I recently had a CT Scan of my heart. Routine every couple of years since I had a heart attack about 6 years ago. My doctor called last week and said there was some weakness in the heart wall.
I immediately asked where it was and what part of the heart it affected. The reason I wanted to know was so that I could visualize that area of my heart being whole and perfect, like the other areas of my heart.
My energy and beliefs was positive and confident, unlike 6 years ago when I lay in a hospital emergency room feeling like I had no control and could do nothing to affect my heart’s healing. I certainly was sending up prayers then, and had hope, but I put all my trust in God and just felt like I had to wait and see if He decided my heart was supposed to heal.
Now, I have learned so much about the law of attraction and the power of the mind to do miraculous things. Working hand in hand with God, we are told in the scriptures that anything is possible. And I am certainly a part of that equation in putting positive focus on what I want.
I am grateful for the brain-body connection. I am grateful we can tell our bodies what to do and I am also grateful for what our bodies tell us we are doing and how we can do them better.
Hunger and thirst is a great example of how our bodies talk to our brains. We know from this feeling that it’s time to eat or drink. We can also get clues from our senses like seeing a cliff in front of us, hearing a car coming, feeling hot or cold, etc may be telling us to do something to help us stay comfortable and safe.
But what if we are making a conscious choice to be hungry and thirsty – fasting or dieting for instance. The brain can certainly logically tell our bodies that we can wait a little longer. But I love the idea that was introduced on the call today that we can invite our spirits to be part of the decision. In fact, letting our spirits lead us actually gives way to the most accurate form of alignment.
Our spirits are eternal in nature and a different, finer matter that doesn’t need food or water. If our spirits are leading, perhaps those trivial bodily needs could, not be controlled, but simply become unnecessary.
I was reminded of a documentary called “Gateway to Hope – Overcoming Heroin Addiction” (see link below)
https://www.amazon.com/Gateway-Hope-Overcoming-Josh-Menning/dp/B07M9WPC3W
In this documentary, several who were interviewed stated that they awoke feeling a need for something to help them not be sick. Essentially their brain was telling them they needed heroin to survive. An addiction is like a hunger or thirst telling the brain there is a life/death need.
Allowing our spirit to lead, would enable us to make decisions based, not on fear of death, but on the choice to live, and live well!
