Critical Elements Lithium Corporation is a junior mining company in the advance exploration stage. The company’s flagship project is the Rose Lithium-Tantalum project located in James-Bay, Quebec with a good geographic location, on-site access to infrastructures like powerline, roads, airport, railway access and camp.

The company vision is to become a large responsible supplier of Lithium to the flourishing energy storage and electric vehicle industry. They are keen to advance the high-purity Rose project as their first project but they also have 700km2 of highly prospective ground in an area that already has demonstrable Lithium mineralisation.

In 2017, they completed a robust feasibility study for the Rose project, specifically for Phase 1, the concentrator and mine and had those Capex and operating numbers confirmed in 2019. Phase 2 is the conversion plant that will convert the spodumene concentrate from the Rose project into Lithium hydroxide. 

The company has a very experienced management team and an excellent ESG track record with a strong relationship with first nations groups which was formalised in an agreement signed in 2019. They are looking for a strategic partner with experience and now the company has reached a market cap of over CAD$200M, they will have more options available to them. Decisions will be based on which is best to maximise shareholder value.

The focus now for Critical Elements Lithium is to get permitted. Once permitted and they finalise the valuation on Phase 2 and the detailed engineering of the project, they hope to start to see recognition from the market in a valuation re-rate as they achieve those catalysts. They aim to be in production in 2023 following a final investment decision during 2021 and allowing 2 years for project construction.

Interview with Eric Desaulniers, President and CEO of Nouveau Monde Graphite (TSX:NOU)

Nouveau Monde Graphite engages in the acquisition, exploration, evaluation, and development of mineral properties in Quebec, Canada. The company primarily explores graphite and is ready to become a key player in the sustainable energy revolution. They are developing the only fully integrated source of green anode battery material in North America and are targeting full-scale commercial operations by early 2023.

Nouveau Monde had a very busy year in 2020 and their share price has gone up 10x since we last spoke in November '19. The company has had an amazing few months and have put a lot of work into their two projects which will be fully vertically integrated production from the rock to the finished product, the Lithium-ion battery for their customers.

Nouveau Monde has a 100% interest in the Matawinie graphite mine which will produce high-purity, battery-grade graphite to supply the lithium-ion industry. They have recently received their full permit for Matawinie and are just starting construction at the site.

Bécancour, Québec, is the advanced materials plant for Nouveau Monde’s value-added operations where the graphite flake is transformed into anode material. The company is now in construction phase for first capacity which will be ready this summer.

Nouveau Monde is fully financed and supported by Pallinghurst which has allowed them to advance the milestones on the mine and concentrator during 2020. They are operating phase 1 capacity with the demonstration plant which has led to a good customer sales book for the graphite flake. They have developed the engineering for phase 2 and all the permitting is completed for the mine. Nouveau Monde has signed agreements at the Bécancour plant which means the project is advancing towards the aim of the fully integrated business model.

The company will provide advanced carbon-neutral graphite-based material solutions to the growing lithium-ion and fuel cell markets. Nouveau Monde has low-cost operations and the highest of ESG standards, aiming to be carbon neutral, they are fully traceable and are based in a safe jurisdiction in North America. 

It has been a fantastic year for the company, where their plans and marketing came together to advance their business model forward. Nouveau Monde Graphite will become a strategic supplier to the world’s leading electric vehicle and energy storage manufacturers, ensuring high-quality and reliable advanced materials while guaranteeing supply chain traceability. The business growth is there for Nouveau Monde to capture and they aim to be realistic and aggressive to take the opportunities that are ahead of them.
