In-person events are looking likely to be coming back this year, thank goodness; it's reassuring to see audiovisual companies and venues starting to gear up to get full and busy again.
It's tempting right now to go 'hell yes!' Let's have an event! Everyone is desperate for interaction, but events are costly, so it's important to think about your end goal when setting out to raise your profile through an in-person event.
I cannot wait to get back to events, and I am also considering having one of my own this year. But people will increasingly want more value from attending I think, so how do you put on an event that has your business goals at its heart whilst delivering value to your potential and existing customers?

I wanted to talk to you today about connecting your marketing and sales messages.
There was some interesting research recently from Global PR firm Fleishman Hillard. Their 2021 global report looks at The Authenticity Gap, which measures the gap between consumer expectations and their actual experiences of a company or brand using the Nine Drivers of Authenticity that shape consumer perceptions and beliefs.
I think there are lots of key points that growing businesses can take from this report in terms of making sure what you say you do, what you actually do and how you operate are all telling the same story.

Keeping it simple can help tackle overwhelm, help achieve your goals, and also transform your productivity.
I wanted to talk to you today about telling your story when you work in a technical industry.
It's easy to get this simple step wrong as we are surrounded by technical people in property, construction and tech who are great at their job. Still, we need to help connect technical products and services or initiatives to the right audience and help customers buy or engage in content, in whatever form, to do this.
So I've some tips for you today; let's dive in!

I wanted to talk to you about PR today, and why I think, sometimes it has a bad reputation for being about spin. It's also made famous by TV shows like Absolutely Fabulous, The Thick of It, and The West Wing. So our perception is skewed of how PR can be used to help businesses grow.
More recently, there have been some reports of darker uses of Public Relations to create a negative reputation of a rival company as well.
But, many good PR firms, consultants, and individuals uphold strong ethical codes of conduct and continue to support a fair and professional industry. I am here to tell you that it is one of the best business tools you can have in your arsenal—done right, of course!
So I bust three big myths today. If you are embarking on a PR programme in your business, this episode is for you.

This week, I want to talk to you about creating a great brief and not wasting time, effort, and energy when hiring someone to help you with PR.
No one wants to waste time, effort and money. So here are four things to think about when writing a brief to stand the best chance of getting the results you need.
Everyone needs help at some point with specific skills and expertise; flying solo on everything means you are spreading yourself thin. I can relate as I run my own business, and there comes a time when you have to write a clear brief to get a good brief for someone to help you.
