Nous avons retrouvé le Jura pour une semaine de vacances. Les filles sont bien sûr allées faire un peu de cheval. Cette année, elles ont fait un stage de TREC, c'est une discipline équestre. Micaela nous explique en quoi cela consiste. Et après, je suis désolée, mais nous devrons vous laisser pour aller manger des crêpes chez la dame enchanteresse.

This week, the five of us are in the Jura. On Tuesday, my daughters spent the day at a riding centre discovering TREC: a map, a stopwatch, a horse, and nature all around. Micaela explains how it works, from the map room to galloping along country paths.

Lisa était très contente de me raconter cette histoire en rentrant de chez la dentiste lundi, Josiane et Gérard (ce sont des prénoms fictifs) lui avaient beaucoup plu. 

Felicia l'avait beaucoup aimée aussi cette histoire. Je me suis dit qu'elle vous plairait également. 

J'ai dû négocier un peu, mais finalement Lisa a accepté de vous raconter son expérience de la salle d'attente. Et je pense que ça lui a plu, car elle a choisi de s'adresser directement à vous. 

Dans son texte, ce que j'aime bien, ce sont les mots ou les tournures qu'elle a choisi, mais surtout le fait qu'elle emploie le présent de narration. C'est très pratique quand on raconte quelque chose. 

Dans notre atelier d'écriture aujourd'hui, nous nous intéressons aussi aux pensées de Josiane. Comment est-ce que ça se passe quand on pense dans sa tête? Quelles phrases utilise-t-on?

En rentrant de La Défense ce samedi, Marilyne et moi avions chaud au cœur. Ça fait souvent ça de passer un moment avec des gens qui ne vous connaissent pas, mais qui acceptent de vous transmettre dans le micro une part de ce qui les anime. Un grand merci aux quatre fans qui ont répondu à nos questions !

A Friday-morning chat in a café turns into an episode about the books that follow us into our dreams. I explain why reading Philippe Bordas, author of Les Parrhésiens, before bed leaves my brain buzzing, and how a friend's joke ("write him a letter!") made me dig out an old list of unforgettable people I have met, from a first job in the oil-transport business to a housing survey in the Paris suburbs. 

The everyday frame (a café, a cup of tea, a bad night's sleep) is easy to follow for B2 listeners. Alors, la question était : avions-nous fait le recensement de Lisa? (Etions-nous des parents parfaits? ) Ce document est très important pour une raison particulière qui concerne Lisa cette année. 

A very real evening of French administrative stress — finding a missing document, navigating a government website, remembering (or not) what was already done last year — followed by an unexpectedly funny philosophical twist courtesy of Descartes. This episode is a real insight into how French teenagers navigate the bureaucracy of turning 16: mandatory registration, national defense day, and university entrance exams.

The vocabulary stays largely accessible, but the episode is a great opportunity to notice rarer verb tenses in action — the imperfect subjunctive, the plus-que-parfait, the present subjunctive — used naturally rather than drilled.
