  • How To Avoid Back To School Stress
Packing schoolbags, making the packed lunch and putting the scratchy uniform back on, no matter what your age, there's no doubt that you remember that 'end of summer' feeling.
For lots of children, it's very exciting to go back to school or to start school because it means a chance to see their friends and go back into the yard.
But for some, the thoughts of going to school can be incredibly stressful whether that's being apart from parents, or worrying about interacting with schoolmates every day.
And of course, this has absolutely been amplified by Covid-19, meaning that children have been out of the classroom for around 6 months and surrounded by their family all day.
To help alleviate some of the back to school stress, Mind Yourself Now with Dermot and Dave caught up with Aoife Lee from Parent Support.
Aoife had some top tips on everything from dealing with the first day wobbles to talking to your children about getting back after lockdown and of course, how to get your kids back into a routine that doesn't involve going to bed at 10pm.

  • 'Weight And Health Shouldn't Be Confused'-An Expert View On How To Look At Weight
Recently, there was a discussion on Dermot and Dave which got the biggest reaction we've probably ever had to anything we've covered before.
The question was 'should you tell your friend if they're overweight?' and it had listeners divided. Some felt that you should, some felt that you shouldn't and others thought that the topic shouldn't be discussed at all.
One thing that was apparent across the show and the days that followed is that it is a highly emotive and personal thing for a lot of us and it's something that we wanted to revisit to have a bigger discussion.
Emma Murphy is a psychotherapist specialising in Disordered Eating and Founder and Clinical Director of Eating Freely.
She joined Dermot and Dave to give her expert view on the original question as well as discussing how important it is to not link exercise to weight loss and why being healthy and happy is the most important thing, no matter your size.

  • "If We Want The Pubs To Open, It's On Every Single One Of Us" Keith Barry
Keith Barry has spoke about about the delay of Phase 4 by the government.
A financial support package for pubs which still can't open is being considered by the government.
Several Ministers are working on a scheme for businesses which remain shut due to Phase 4 of lifting Covid-19 restrictions being delayed by three weeks.
Pubs won't reopen until at least August 31st, following advice from the National Public Health Emergency Team, which is concerned it would lead to an increase in community transmission of the virus.
Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Leo Varadkar says it's too early to say what the extra supports for pubs will be.
Keith joined Dermot & Dave after posting a series of tweets last night.
Was just in the local shop which is small - medium sized. 4 customers including me. I was the only one wearing a mask. The guy serving me had his mask down and eating - then put his mask on and served with no sanitizer. The pubs are not the problem. #phase4 WE ARE ALL THE PROBLEM
    — Keith Barry (@KeithpBarry) August 4, 2020
Pubs not opening on Monday. I feel pubs should be trusted they can accommodate their customers safely alongside gastropubs and restaurants - most important would be to put a curfew of 10pm or 11pm when the real messiness can’t be avoided. RT if you agree !
    — Keith Barry (@KeithpBarry) August 4, 2020
I don't think it's my DNA.I don't think it's genetics. My resolve and desire to be better and more positive every day no matter what crap life throws at me comes from MENTAL programming to be the best possible version of myself. I fail regularly at that. BUT I try and try again.
