  • 5 Pieces of Advice from Successful Entrepreneurs

This episode is a collation of the advice offered by real life entrepreneurs in action on this podcast.

As I reflected back on 2020, I found myself going back to the words of those who are actively doing what I aim to do - running a successful business. Their words of advice impacted me in my first year podcasting and getting my communications strategist consultancy up and running, and judging by the feedback I've received, they impacted you as well.

Thank you for all of the time you have spent with me over the last few months - or minutes! I am grateful that, of all the things you could do with your time, you have chosen to be with me. I wish you all of the love, health & happiness the world has to offer and much success in 2021 and the years to come.

So, did you throw your business plan out the window around March? Or did you try and revise it, only to just give up and do your best as the year rolled along?

    Enter this podcast.

  • 5 Things to Inspire an Entrepreneur's Heart

Some days are hard and, as we get to the end of this year, it often feels like many more days than usual have been difficult. Decision fatigue, emotional and physical fatigue: these are all real things that we need to recognize but not succumb to. There are things about being our own boss, being an entrepreneur that no one else gets to experience; things that electrify the whole experience - or would if we stopped to think about them.

So today we think about them. Because what we get to do is pretty darn amaze-balls, even through the tiredness. (And the stupid broken computer. I'm pretty sure the Universe is testing me...)

    Highlights:

    • It's Yours: No one can take it away (4:08)
    • Choose Your Own Critics: Choose Wisely (5:20)
    • Choose Your Path: Choose Wisely (7:09)
    • Time & Challenges: Both are necessary to force you into learning/strengthening skills (9:37)
    • Opportunities: Yours to take, pass on, succeed or fail at (11:42)
    • Imperfect but Inspired Action (14:07)

And, if you didn't hear - I'm running a free challenge in my Connections, Coffee & Confidence Community Facebook group. If you want to be confident and comfortable speaking/writing in your social media, in your ads, in your marketing - it all starts with knowing your voice. But knowing and being comfortable using your voice is the first stumbling block that many people face and it's one that I can help you with. Donald Miller says that people buy from people they understand the easiest, so join me in the Connections, Coffee & Confidence Community Facebook group from Nov 23 - 27 to begin being the clear, confident and comfortable communicator I know you can be.

  • Top Tips from a Habits Coach

Suzy Wraines is a habits coach and - full disclosure - I have been working with her for about 4 weeks at the time of recording. This is not a paid ad; I really feel that a habits coach is someone all of us entrepreneurs should be familiar with instead of staying in the overwhelm or frustration of trying to take something else on or finish something up. I didn't know such a thing existed and, in case you didn't either, this podcast will provide you with an amazing source of tips, insights, and encouragement in your habits.

Oh holy smokes this was a hard interview to edit. Not because there was lots to cut but because I was so wrapped up in listening again that I was forgetting to note the key points for the show notes below.

Hey, so have you heard me talking about my freebie?

  • Knowing & Using Your Communications Styles

You know how you sound differently when you speak with your parents than with your partner than with your friends? It's all still you, but there is a slight differentiation in perhaps your tone, your language, your volume or even your pace. Are one of these styles more you? Is one more advantageous than the others, situation dependent?

This episode came out of a conversation with my brother's fiancee who is taking a mandatory introductory class on communications. Turns out, not everyone is a comms geek like myself and it got me to thinking about the different styles of communication and how your awareness of them, your comfort level with them, plays a role in how you present and market your business.

    Highlights:

    • Know your preferred or natural style of communication: Why does this matter? (3:48)
    • How to Assess Your Comfort Level (8:24)
    • Knowing the Rules so you can Break Them: I go Meta (10:15)
    • What all This Boils Down to: You do You (14:21)
