I remember the exact place I was when I realised I was singing a song I had never heard. It was on a cold morning of March 2018.  On a short walk to work, between the train station to my office, I  worshipped  through songs I knew when I suddenly transitioned and started singing this song  ‘You Are Holy’.  The clarity that came with the song was astounding, it made such an impression in my heart that as soon as I got to my desk, the first thing I did was to start writing the words to this ‘new’ song that was pouring out of me and crying for expression.

In dire need of a place to sing, I quickly dashed over to the loo, locked myself in one of the cubicles and grabbed my phone and started recording this worship that had taken over my being. 

Looking back now, I realise what I had that day was an encounter and it was in the most unlikely of settings; on my way to work. 

Looking back now, I am grateful for the privilege of that morning, as it deepened my relationship with God, and constantly grants me instant access into the presence of The Almighty. 

Asides this, the song further reinforced what I had always known, which is just as we are, even without preparation in an earthly sense, wherever we are, God's Divine presence is perpetually with us. 

I now know that true encounters still manifest, even in the most unlikely of settings, whether it is in a burning bush or a parking lot, or on the street or even in your own home. True encounters are still happening and the weight of His glory will come to any heart submitted in worship, that is drenched in Spirit and Truth. 

What we seek also seeks us. All we need is a yielded heart.  

On this week’s episode of the unscathed life podcast, I am talking about the last of the five pillars of Living Unscathed and I elaborate by doing a book review on one of my all-time favourite books “Grit” by Angela Duckworth. 

 Angela, who is considered the world’s leading expert on “Grit" sees grit it as the core ingredient in personal success. She defines grit as passion and sustained persistence applied toward long-term vision or goal.

The cornerstone of Angela’s message is that that natural talent is hugely overrated, and perseverance is what we need to support our achievements in life.

On Episode 22, I have a very insightful conversation with Jo Naughton, the founder of Healed for Life, a ministry dedicated to helping men and women become free to fulfil their God-given purpose. Jo who also co-Pastors Harvest Church London, my home Church in London, is also an international speaker, an author and a regular guest on TV and radio shows in the UK and all over the world.

On Episode 21, I am bringing you the heroic story of Stephany Oromo and her battle with endometriosis. 

Endometriosis is a women’s disorder where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus is found elsewhere in the body – mainly in the abdominal cavity, causing chronic pelvic pain, fatigue, heavy bleeding and amongst other things.

Endometriosis, often referred to as “Endo” , impacts  approximately 10% of women of childbearing age. 

On today's show, our ‘Endo Warrior’, Stephany speaks with great vulnerability of her experience with this very painful menstrual condition and goes on to inspire us by looking beyond some of the challenges and speaking of the impact she is currently making in the world.

Stephany, is the founder of Authentic Clay, an initiative which supports children and young people with disabilities in rural areas from low-income environments. Her experiences have birthed great empathy in her and stoked a desire to channel her pain towards removing the pain of others. 

Turning pain into purpose is what this episode will challenge you to explore in your own life.

On Episode 20, we are discussing one of the core pillars of Living Unscathed; PURPOSE.

On episode 19, I am bringing you a conversation with Aba Cato Andah, that will give you a great perspective on  therapy and mental health as a whole, particularly within African and Christian communities. Aba, is a professional Christian Psychotherapist of over a decade and the founder of Chrysalis Counselling & Coaching, a private counselling practice. 

On today’s show, Aba emphasises the power of total wellness of the whole human body. She refers to it as a three legged stool consisting of our spiritual health, our physical health and our soul, which consists of our mind, our intellect and our emotions. For total wellness all of these will need to be performing optimally. 

Aba speaks very passionately on the importance of prioritising our mental health. We speak about the intersection between faith and therapy and some of the cultural biases which make people less eager to go see therapists. She encourages listeners not to let shame or stigma keep them from speaking out or seeking the help they need. “You cannot overcome that which you have not identified,” she says. My earnest hope is that this episode gives you enough insight and helps you become the champion of your mental health, for your benefit, and also for the benefit of those who need you at your best.
