In this episode, Kim talks to psychology and bioscience researcher and 4th-year graduate student, Ryan Linn Brown about the physical effects of stress on our bodies. They discuss caregiving, grief and bereavement, and emotion suppression. This episode looks at the research of the impact of our emotions on our health.
Ryan Linn Brown is a 4th year Ph.D. student at Rice University. Her research focuses on investigating the biological mechanisms through which psychological stress (e.g., bereavement, spousal caregiving) dysregulates the immune, autonomic, and endocrine systems…essentially, how stress gets “under the skin.”
