Well, that wasn't fun, so let's not talk about it at all. We kid, but Matt and Carter aren't here on this week's Roost Podcast to hit you over the head with this one. Not a result we're happy to see, but we're not down on where the Owls are after two games despite the ugly nature of this one. A few small, positive observations from Matt's trusty notebook, and let's all move on to Western Michigan.

The No. 4 Texas Longhorns have high hopes and aspirations for the 2026 season and will learn how they stack up against them in Week 2.

A strong visiting crowd helped UTSA enjoy a crowd of over 33,000 as the Roadrunners took care of business against an outmatched UTRGV squad. While 45-16 looks good on the final ledger, the performance left quite a bit to be desired, leading to a muted response from fans, players, and coaches after the win. Carter is back! He and Matthew kick off the 2026 season with a recap of a rather complete showing from the Rice football in their season opening win over Houston Christian. It wasn't a perfect day by any means, but the offense looked as good as it has under head coach Scot Abell so far and the defense was stellar from start to finish. There's a lot of good to unpack in this result.
