On May 4, 2001, Bonny Lee Bakley was found fatally shot in a car on a dark North Hollywood street. The prime suspect was her husband, famed actor Robert Blake. But Bonny, a longtime con artist, had plenty of enemies. She left behind a trail of men she’d scammed, and she had a volatile relationship with Christian Brando, the troubled son of movie star Marlon Brando.
Not since the O.J. Simpson case had the eyes of the nation been so fixated on a homicide. The search for Bonny’s killer took detectives on an eleven-month odyssey across the country and through Hollywood's underbelly of hustlers, drug addicts, and would-be hitmen. It would be the most expensive murder investigation in LAPD history to date.

The province of British Columbia in Canada was gripped by a string of disappearances and deaths of its young people in the early 1980s. At first, the police thought maybe the missing children were runaways, and didn’t spend too much of their time on the cases. However, when a 9-year-old boy disappeared and then his body was later found, the police realized that 9-year-olds don’t usually run away from home. Eventually, the police would arrest Clifford Olson, who would be dubbed “The Beast of British Columbia”. In the early 80s, a serial killer was murdering women in the twin cities of Minnesota with an ice pick. In 2019, Keyona Griffin called 911 and whispered for them to please hurry because she was about to die. In the call, she told the dispatcher that her aunt had already been murdered and she was going to be next. But the urgency in her voice somehow got lost in translation, and the police left after knocking on her door and getting no answer.

Keyona's death and the murder of her aunt set in motion a sequence of events that resulted in two more people being killed. In 1997, two women were mutilated and murdered on the grounds of a psychiatric hospital in Grangegorman, Ireland. Only months later, a young couple named Catherine and Carl Doyle were slaughtered in their countryside home in front of their four young children. All four of the victims were murdered at the hands of a young father named Mark Nash, who would eventually become known as one of Ireland's most violent and gruesome killers of all time.
