Black women are up to 4X more likely than white women to die from pregnancy-related complications. In this episode, Dr. Jackie is joined by Charles Johnson who tragically lost his wife after she underwent a routine c-section at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He has channeled his pain into his nonprofit, 4Kira4Moms, an organization that  advocates for improved maternal health policies and regulations, educates the public about the impact of maternal mortality in communities, and promotes discussion of maternal mortality as a human rights issue.  Dr. Jackie and Charles discuss how patients can work with their providers to ensure they are getting the best care possible.
