In Episode 079 of the Come Out Heavy Podcast, we sit down with Rydell Reinbold, owner and operator of Aziak Equipment—a guy who lives and breathes mountain hunting and builds gear the same way he hunts: with zero fluff and zero shortcuts.
Rydell shares some of his favorite hunting stories, the hard lessons learned deep in the mountains, and how those experiences shaped the way he designs and builds gear. We dig into how Aziak Equipment got started, why function always comes before hype, and what really matters when your gear has to perform miles from the truck and days from help.
This episode is a raw, honest conversation about mountain hunting, gear that’s built with purpose, and the mindset required to consistently show up in tough country. If you’re tired of marketing buzzwords and want to hear from someone who actually uses what he builds, this one’s for you.
No fluff. No shortcuts. Just mountain hunting done right.
On. this episode we sit down for a proper end-of-season catch-up and break down how the final weeks of hunting shook out across British Columbia. We dive into recent grizzly bear attacks and other ongoing stories unfolding in BC that are impacting hunters, backcountry users, and wildlife management alike.
This episode also features special guest Evan Gurks — a close friend of the show and a die-hard BC mountain hunter. Evan shares his full journey of perseverance, mistakes, lessons learned, and near misses over eight years of chasing Stone sheep, culminating in finally harvesting his first BC Stone ram. It’s an honest, gritty look at what long-term mountain commitment really takes.
From season reflections and current events to hard-earned mountain wisdom, this one’s for the hunters who understand that success is built over years, not weekends.
On this episode of Come Out Heavy, the Gassholes saddle up for a wide-ranging, no-filter breakdown of the latest in the BC hunting world. We kick things off with a recap of our most recent mule deer hunt in British Columbia—what worked, what didn’t, and how a brutally timed flat tire tried its best to end the trip early.
From there, we dive into the string of recent grizzly bear attacks across BC and Alberta, and the ongoing challenges around predator management. It’s a conversation that needs to happen, and we’re not shy about saying the quiet parts out loud.
We also wade into the highly controversial discussions happening right now around “land back” initiatives and First Nations land use in BC—offering thoughts and opinions on what’s being said,
Rounding things out, we talk about the highs, lows, and outright dangers of having the wrong (or right) hunting partner in the mountains. From the guys who save the day to the ones who nearly ruin it.
A classic Gassholes episode: honest, gritty, and unapologetically honest.
In this action-packed episode, we’re recapping the 2025 elk season with a deep dive into three successful elk hunts that went down during the peak of the September rut. From bugles at first light to heart-pounding close encounters, all three bulls were taken using calling strategies—no spot-and-stalks, no ambushes, just pure elk vocalization tactics at their finest.
We break down each hunt:
🦌 Dev's evening bull where him and Matt went out for there first hunt together this year.
🦌 Curt's Solo elk call in and kill before work!
🦌 and a Silent 340 inch 7 point Dev called in hunting in a new area.
Tune in to hear the full stories, calling setups, gear choices, and lessons learned from the rut-fueled chaos. If you're an elk hunter, or just obsessed with the thrill of chasing screaming bulls in September, this is one episode you won’t want to miss.

Part 2 is an amazing interview with Mike Jones from Mike Jones Knife and Tool. Mike is a humble and yet a master class Knife maker from Quesnel BC. Mike grew up in Ontario but the west coast mountains were calling his name and he moved out to BC and put down some roots. His knowledge and craftsmanship of knives and bush craft tools is really something amazing.
