Why is your childhood attachment to your caregiver so important? Mary Ainsworth was a famous psychologist who came up with the initial three types of attachment. Secure, ambivalent-insecure and avoidant-insecure attachment. Later on, researchers Main and Solomon added a fourth attachment style called disorganized-insecure attachment.
