It's a problem as old as time. Your child has a friend with an older sibling who knows more than they should, and this becomes an issue for your family when you're faced with 'the others are doing it'.

We recently got this text in from a listener:

Hi lads, I have an 8 year-old daughter, she's a really nice, shy kid but she tends to be easily influenced by others. She hangs around in the front of the house with a group of girls her own age. However, one of the girls has a much older sibling who seems to tell her things that aren't suitable. She's then telling her friends, including my little one. Now I'm being faced with awkward questions around relationships and sex, and she's also looking to watch things which aren't way too old for her because 'the others are'. How do I tackle this? I don't want to ostricise her from her friends, but I also can't let this continue”

In a Mind Yourself Now special, Aoife Lee from Parent Support joined Dermot and Dave with some top tips on how to let your kids fit in without causing chaos at home.

Fireworks, costumes, the door ringing constantly with trick or treaters, Halloween is a scary and noisy time for the furry people in our lives.

After 33 years of marriage, a listener to Dermot and Dave has made an ASTOUNDING discovery about her husband.

When they go to bed, she will close her eyes and head off to the land of nod. Her husband, however, doesn't close his eyes at all. Instead, he will lie in the dark and wait for sleep to come to him.

When comedians were forced off tours because of Covid, a lot of comedians had to 'pivot'. And for Terry Alderton, there was no better way to pivot than to take up playing piano.
