  • David Finest Sports Cars

    Short version in English:

"Signa Holding is under pressure: declining sales in the shops, higher costs for construction and high interest rates make it necessary to change some things. In June, Signa Holding had once again promised financial support to the ailing e-commerce subsidiary Signa Sport UNit. With 150 million euros, both the operational business and necessary investments of the group should be secured until 2025. Previously, SSU had reported that sales in the second quarter had fallen by almost 24% to 195 million euros and the operating loss had increased to 59 million euros. At the same time, it was announced that the retailer Sport Check would also be sold to a competitor. Now Sports Direct parent Frasers wants to take over the omnichannel retailer.

The takeover should enable Frasers to expand its presence in Germany, one of the largest sports markets in Europe.
The 34-store retailer is said to have sales of around €350m. As part of Frasers, Sport Scheck is expected to benefit from the group's ""elevation strategy"", which has led to strong performance across the business through investment in shop concepts, digital capabilities and strengthened brand relationships, it said.
The closing of the transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2024. Signa is thus drawing a line under the Sport chapter."
On 15 October, amazon.de celebrates its 25th anniversary. To celebrate, the online retailer now reveals the 25 best-selling products in Germany. No. 1 is Adele 25, a music album; No. 2 to 5 are technical aids such as chargers, cables and FRitzbox, No. 6 is cat litter, No. 9 is the German Civil Code, No. 15 is Fifty Shades of Grey, several other books, No. 24 is Soda Stream glass bottles and No. 25 is batteries.
"The award was presented recently at the IGDS World Department Store Summit (WDSS) in Dubai.
Every two years the arward is presented by the International Group of Department Stores (IGDS). 45 members from 37 countries are represented with more than 1200 retail stores on five continents and a total turnover of 45 billion Euros.
As the winner, the KaDeWe Group with its three luxury department stores KaDeWe in Berlin, Alsterhaus in Hamburg and Oberpollinger in Munich received the award for the “Most Innovative Department Store in the World” for the first time.
In the other award category “World’s Best Team at a Department Store,” the Wine & Spirits team at KaDeWe in Berlin was voted one of the top three in the world, taking third place.
Thailand’s Central Group holds a 50.1 percent stake in the KaDeWe Group, while Austrian conglomerate Signa holds the remaining 49.9 percent. Expansions are due in the first quarter of 2025 with the Carsch store in Düsseldorf and the Lamarr in Vienna."
"“In the second quarter of 2023, Loewe was still in first place among the “hottest brands” that the online company Lyst regularly determines. Now the Spaniards have been dethroned by an Italian label:
    1) MIU MIU -> With over 223 million views on TikTok and a campaign starring Emma Corrin, Ethel Cain and Zaya Wade, Miu Miu's fall-winter collection has had a strong impact on sales."""" The logo Cashmere cardigan was the second most searched product in the quarter. Searches for cardigans are up 44%,"" reports Lyst.
    2) LOEWE
    3) PRADA
    4) BOTTEGA VENETA
    5) VERSACE"""

International roll-out of Thomas Sabo´s new pop-up stores

The newly rolled-out pop-up concept is based on Charm Club, a community concept founded in April 2023.

The first locations of the completely redesigned pop-up stores were realized in the Alstertal shopping center in Hamburg and in the Pasing Arcaden in Munich. Further implementations will follow in the Shoppi Tivoli shopping center in Zurich as well as in the Spanish El Corte Ingles department stores nationwide. On the Spanish Costa Brava, in Barcelona and on Ibiza the implementations have already taken place.

In order to ensure the most flexible adaptation possible to the different sized spaces starting from 18 sq m, the focus is on a modular design of the furniture used. Presented are the latest products of the Charm designs, but activities for an extended brand experience, such as raffles or different marketing campaigns are also implemented.

Thomas Sabo, the company’s founder said in a statement, “With the new approach for the Charm Club, we are targeting the young audience and the clientele of tomorrow and implementing this with a completely new POS concept as well as various activities for our community.”"

"Saboteur recently opened in Manchester on New Cannon Street in the Arndale Centre, offering both the Fine Piercing and Petite Collections.

Further openings in the UK are planned in Leeds and Cambridge, according to Sabo.

The market launch initially only took place online in 2021, followed by stationary stores in Austria and Germany and an address in Paris last year.

For the UK launch, the company announced a poster campaign entitled ""Lend us your ears"", which will run alongside the opening in Manchester"

"""Clothing retailer Peek & Cloppenburg is expanding its presence in Eastern Europe, opening stores in Craiova, Romania, and Riga, Latvia.

In addition to the iconic fragrances, make-up collections and new product lines such as leather goods, jewelry and accessories are offered in an area of around 95 sq m. Mastermind Ben Gorham, who founded Byredo in Stockholm in 2006, was also responsible for the interior. The store concept reflects the philosophy of the brand, every detail was personally curated by the Gorham to implement the interplay of materials and traditional craftsmanship in exquisite tension.
In 2022, the majority of the fragrance and beauty brand was acquired by the “House of Love Brands” Puig."
"Unleash Your Nature (UYN), part of the Italian sports and cycling goods manufacturer Trerè, is active in Germany with its subsidiary Tre Vertrieb GmbH for the stores and sales.
Following the launch of the first retail space in Zweibrücken Fashion Outlet, the rollout will continue in downtown Cologne, then Wolfsburg, Nuremberg and Düsseldorf. The company plans to open 40 stores in Germany by the end of 2024.
Currently, UYN is already represented at: KaDeWe in Berlin, Wöhrl in Nuremberg, McTrek Outdoor Sports and various Intersport partners.

"What do you immediately think of when it finally gets colder outside, you see the morning mist and the pumpkins are piling up in the vegetable department at the supermarket? exactly strong, full-bodied espresso with pumpkin pie sauce in foamed milk, garnished with autumnal pumpkin pie spices - cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves, in other words the PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE from Starbucks! So here are a few interesting facts about the company.

    Sales: USD 32.2 billion

    Number of Starbucks stores: 35,711"

Barbie, the well-known toy brand cherished by generations, has ventured into the metaverse in collaboration with Gamefam, a game developer. This partnership with Mattel, Barbie's parent company, aims to bring the beloved Barbie Dream House into the virtual world of Roblox. The result is an exciting new experience called "Barbie DreamHouse Tycoon" that invites users to immerse themselves in the enchanting Barbie universe, personalize their avatars and discover a range of Barbie-related fashion offerings.

louisvuitton’s latest luxe-offering is a home good like none other. Taking inspiration from the iconic Noé BB bag, the French luxury house solidifies the silhouette of the bag in the form of a porcelain vase. The ultra-luxe vase is rendered with the exact dimensions of the classic Noé BB handbag and captures details down to the soft folds of leather and canvas with an allover Monogram pattern.

Those interested can find the vase available online for $2,390 USD, making it more expensive than the actual bag itself."
Totally un-shirted! The light blue lumberjack shirt that the national coach wore to the international match against the USA divides the nation. Not because the flannel overshirt is ugly, as tastes differ. But because of Julian Nagelsmann. He has already attracted attention with exalted styles in the past. "The exact look on Sandro Wagner or Jogi Löw - and people would have freaked out," wrote Annette Weber smugly in BILD (the umbrella line "Totally enthemd" was too good not to adopt). And because the original Van Laack costs 309.95 euros, the tabloid recommends its readers cheaper alternatives from Esprit, Hollister or C&A. This is probably not what the DFB outfitter had in mind. Especially since Julian Nagelsmann would have found alternatives at Van Laack, as a look at the range for the national team shows. I find it interesting that the first question after the international match was about Hamed. The American coach couldn't believe it. Nor could I, to be honest. Van Laack will be rubbing its hands with glee over this marketing.

  • Retailtalker x Ladage&Oelke

    Also. Auf geht’s…

    English short version:

A 2-digit decline in the fashion industry makes us sit up and take notice. Was it the warm autumn? Was it the strong previous year?was it the resurgent online trade? a little bit of each. what we do know: customers are holding back. More and more, more and more often. Even in online trade there was a decline to report. Less money to spend after the travel season, full wardrobes, nothing new in fashion and the price attacks of the discounters who sell quantities but don't produce a big receipt. Add to this not exactly inspiring trading places, as the next news item will show in a moment. But the truth is that this is just a snapshot. The average is a double-digit minus, but there are winners and losers.
he German Textile, Footwear and Leather Goods Trade Association (Handelsverband Textil Schuhe Lederwaren, BTE) has conducted a survey to find out what customers dislike most about shopping for clothing in the city centres. According to the survey, the consumers most frequently criticised the many empty shops, closely followed by the "poor condition of buildings and squares ('eyesores')" . . Almost half of the survey participants also complained about the "increasingly poor accessibility by car".Also high on the list of criticisms was the range of services in the city centres. For example, 45 percent of the respondents complained about "too many one-euro shops, junk shops", 37 percent disliked the "monotonous assortment of the fashion trade" and 33 percent the "not enough high-quality" gastronomy. Also high on the list of criticisms was the range of services in the city centres. For example, 45 percent of the respondents complained about "too many one-euro shops, junk shops", 37 percent disliked the "monotonous assortment of the fashion trade" and 33 percent the "not enough high-quality" gastronomy. The general condition of the city centres also met with criticism. Consumers complained about "too much rubbish and dirt" and "too little greenery". Another frequent complaint was the unreliable public transport system.

The only German location of the French department store chain Galeries Lafayette will close at the end of 2024 after almost 30 years. The lease for the store on Friedrichstrasse in Berlin with property owner Tishman Speyer will not be extended. There are already advanced plans for a subsequent use: Berlin's Senator for Culture Joe Chialo would like to house the Central and Regional Library in the building. In 1996, the department store was one of only a few outside France to move into the building, designed by French architect Jean Nouvel, on Friedrichstrasse in Berlin.
Deichmann subsidiary onygo will close its 28 stores in Germany by August 2024 at the latest. This will affect 280 employees.

The entire building received a new facade color and now shines in new, beautiful splendor at Graben 22. Upon entering the luxury store, the mosaic floor in Hermès' characteristic colors of gray, beige and gold immediately catches the eye. A clear eye-catcher is the curved staircase that connects all three floors.

After more than two years of tests with recycled plastic bottles, the Danish company announced on Monday that it had found that this material did not reduce carbon emissions. We have tested hundreds and hundreds of materials. It was simply not possible to find such a material," Lego CEO Niels Christiansen told the Financial Times newspaper. .The difficulty was finding a material that was environmentally friendly but had the same colour, shine and sound as the oil-based original. Lego continues to research and does not give up.

    Short English version:

Since Corona, it is well known that buying behaviour has changed. Some companies have succeeded in compensating for the decline in sales due to lower quantities by increasing prices. Tchibo has not succeeded. As already known, Tchibo has suffered a loss of € 167 m despite a turnover at the previous year's level. In the previous year, the company reported a profit of +€176m. The reason for the record loss was lower contribution margins as a result of "dramatically increased" costs for raw materials, energy and freight as well as disrupted supply chains. Coffee and cotton have become more expensive. At the same time, people were buying less promotional goods after the pandemic ended and it had not been possible to pass on the increased purchase prices. "We will put coffee more in the foreground in the future," the CEO told the "Handelsblatt" - but denied a complete change of course. What is now becoming known, however, are the plans for getting back on the road to success. The entire travel business will be discontinued after 25 years. The action principle with something new every week is a bit worn out and too many articles have already been seen 10 times. I have been lacking the creativity to attract customers for a long time.

Like many people, I love to grate Parmesan cheese not only over my pasta, but also to eat it as small pieces. If there's a little crunch from now on, it could be because you've bitten a microchip. To protect themselves from product piracy, manufacturers of Parmigano Reggiano are taking a new and unusual approach. Because real Parmesan is often counterfeited due to its high price, producers in Italy are now building new types of microchips into the cheese wheels. This makes it possible to prove the authenticity of the cheese and distinguish it from fakes. The microchips developed by the US company p-Chips are made of silicone and are smaller and more stable than the commercially available RFID chips. According to tests, they can survive a bath in stomach acid - for up to three weeks. According to the manufacturer, they can therefore be eaten without hesitation and are excreted again in the normal way. I'm curious to see if they get away with this stunt. In any case, I have no desire in future to consume all foodstuffs of original origin such as champagne, Frankfurt Green Sauce, Wiener Schnitzel, feta cheese, Parma ham, Irish whiskey and many other things with microchips. Later, they can scan my stomach contents and send me suitable advertising offers. No thanks…

"Temu is the internet's new discount store with bargain prices that rival dollar chains.

It's run as a marketplace where merchants mostly based in China sell directly to consumers.
Since its US launch in September, it has become the most downloaded app on Google and Apple. Temu is fast becoming the internet's local dollar store.

This Chinese-owned, but US-headquartered e-commerce platform, is run as a marketplace where sellers – who are predominantly based in China – sell products to customers in the US, Canada, Europe, and Australia. It consists of an app and website and has made waves in the US since its launch in September.

Its splashy marketing campaigns – including two 30-second spots at this year's Superbowl, which were estimated to cost $14 million – set out to convince shoppers that it's possible ""to shop like a billionaire"" even when you're penny-pinching.

And it seems to be working. Temu's app sped past Amazon, TikTok, and Instagram to reach the top of the download charts on both Apple and Google Pay, and its ultra-low prices have made it a prime target for social media ""haul"" videos where consumers are dubbing it the US' new version of the dollar store.

Tapestry acquires Versace, Michael Kors and Jimmy Choo

“The merger will create a new, strong global luxury house,” Tapestry chief executive Joanne Crevoiserat said.

U.S. luxury goods company Tapestry is acquiring Capri Holding for a total of $8.5 billion. The deal brings Tapestry’s brands, including Kate Spade and Stuart Weitzman, and Capri’s Jimmy Choo and Versace labels under one roof. The two companies have annual sales of more than $12 billion and adjusted operating profits of nearly $2 billion. Capri shareholders are being offered $57 per share by Tapestry – a premium of nearly 65 percent over the previous day’s closing price. Capri’s shares were trading at $54.90 in pre-market trading on Wall Street. The merger will also bring a $200 million reduction in ongoing costs over three years, according to Chief Financial Officer Scott Roe. The transaction is expected to close in 2024.

Tapestry – then known as Coach – acquired handbag maker Kate Spade in 2017 for $2.4 billion. That same year, Capri, formerly known as Michael Kors, acquired British shoe maker Jimmy Choo for $1.2 billion and a year later bought Versace for $2.2 billion.

The merger of the U.S. luxury brands is expected to give the company more power, as it is lagging behind the European luxury groups, above all LVMH, which owns 75 brands. Kering also recently made its presence felt by acquiring a 30 percent stake in the Valentino fashion label."

    English short version:

Numerous luxury companies have published their results in the last 14 days. With a few exceptions, one can say: luxury is booming. Miu Miu +50%, Hermes 25.2%, LVMH 20%, Prada 18%. Moncler 24%, ZEgna and Todds at over 20%. On top of that, margins have increased significantly. Hermes 44% , LVMH 40.5%, Gucci, 35% Prada 22%, Moncler 19%. So there is real money being made. Only Gucci weakened with only 1% growth. But the big clean-up has already begun. Bosses out, new bosses on board. Fireworks of new collections in the pipeline. But that points the way to success. Creation, craftsmanship, pop-up stores that people talk about, digitalisation.
Yves Rocher is closing its shops. After many branches of Galeria Kaufhof, Reno and Goertz, the French cosmetics company is also saying goodbye to German city centres. "With its current business model, Yves Rocher is no longer able to operate sustainably and successfully," the company announced. The 140 shops are to be gradually closed in the coming months. Up to 9,000 shops will close their doors for good this year. In a normal pre-crisis year, this figure was 5,000," predicts the HDE. The obvious interpretation: the internet was simply slept through and not taken seriously. Among other things, this led to the company not reaching the younger target group. So once again the call to all retailers to look at the linking of their sales channels and not to hope that without changes the biggest inflation of the post-war period, the changed buying habits can be overcome by waiting. Look at the success of the luxury industry.
"The Japanese sports shoe specialist Asics once again increased its sales in Europe in the second quarter of the 2023 financial year. In the months of April to June, net sales grew by 12.1 percent compared to the corresponding prior-year level, the subsidiary Asics EMEA said on Tuesday.

The operating margin in the region, which includes Europe, the Middle East and Africa, reached a level of 10.4 percent in the past quarter. All product categories contributed to the profitable growth, the company explained."

"The Lyst Index is a quarterly ranking of the hottest fashion brands and products. Lyst is a fashion technology company and premium shopping app used by more than 200 million people each year to discover and purchase items from brands and stores. The formula behind the Lyst Index takes into account Lyst shoppers' behavior, including searches on and off the platform, product views and sales. To determine brand and product awareness, the formula also incorporates social media mentions, activity and engagement statistics worldwide over a three-month period. Ranked #1 Loewe ( Q1/2023 at #5), followed by Prada (#1) and Versace ( #8) Moncler this quarter at #8 has not been able to hold the baton and has dropped 5 places. Perspectives and classic languages such as columns, architraves, symmetries and enfilades were used- Through the materials used such as oxidized and hammered brass. The store is located in the former Emilio Pucci store on the corner of 71st and Madison, a few doors down from where it was before. Neighbors include Ralph Lauren, a block away, The RealReal directly across the street and John Elliott next door. Other future locations include South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Lanvin deputy manager said that region is a big priority.g, limestone, marmorino and beige velvet give the store a sparse look without being cold.

The new multi-level store at 668 Fifth Avenue, between 52nd and 53rd streets, features Abercrombie & Fitch's women's and men's collections, as well as dedicated shop-in-shop space for the children's brand Abercrombie Kids and the adult activewear brand YPB (Your Personal Best). The new Abercrombie & Fitch store is designed to feel like an open space. This is achieved through the use of light sources such as illuminated walls, curved columns and eccentric chandeliers. The storefront is made of slate, alongside wood, textiles, greenery and textured walls. Parent company Abercrombie & Fitch Co. reported in its latest trading update in May that its Abercrombie label saw sales rise 14% in the quarter, while its Hollister brand fell 7%.The Ohio-based company said it now expects net sales to increase 2% to 4% in 2023""

flagship store in London. The shop in the Soho district was opened last Saturday. On Poland Street
Since then, the brand has been offering its collections on an area of 90 square meters.
For LFDY, the new store is the seventh and at the same time the first outside of mainland Europe."

Fast Retailing is essentially the Uniqulo brand. Uniqulo has just announced its revenues up to Q3 and they are anything but bad.Fast Retailing exceeds plan with significant revenue and profit increases and achieves a record result. In the nine months to 31 May 2023, consolidated sales topped 13.7bn (+21.4% y-o-y) and operating profit rose to 2.12bn (+21.9%).Almost 50% of sales are made outside Japan.UNIQLO shops in the Southeast Asia, North America and Europe regions posted strong above-average results, with growth of 38%.China in particular grew strongly after the removal of all Corona restrictions.Unfortunately, the share of online sales was not reported.

Last week, Amazon Prime Days took place on 11 and 12 July. The first day of Prime Day was the best-selling day in Amazon's history, making this year's Prime Day the biggest Prime Day event ever.Over the course of the two-day Prime Day shopping event, Prime members worldwide bought more than 375 million items, saving more than $2.5 billion, Amazon said in its Prime Day evaluation. It is unknown what sales Amazon and the marketplace retailers achieved on Prime Day. According to an estimate by Adobe Analytics, however, it was 12.7 billion dollars in the USA alone, 6.1 per cent more than in the previous year.

In the entire shopping process - from product advertising to possible exchange - digital options now play an essential role for German consumers. Nevertheless, brick-and-mortar retail is still the most popular place to make purchases. This is the result of a recent study by the international auditing and consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), the results of which have just been published.34 percent of those surveyed said that they shop in stationary shops at least once a week. 23 percent used smartphones, 17 percent used a PC and 14 percent a tablet. Seven percent stated that they shop in virtual reality at least once a week. For many consumers, digital offers have become indispensable along the entire customer journey. Almost half of the participants in the study "often" or "almost always" use their smartphones to research products. What does this mean for retailers? it is clearly a matter of a close, seamless integration of all sales channels and the maximum integration of digital technologies. The customers are far enough along in their experience. The older ones, who make up the bulk of the population, are still partly behind, but the behaviour of the younger ones is decisive for the future. The so-called old are always imitating the young. So take heart!
