Dexter premiered on Showtime 20 years ago today, so Covino and Rich each pick a Mount Rushmore of TV characters from the last 20 years, one comedy spot required. They agree on Dexter Morgan and Saul Goodman and split on the rest, with Tony Soprano, Leon Black, Ted Lasso and Kenny Powers all making a list. Then the guys accuse Sonny Gray of hiding pine tar on his neck in the wild card loss to the Yankees, which sends them through the all-time busted moments, from Joe Niekro's emery board to Dennis Rodman's "she fell from the ceiling" excuse. Drake Maye lands in the Fart Corner, and Rich gives his Week 5 NFL picks in Dicky Doo's Dope Picks. Use code CRSHOW at DraftKings

Tom Brady said "piss missile" and "oh sh*t" on the same Fox broadcast this week, then apologized to the grandmas watching at home, and Covino and Rich are convinced nobody was actually offended. They run that theory through Will Flemming's call for the Red Sox to drill Austin Wells and Arch Manning's apology to Holly Rowe, and ask who is really calling networks to complain. The episode opens with Fury vs Joshua finally set for December 11 in Cardiff, which sends C&R through the matchups we never got, from Whitaker vs Mayweather and Tyson vs Butterbean to Heathcliff vs Garfield, Brady vs Rodgers in a Super Bowl, and Jordan vs Hakeem in the Finals. Rich closes with Dicky Doo's Dope Picks, including a Chargers and Seahawks teaser, Jameis Winston and the Giants, and a 49ers pick of the week that has him promising to wear a cardinal costume every day until his birthday if Arizona pulls it off. Mets prospect Mitch Voit went viral this week because the internet is convinced a man that good looking has to be AI generated. He isn't. That sends Covino and Rich into a full episode about names and fakes, starting with Jaylen Waddle calling Bo Nix "Tua" in a Broncos huddle, then working through Trump's run at Tua Tagovailoa, the White House introduction that produced "Mike McGwire and Sammy Susser," Flavor Flav greeting Miley Cyrus as Gwen Stefani, John Travolta's "Adele Dazeem," and the interview where Rich called Ice Cube "Ice-T" to his face and waited a decade for forgiveness. Then they play Real or AI with a shoplifting J.Lo lookalike, two lightning strikes, an inflatable ocean suit, and a jet ski wipeout that is unfortunately authentic. Rich closes with his NFL teaser card for the week and a Mets season defined by a billion dollars of infielders dropping the same pop up

Matt Leinart grew up without travel ball, year-round showcases, or a coach telling an eight-year-old to pick one sport, and now he has two boys in the middle of all of it. The Big Noon Kickoff analyst joins Steve Covino and Rich Davis on Overpromised on behalf of DraftKings Gameday with a blunt message for parents: if a coach tells your kid he can only play one thing, get away from that coach, because the cream rises to the top eventually no matter what sport a kid lands on. It turns into a full throwback episode from there. Leinart gets into the 6U All-Star grind, how the Throwbacks podcast with Jerry Ferrara came together over one long phone call, the one social media trend his wife still cannot get him to do, and the theory that you cannot really know who you are dating until you have watched them survive a football season.
Then Covino and Rich open the 80s and 90s vault for a crush draft that runs from Alyssa Milano and Mona to Samantha Fox, Kim Fields, Miss Elizabeth, Elisabeth Shue and the number one answer on the board, before closing on Carrie Underwood's 14th year of Sunday Night Football and the first NFL bet of the season.

Two weeks out from kickoff and the news won't cooperate. Disney and the NFL teamed up on the Champions Collection, so Covino and Rich go through every one of the 32 team characters, from the Bills getting the Beast to the Colts getting Horace Horsecollar, and argue about whether a grown man without kids can actually wear this stuff in public.
Then it gets uglier. Jed York, the owner of the 49ers, got picked up in a prostitution sting outside a trailer park in East Palestine, Ohio, with $140 and a Yankees shirt. Rich defends him, and the argument is sharper than it sounds: if the culture celebrates sex work on one hand, it doesn't get to torch the customer on the other. Covino isn't fully sold. Harvey Levin gets dragged into it. The one word doing all the work is consensual.
And a second grade teacher in Atlanta gave the guys their new favorite idea. She built a Fart Corner in her classroom so kids could pass gas without leaving class. Covino heard it differently, decided it should be a punishment, and now Overpromised has a weekly segment. Caleb Williams, Jed York, Deshaun Watson and Enes Kanter are the first four in.

Danielle Fishel and Patrick Renna are thirty years past Boy Meets World and The Sandlot, and both of them now spend their weekends on a Little League field yelling things they immediately regret. They join Covino and Rich on Overpromised to talk about Dugout Dads, the comedy series that reunites most of the original Sandlot cast, premiering August 26 on Patrick Renna's YouTube channel. Patrick explains how the idea came from a real championship loss where the parents were crying in the parking lot while the kids played tag five seconds later, and why he had to apologize to a rival coach who unfollowed him on social media. Danielle explains what it feels like to have people watch her go to high school for three decades, why she said yes to the show immediately, and what it was really like coaching, parenting and dancing eight hours a day at the same time. Rich also finds out on the air whether the kids on his team actually like him as much as he says they do. Plus first concert confessions, which 90s movies survive a screening with your own kids, the Gen Z assistant who did not get Field of Dreams, and how Travis Kelce ended up naming a dog after Wendy Peffercorn

Mark Walter bought the Lakers in October at a $10 billion valuation and just sold them to Josh Kushner and Bob Iger for $12.5 billion, clearing a $2.5 billion profit in under a year. Covino and Rich react to the biggest flip in sports history and then dig up the other great steals: Steinbrenner getting the Yankees from CBS for $10 million, Jerry Jones buying the Cowboys for $140 million, Blockbuster passing on Netflix at $75 million, Facebook grabbing Instagram for a billion, Manhattan for a satchel of beads, and the part of the Babe Ruth sale nobody bothers to explain. There is also a $600 hair restoration helmet that showed up on a clearance shelf in Idaho for fifty bucks. Then it is time for They Might Be Ass, where Rich goes through the Arizona Cardinals schedule game by game and explains why the Carson Beck preseason hype is a trap and why Vegas setting the win total at three and a half is still too generous. And because today is the anniversary of South Park's 1997 debut, the guys count down their top three adult cartoons of all time, with Beavis and Butt-Head, Ren and Stimpy, Gravity Falls, Family Guy and South Park all in the mix. Jonah Hill told a podcast he would annihilate anybody who tested him, the internet turned it into a week of memes, and Covino and Rich are taking his side. That leads into the real debate: would you buy Jonah Hill as an action star? Bob Odenkirk did it in Nobody. Liam Neeson did it in Taken. Steven Seagal never looked the part and still ran the 90s, and Rich finally admits what he used to do with a ponytail and a bathrobe in his mother's kitchen. Before that, the guys dig into celebrations in sports after Mets rookie Jefry Yan leaped off the mound and set baseball on fire, breaking down why hitters can bat flip and moonwalk while a pitcher having fun is treated like a felony. Then football is officially back, which means the guys are reissuing the one Covino and Rich rule every new couple ignores: date someone a full calendar year before you decide anything, because the person you met at the beach in July has no idea what you turn into between now and Valentine's Day. Episode 150 of the uncensored bonus pod from Fox Sports Radio.

LeBron James is a Philadelphia 76er, and his No. 23 jersey just became the best selling jersey ever for a player joining a new team in the first 48 hours across all sports, passing Shohei Ohtani's 2023 Dodgers record. Covino and Rich dig into what that says about LeBron's pull at 41, then settle which LeBron jersey you buy and keep forever once he retires, before laying out the official Covino and Rich jersey rules: when you temporarily retire a traded player's jersey, why grown men should stick with the legends, the Yankee rule, and the only acceptable way to put your own name on the back. From there it's the Shaq debate (90s pinstripe Magic or Lakers purple and gold), Arizona State becoming the first school in the country to offer a content creation major and whether any parent should cough up $100,000 a year for a kid to study influencing, and a full rundown of must have backyard games, from cornhole to a ten dollar HomeGoods ring toss to an argument about how to pronounce badminton that nobody wins. John Harbaugh's first team meeting as a New York Giant went viral for all the wrong reasons, but Covino & Rich think the internet is blaming the wrong side of the room. The guys break down the speech, the dead silence that followed, and why the most awkward speeches ever given still belong to Steve Buscemi and Chris Farley. Then Henry Winkler stops by Overpromised with a run of sports stories nobody expects from a guy who says he had no room in his brain for sports: the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar game-worn jersey he accidentally threw in the laundry, the ball Magic Johnson stole out of heaven, pitching for the Happy Days softball team, running into Tom Brady at an Italian restaurant, the Adam Sandler phone call that turned into The Waterboy, and the surprise Patrick Mahomes had waiting for him on the field at SoFi. Plus, Henry is still waiting on Mahomes to take him up on that dinner. The full uncut interview is on Patreon.com/CovinoAndRich, and Hazardous History Season 2 airs Sunday nights on The History Channel.
