David Scott talks to us about his most recent HBO Real Sports segment surrounding the weeks that preceded the coronavirus lockdown and why sports refused to shut down. David is a veteran television journalist and Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel's first Producer/Correspondent. His work as a network news producer has won some of the industry’s highest honors, including five News and Documentary Emmy awards, two Columbia-Dupont awards, and the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists Prize.

As a Real Sports producer, David broke the story of the police shooting of minor leaguer Robbie Tolan on his parent’s front porch after being mistaken for a car thief. The Tolan shooting and David’s Real Sports segments about the American race gap in swimming and the 2009 collapse of the Dallas Cowboys’ practice facility earned Sports Emmy nominations.
