On Episode 3, our guest, Chisom Owolabi, is the Author of a new book called ‘Becoming Who God Says I am: Valorous’, and is speaking on her life’s journey through multilayered setbacks, which include witnessing the murder of her father at age 7 and watching her mother take her last breath in a hospital, after a valiant fight with cancer, 14 years later.
Chisom openly shares what she has learnt on the journey to becoming the Valorous person she is now. Her experiences include battles with brokenness plus the void that comes with losing a parent early. She also shares her personal experiences of overcoming deep depression, fear, identity crisis and sexual molestation at a very young age.
Chisom desires more than anything to see young women thrive and encourages everyone to own their stories and share their experiences so others can learn from it and make better choices in their own lives.
Chisom is a great example of someone who is ‘Living Unscathed’. She has been able to manifest her highest self regardless of the setbacks she has experienced in her own life. This entire episode will teach and inspire you and leave you greatly motivated.
Key learnings of the episode are:
- The importance of parents teaching self awareness from an early age and encouraging children to be outspoken about adult interactions as a way to mitigate the risk of children becoming victims of sexual abuse
- The benefit of taking each day as it comes and thinking too far into the future as a means to manage the overwhelm of trying to overcome a setback
- The power of journaling and visualising your goals, even in dark times, and how it can help you manifest a better and more purposeful life in the future.
- The importance of not feeling shame about your experiences, as sharing it can help others make better decisions in their own lives.
