  • Getting Back On Track

    Send us Fan Mail

In this episode of the CWC podcast I talk about some personal difficulties I’ve been dealing with over the past two years, and what I’m doing to get back on track. Since the BII, explant surgery, Covid, and living in a mobile home, I have been more off-plan than I have been since starting my transformation six years ago. Part of the problem is that I’ve been trying to maintain the same frantic schedule that I was when I was lifting 6 days a week. But I was burnt out; I wasn’t getting the same feeling as I once was. I knew something had to change, so I began doing exercise that I truly enjoy again, primarily rollerblading. I’ve reduced my daily intake and have been sticking to it as closely as possible while not restricting myself, and things are finally starting to change. I am feeling better, more energized, and I am excited to workout again, but it took identifying and changing the things that were no longer working for me. Listen in as I share my tips for getting back on track (many of the same we share in our community!), from small bites, to food labels, to anti-shaming, to changing your inner narrative—you’ll hear it all in this episode!

  • Former Bachelorette, Clare Crawley

    Send us Fan Mail

This week on the CWC podcast I sit down with Clare Crawley. Clare is co-owner of De Facto Salon in Sacramento, CA. She appeared on ABC's 16th season of The Bachelorette.. Clare and I talk about her journey with breast implant illness, as well as her decision to undergo explant surgery. Clare got her implants six years ago and began noticing symptoms that were hard to ignore, such as rashes and severe fatigue. Like many other women, she went to endless doctor appointments only to be told that there was nothing wrong with her. She felt alone, scared, and crazy. By reaching out to other women on social media, she realized the problem could be her implants. She explanted on July 30th with Dr. Rankin, who was previously on the CWC podcast. She is feeling like herself again and is eager to share her story in the hopes that other women will know that they are not alone or crazy. Her story is powerful and as always, we invite anyone dealing with BII to reach out to us.

In this week's episode of the CWC podcast we have our very first return guest, Mike Doolittle. Mike was on the show once before discussing body acceptance, health, fitness, and boudoir photography, which is his profession. Mike is also a strength trainer who owns Styrka, a community-based gym here in Tulsa. In this episode we discuss women's rights, abortion laws, Covid, the importance of vaccines (including my own personal decision regarding it), more body acceptance, and sexual/emotional abuse. I shared a few personal stories that I have never spoken about outside of my sister and husband. Some of the topics we cover can be triggering to certain listeners, so please be aware of that before proceeding to listen to this episode. We understand that there are millions of different perspectives, and we hope that sharing our opinions and personal stories on hot button issues will be helpful to some of my listeners.

  • Carla Rhodes

    Send us a text

This week on the CWC podcast, I sit down with Carla Rhodes. Carla is a wife of 22 years, mother of two (ages 19 and 17), an online boutique owner, and a fitness lover. At age 40, Carla was diagnosed with breast cancer and opted for a mastectomy with reconstructive surgery. Her implants were placed in 2017 following her reconstruction, and she underwent a revision in May of 2021 to have them moved to the top of the muscle. Eight weeks after her revision, she explanted due to rejection and severe infection. She experienced many symptoms prior to explanting, including weight gain, muscle fatigue, hip pain, frequent urination, brain fog, difficulty gaining muscle/losing weight, difficulty sleeping and breathing, and stomach bloat. It has been four weeks since her explant, and not only are all of her symptoms gone, she is also down 18 pounds. Carla's story is so special and I am excited to share it with you all.

  • Question Everything with Sarah Dawn

    Send us a text

This week on the CWC podcast my guest is Sarah Dawn, host of The Sarah Dawn Podcast. Sarah and I met in middle school and reconnected in adulthood through our separate business interests. Sarah has built seven-figure businesses, hustled to the point of burnout, and finally discovered how to prioritize personal fulfillment. She spent years helping entrepreneurs in their businesses and in this current season is focused on sharing her stories and loving her life in Scottsdale, AZ, with her husband, kids, and two dogs: Nana, the desert heat loving Husky, and Tyson, a boxer mix that just cannot get enough love. Listen in as we discuss religion, multi-level marketing companies, body acceptance, aliens and octopuses, and how she recently pulled the plug on her business to focus on herself and enjoy life.

  • The Grind

    Send us a text

In this week's episode of the CWC podcast, I address the toxic idea that “we all have the same hours in a day and we can determine our progress based on the choices that we make each day.” This “grind culture” notion is particularly harmful in the fitness community. Ultimately, catchy one-liners like this only serve to make people feel shame for not making better use of their time. It completely disregards the fact that, for the vast majority of people, there are dozens of outside factors prohibiting them from making perfect, or even good, choices each day. Listen in as I share the physical, mental, and outside challenges that have kept me from making good choices daily, and a (high protein!) cheese dip recipe—because life’s too short to be “perfect” every day.

  • It's All Too Much

    Send us a text

This week on the CWC podcast, I talk about the overwhelming feelings in the world right now. Most of us are barely dealing with our day-to-day duties, much less the weight of what's going on in the world around us. We are inundated with tragedy and fear on a constant basis—not just in our own community, but all over the globe. Times like this seem to exacerbate even small problems, and can be especially challenging for people with substance abuse and mental health issues. In this episode, I discuss the effects Covid has had on my life, and how hard it’s been to hang on to the person I’ve fought so hard to become. I also dedicate time responding to a quote from Nadia Bolz-Weber that resonated with me.

  • Breast Implant Illness

    Send us Fan Mail

On this week's episode of the CWC podcast, I am talking again about breast implant illness. This time, I discuss the unexpected mental side effects of BII, including intrusive thoughts that haven’t fully disappeared. Like me, many of the women I’ve spoken to with BII have experienced similar symptoms, had doctors dismiss their concerns, and have been fighting uphill battles with their insurance companies for what is widely considered an elective procedure. Talking with others, especially a therapist, has been instrumental in my recovery, and I would encourage those who are able to seek out a therapist or community for support. As always, I am just an email away as well.
