  • CYF 043 — mercredi 7 octobre 2020 — Qu’y a-t-il dans mon sac?
The rentrée was so intense that I totally forgot to tell about the things that I brought back from my holidays. They were, all of them in a tote bag, hidden under my desk. I discovered it last week-end when I decided to tidy my work place. What’s in that bag? I asked myself.
I found some paper cords, some paper bags to cook chicken in your oven, maps of the Jura region, my summer note book. Taking this things out of the bag gave me an idea. I could take each thing out of the bag in front of my camera for you my listener. This is how this episode became a video episode on the Cultivate Your French YouTube channel. As it is a slow French podcast, I decided that I could not overwhelm you with too much things. So I concentrate on the things about Paris.

  • CYF 042 mercredi 30 septembre 2020 — Premier week-end d’automne : deuxième cours de musique, marche en forêt et peinture
Last week-end, automn really began in France. Saturday morning was rather sunny. Micaela and I went to the Saint-Michel area to run some errands. We walked from Chatelet to Odéon, and back.  Then we quickly went to rue de Rome near Saint-Lazare. Rue de Rome is known for its luthier workshops and music bookshops. We bought the books Felicia will need this year for her music class. We came back home a late. Lisa was expecting my return to ask me a specific question...

  • CYF 40 — Summer in France : La Tour Eiffel
These few weeks in Paris before going back to school were very intense. I felt an urge to visit as many places as we could. We visited Le Louvre, we went to La Sainte-Chapelle as Claire told us that it was wonderful to see the light through the stained glass windows, we visited the Musée Bourdelle (a very nice place for a calm moment in Paris) and one morning I suggested that we could go to the Tour Eiffel. The girls were a little bit tired of this Paris craziness, but Alice, Lisa’s friend who was we us for the day, was on my side.
Be ready for an escape, today’s episode takes you to the Tour Eiffel!

I hope you are well and happy.
On a Friday evening of August, Micaela and I met my friend Claire for a walk in the Quartier Latin. Claire is a student, she studied Middle Ages at the Sorbonne, and she is now studying paleography at the prestigious Ecole des Chartes in Paris. We started our walk on the Ile de la Cité. We saw Notre-Dame, La Sainte-Chapelle, Le musée de Cluny and La Sorbonne. Today’s episode takes place in rue Soufflot. Who was Jacques-Germain Soufflot? This is what you are going to discover, among other facts, in today’s episode.

We came back from our holidays in Jura. Micaela left two days later to spend a week with a friend of hers in Montélimar. Felicia, Lisa and I went to Louvre during that week. We were with my friend France and her daughter Maya. Maya is found of Egyptian Antiquities. After spending almost two hours in the Egyptian section, I suggested that we could say hello to La Joconde. This what you are going to listen today’s episode.

  • CYF 036 — Mercredi 19 août 2020 — Journée pain au moulin de Pont aux vents
During the second week of our holidays in Jura, we did something that I was eager to do : we spent the day with a baker at the Pont-des-vents mill. Bruno, the baker, mills his own flour, bakes bread in the old oven and sells it at the mill or on markets. Receiving people and making bread with them is part of the project he set with the village of Montfleur who owns the 18th century mill.  And he loves receiving people! We really had a wonderful day. This is what you are going to listen in today’s episode.

  • Rencontre avec Mickaël au belvédère de la Scia
This is Laetitia and you are listening to Cultivate Your French podcast, the slow version of One Thing In A French Day. Cultivate Your French is an easy way to improve your comprehension of the French language as we speak it in France.
Last week and the week before, I told you about our first week of holidays in Cluny (Burgundy region). We left Cluny and  drove to our next location : Jura.
Our three daughters took horse lessons and during that time Pietro and I started our day by a nice walk in the forest. Our favorite place was the « Belvedere de la Scia ». It took us forty-five minutes to go there and we had to climb more than 200 meters. But what a nice view we had over the Jura mountains!
This is where we met Mickaël who was hiking in the region and was taking a little pause. In today’s episode you are going to listen to a short conversation between Mickaël and I.

  • CYF 034 — mercredi 5 août 2020 — Entretien avec Emmanuel du magasin de locations de vélos de Cluny
This is Laetitia and you are listening to Cultivate Your French podcast, the slow version of One Thing In A French Day podcast.
I hope you are well and happy.
When we were in Cluny our friends Florence and Sébastien came from Lyon to stay with us for two days. Sébastien and my daughter Felicia were friends at school before his family moved to Lyon two years ago. In June, I told his mother Florence that we were coming to Cluny in July. Cluny is only an hour from Lyon by car.
We visited the abbaye de Cluny on wednesday, the day of their arrival. It was a very interesting visit. There isn’t much to see because the big abbey had been destroyed after the French Revolution. But we had a wonderful guide who explained everything so well that we could imagine it.
The following day, we rented bikes and part of us rode to Cormatin castle. I had a nice conversation with Emmanuel who owns the bike rental shop and he agreed to talk about his job for the podcast. This is what you are going to hear in today’s episode.
Thank you so much for your enthousiasm about the podcast!
