          • 111. This Episode Hits SO HARD because… Popin Pete

Today I am talking to the Legendary Popin’ Pete, and you can hear my ear to ear smile in my voice! In addition to being dance history royalty, Pete is one of my favorite dancers, teachers, and straight talkers.  He is the first person I turn to when I am looking for a pointed perspective… That’s probably dramatically different from my own. So, if you want to have your mind blown, or if you’ve ever used the word POP in a sentence, or if you’re interested in having a 40+ year career doing something that you love, then this episode is for you!

            Here’s what you’ll learn:

            • How Popin’ Pete learned Popping and Boogaloo from his brother Sam
              • The difference between Hitting and Popping
              • What street dance on the west coast was like 40 years ago
              • The difference between dancers and athletes

Cat Rendic comes from a long line of Entertainment business lineage. • 109. I Got Covid A.K.A. A Private Lesson in NOT Wrestling with Reality

I’m super lucky (and grateful) that the worst part of having Covid (for me) was emotional pain. In this episode, I dig into the difference between painful sensations (like a cough) and painful emotions (like guilt), and why it is so important to experience them both.  This distinction is so important for physical performers in high stakes circumstances like dancers and choreographers. In this episode, I explain that managing your mind around a circumstance isn’t the same as choosing happy thoughts.  If you are a person who is a HUMAN, this one’s for you, and this is what you’ll learn:

                • The difference between physical and emotional pain.
                • What happens when we avoid both types of pain.
                • Why avoiding our unwanted emotions is dangerous.
