This passage focuses on the implementation of spiritual gifts that are to come from a foundation of love to benefit others- and not from a self serving position. When the gifts become focused on the individual who has the gift, Pastor Chris contends that the gift becomes a shadow of itself, which is both distracting from the true purpose of the gift, and destructive.
