  • Is Jesus Your Good Samaritan?

Real Abortion News #167 - Originally aired April 2021

A lawyer asked Jesus, “What is the greatest commandment?” Jesus said to love God and love your neighbor. Wishing to justify his poor behavior the lawyer asked, “And who is my neighbor?” Jesus answered with a story of a stranger beaten and left for dead on a dangerous road. After the political and religious leaders refused to stop and help, a foreigner from Samaria had compassion, bandaged up his wounds and paid for his recovery.

Easter reminds us that Jesus’ death on the cross for our sins means that He became the Good Samaritan for people beaten and left for dead by their sin. As recipients of God’s love, what should we do with our new found life? Jesus told the lawyer: “Go and do likewise.” On behalf of women facing unplanned pregnancy and the babies CompassCare helps them have, Happy Easter.

  • Women’s Reproductive Health Takes Backseat at Planned Parenthood?

Real Abortion News #166 - Originally aired March 2021

Planned Parenthood self-identifies as the champion of women’s reproductive health. Their annual revenue waterline now stands at $1.64 billion dollars. Oddly, one analysis shows the abortion business providing 72% fewer women’s health services than it has in the past. What services are contributing to Planned Parenthood’s staggering bottom line if not women’s health care?

Recently, an investigative journalist called attention to Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York’s own description of its services. The organization’s website claims “Nationally, Planned Parenthood is the second largest provider of Gender Affirming Hormone Care.”

One might wonder what gender hormone therapy has to do with improving women’s reproductive health? Perhaps one former Planned Parenthood employee has part of the answer saying, “…trans identifying kids are cash cows, and they are kept on the hook for the foreseeable future…whereas abortions are a one-and-done situation.”

  • Does Planned Parenthood Prioritize Abortion Over Women’s Health?

Real Abortion News #165 - Originally aired March 2021

Planned Parenthood Federation released its annual report in February. According to one analysis, it appears, “…Planned Parenthood prioritizes abortion over women’s health.” The data reveals Planned Parenthood is responsible for 41 percent of all U.S. abortions (354,871), their all-time high. U.S. abortion rates declined over the last 20 years, yet Planned Parenthood has seen a 94 percent increase in abortions over the same period. Meanwhile, over the last ten years “…Planned Parenthood has provided significantly fewer [women’s] health services…” reductions by as much as 72 percent. What is even more astounding is that 38% of all the organization’s income is derived from federal tax payer dollars, $618.1 million.

Planned Parenthood’s aspirations are not limited to abortion either. The 2021 legislative priorities of their political action arm include weaponizing the New York State legislature in a smear campaign against their only competition: Pro-life pregnancy centers.

  • Federal Class Action Lawsuit Filed Against NY Abortion Law

Real Abortion News #164 - Originally aired March 2021

On January 12, 2021, a class action lawsuit was filed by victims of domestic violence and others claiming New York’s 2019 abortion expansion bill, entitled the Reproductive Health Act (RHA), puts “women in danger.” The RHA reduced standards of care for pregnant women seeking abortion while decriminalizing any harm to a preborn baby resulting from violence to his or her pregnant mother. According to the press release from Feminists Choosing Life of New York, the RHA “violates the fundamental rights of women and children, including viable children in utero.”

Prosecuting attorney Christen Civiletto says, “New York has stripped women and their families of their ability to pursue justice…” Further, plaintiffs claim the RHA “…escalates the risk of violence.” The case is being led by a team of women attorneys serving as special counsel to the Women’s Alliance Against Violence.

  • Pregnancies Drop as Abortion Rises

Real Abortion News #163 - Originally aired February 2021

While the number of U.S. births fall, abortions rise. Is there a connection? A recent report from the CDC shows births decreased by 1% in 2019. This represents the fifth straight year of decline. The Total Fertility Rate, the average number of births per woman of childbearing age, is down 1% too. The current fertility rate is at 1.7 and has consistently fallen since 2007. In order for the next generation to replace the previous one, the fertility rate needs to be at 2.1 or higher.

Meanwhile, CDC surveillance also confirms increases of abortion in a majority of states in 2018. HHS statistics show increases by as much as 5% in states like Texas in 2019. New York is beginning to see similar trends in its recent vital statistics.

What happens to a society that refuses to bear children?

  • SCOTUS Upholds FDA Restrictions on Chemical Abortion

Real Abortion News #162 - Originally aired February 2021

In a 6-3 decision released on January 12, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a request by the Food and Drug Administration to reinstate restrictions around the use of chemical abortion. The FDA placed the restrictions on the use of chemical abortion to mitigate the four-fold increased risk of adverse effects of its use over that of surgical abortion. The decision is in response to a lower court ruling in Maryland suspending the FDA regulations which allowed women to forego a doctor’s visit ostensibly protecting women from Coronavirus. Justice Sotomayor writing for the minority said, “The FDA’s policy imposes an…undue burden on a woman seeking abortion during the current pandemic.” Chief Justice John Roberts insisted the decision was actually about whether a lower court can block FDA rules during a health crisis. The newest Justice, Amy Coney Barrett, sided with what looks like a new pro-life majority.

  • What Is Next for Pro-lifers Facing Pro-Abortion White House and Legislature?

Real Abortion News #161 - Originally aired February 2021

Arguably the most pro-life acting President since Reagan left office replaced by the self-proclaimed pro-abortion Biden administration. Combined with an abortion leaning legislature, Federal abortion policy could closely mirror New York’s for the foreseeable future. For example, if the Supreme Court overturns the 1973 ruling Roe v Wade, allowing states to make the practice illegal, the Biden administration could simply pass legislation legalizing it again.

As pro-abortion forces accelerate abortion promotion and funding both here and abroad, many pro-lifers wonder what’s next. Will the Federal government further deregulate abortion? Will pro-life activity be attacked as it has been in New York? Whatever happens, it is clear that the principles informing the pro-life position do not rest on government but upon God.

Pro-lifers might find encouragement in the words of the Apostle Paul, “If God is for us, who is against us?”

  • New National Sanctity of Human Life Day

Real Abortion News #160 - Originally aired February 2021

On January 17, 2021, one of the last official acts performed by outgoing President Donald Trump was to proclaim‘ National Sanctity of Human Life Day.’ It is to be observed every January 22, the day the Supreme Court released the infamous Roe v Wade ruling in 1973 effectively legalizing abortion nationwide. In his proclamation Trump stated, “…some in Washington are fighting to keep the United States among a small handful of nations—including North Korea and China—that allow elective abortions after 20 weeks. I join with countless others who believe this is morally and fundamentally wrong….” He went on to say that the day is a call to the nation to “renew our resolve to build a culture where every person is protected, valued, and cherished” because, “every person is made in the holy image of God.”

  • First Day in Office Pro-abortion Biden Commitments to Funding Abortion

Real Abortion News #159 - Originally aired February 2021

His first full day in office, President Joe Biden committed Federal tax dollars to abortion internationally. Dr. Anthony Fauci told the World Health Organization that Biden will revoke the Mexico City policy. This policy originated with Ronald Regan and bans federal dollars from going to organizations that perform or promote abortion. Trump reinstated the policy after Obama rescinded it. Shortly after Fauci’s comments the new White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters that the Administration “will have more to say on the Mexico City Policy in the coming days.” She went on to say, “but I will just take the opportunity to remind all of you that [Joe Biden] is a devout Catholic…”

If the Catholic Church believes participation in abortion causes a person to immediately excommunicate oneself from the Church, wouldn’t funding abortion technically make Biden no Catholic at all?

  • Abortion Rates Up, CDC Says

    Real Abortion News #158 -

The CDC released its most recent U.S. Abortion Surveillance report, detailing abortion data from 2018.  New York remains the abortion capital of the country and “…the total number of reported U.S. abortions…increased 1%…” in 2018. A total of 614,820 babies were aborted, black babies being aborted at a rate five times greater than white babies.

Even  with this 1% increase in 2018, there has been a general downward trend with a 22% decrease in the total number of abortions over the previous nine years. However, a gathering storm appears on the statistical horizon with the revelation of a sweeping trend away from surgical abortion to dangerous at-home, chemical abortion. Despite FDA warnings of increased risk, the past nine years reveal a 120% rise in chemical abortion, now representing nearly 38% of all abortions.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer said, “The test of the morality of a society is what it does for its children.” What do these abortion data portend for America?

We have published other articles about recent abortion trends during 2020, so I thought it was important to highlight the data we are talking about here is 2 years old.

Also I attempted to work on flow of ideas for the listener to grasp what each statistic means.

Is that the correct mathematical term? I never know if I have it right.
