Tigers 6, Astros 2 – Mize gets 1st win; Tigers beat Astros 6-2 in Hinch's return
Rookie Casey Mize tossed seven scoreless innings for his first career win and fellow rookie Akil Baddoo homered again as the Detroit Tigers got a 6-2 win over the Houston Astros on Monday night in manager A.J. Hinch’s first trip to Houston since he was fired for the team’s sign-stealing scheme. Renato Núñez and Grayson Greiner also homered as the Tigers jumped on Zack Greinke (1-1) for six runs to snap a four-game skid. Hinch received a standing ovation when he was introduced before the game and the team played a tribute video to him on the big screen.
White Sox 4, Indians 3 – Chang hits Grandal with throw as White Sox beat Indians 4-3
First baseman Yu Chang hit Yasmani Grandal with a throw trying to force him at second base as Nick Madrigal raced home with the winning run in the ninth inning, and the Chicago White Sox beat the Cleveland Indians 4-3. Adam Eaton homered in his second straight game and rookie Yermín Mercedes got the winning rally started when he singled to shortstop against Emmanuel Clase. Grandal walked to put runners on first and second before Nick Williams sent a grounder toward Chang. His throw trying to get Grandal at second hit the runner in the head. The ball ricocheted toward the left side of the infield, and Madrigral — running for Mercedes — sped home.
Brewers 6, Cubs 3 – Urías drives in 3 on pinch-hit double, Brewers down Cubs 6-3
Pinch-hitter Luis Urías drove in three runs with a go-ahead double and the Milwaukee Brewers scored six times in the sixth inning to beat the Chicago Cubs 6-3. Freddy Peralta struck out 10 over six innings of two-hit ball for the victory. Milwaukee has won five of six, while the Cubs lost for the fifth time in six games. After being shut out on one hit by Adbert Alzolay through five innings, the Brewers broke loose in the sixth. Urías was 2 for 27 this season before his bases-loaded double. Kris Bryant homered for the Cubs, and Javier Báez had a two-run double in the ninth before Josh Hader got two outs for his first save of the season.

MLB – Hinch reflects on Astros sign-stealing scam in return
Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch reflected on the Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal that cost him his job as the team’s manager in his return to Houston on Monday, saying it put a “cloud over the sport.” Hinch was suspended by Major League Commissioner Rob Manfred for a year and subsequently fired by owner Jim Crane for his role in the scheme that violated rules by using a television camera to steal catchers’ signs during Houston’s run to the 2017 World Series title and again in the 2018 season.
MLB – Chicago Cubs concerned about possible COVID-19 outbreak
The Chicago Cubs are concerned about a possible COVID-19 outbreak after two coaches tested positive for the virus and three relievers were placed on the COVID-19-related injured list. The team announced the positive test for bullpen coach Chris Young before its series opener at Milwaukee, with first base coach Craig Driver already away from the team following his positive test. Relievers Brandon Workman, Jason Adam and Dan Winkler were placed on the COVID-19-related injured list. There was no word on whether their designation was the result of a positive test or contact tracing.
