    Interesting start to a series

*Book source ~ Purchased at Amazon
Seventeen-yr-old Charlotte Covington and her mother have left jolly olâ England for the United States of âMurica. On the Titanic. Ok, we all know where this story is heading, right? But this has a bit of a twist in the form of Dr. Henry Beckwith. The good Doctor is more than just a doctor and researcher. And on the fateful night, Charlotte is about to find out what, exactly, he is.
This story starts out 4 days prior to the Titanicâs date with an iceberg and is told from Charlotteâs POV. She and her mother have no prospects after Charlotteâs father dies so they are heading to America to live with her uncle. When her mother becomes ill and the shipâs Dr. is overtaxed, Dr. Beckwith, a passenger, offers to take up some of the slack. And thus he and Charlotte cross paths. I have to admit, there is some suspense even though I knew perfectly well what happened to the Titanic. Hmmmâmaybe itâs because I know exactly what was coming that I felt on edge as Charlotte becomes smitten with Henry. Will the characters I met survive? *bites nails* Other than dragging a bit for me, this well-written short is a good start in what appears to be a Begotten Blood series. Iâll need to look further into those books.
So good, I'm ready for more.
There were times when I was reading Unsinkable that I forgot I was reading at all. The story drew me and left me with a clear picture and feeling of a time I would've loved to have known. It was especially wonderful that the author knew how to *show* me the details of the ship and the dress and the mannerisms of the time without losing me in lengthy discription. She knows how to get right into story telling and keep the pages turning. Once I got to know the characters, I began to care and I found it funny that I knew the ship would sink but they were talking about arriving in New York or making another trip aboard the Titanic, an event that never would happen. Charlotte is endearing, but not nieve and she has many suitors interested in her, but it's the doctor that has caught her attention. With just the right amount of tension I had to read the story straight through. We know there is a vampire on the Titanic, but the twist ending still took me by surprise....leaving me ready for a full novel by Kristen King. Bravo!
    Unsinkable Vampire (Begotten Bloods)
Unsinkable Vampire: A Begotten Bloods NovellaI am not a vampire fan. That said this is a great short story, without a fang in sight King leads you on a merry chase and the most outrageous outcome you cannot imagine. A fun read.
    Needs more
I can't tell you exactly what it was about this book that kept my interest, but it ended all to quickly! When I got to the 'to be continued...' I was really hoping for the next part to be available already. Sadly no, there is another book in the series out, but it's all new characters.
The story was good, though it never hinted at vampires until the very end and then you are just left hanging. All in all it was an enjoyable couple of hours spent reading.

Great twist on a ancient tale
Took me awhile to get into the story, but was really worth the listen. I recommend any yogi to listen to this to gain a better understanding as to why we need yoga.
    Great story, lesser telling
Would you listen to The Secret of Enduring Love again? Why?
Not in this narration. I found the narrator to be very lyrical in the style. Speaking as if reciting a poem and 18 hours of that seemed long. It took time to get used to it and then some details were missed since the narration was quite monotone. High pitching of the voice while quoting some characters was at times disturbing
Who was your favorite character and why?
Kala the God of time. He had magic, horror and amazing surprising transformation in his story.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. Very long with more metaphors than actions.
    Any additional comments?
Good story! A bit long to develop and to captivate. Great knowledge about energy centers and yoga. Touching.
    luscious and soothing
What did you love best about The Secret of Enduring Love?
The calmness that has come over me by listening to this book helped me to deal with many stressful moments. It is very healing
What did you like best about this story?
I liked how it taught me the ancient yogic mythology
Which character as performed by Peter Sklivas was your favorite?
    Of course, Damianti, the heroine
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
    I found it healing.
    Any additional comments?
This book is written in modern lingo. It brings ancient mythology to life and teaches about the 7 gateways to love. Its a nice thing to think about and remember.

    Genres: Romance, Fantasy
    Publisher's Summary:
Belle Bishop, Queen of Witches, is a good witch. Her sister Angelica? Not so much. Belle rules her witchery kingdom using the ancient Wiccan Rede - An' it harm none, do what thy will,' while Angelica runs amuck, casting one mischievous spell after another. But this time, Angelica has gone too far.
It's up to Belle and her former best friend, Atlas, the greatest wizard the earth has ever known, to save Belle's niece, Gia, from Angelica's magical mischief. If they don't, Gia will end up in The Summerland just like her mother did the last time one of Angelica's spells went awry.
Luckily, or unluckily, depending on how you look at it, Belle and Atlas have a little help from Atlas's sons, who are every bit The Three Stooges, as well as an ornery faery named Tinker Hell, and a deck of Tarot Cards waiting for someone to deal their destiny.
    Members Reviews:
    Not Very Good
I read the entire book, but it wasn't easy. I agree with another reviewer about the flow being stilted. In addition, in at least one instance the author lost track of her timeline and a character went straight into an event where a description of something else happening occurred a couple of pages earlier. The dialogue and narrative was written the way someone would speak - someone young and a tad immature. Ginormous and gazillions are not good descriptors unless you are writing for children. Person and tenses sometimes changed inside paragraphs. There were some typos and other grammatical errors that seemed to get worse as the book went on. There was also a rather disappointing lack of good description of the characters. I had no real idea as to what any of them looked like except for Belle. The color of their eyes was a big deal. I also still have no idea as to how old the characters are - especially in relation to one another. Very disappointing from a much-published author.
    Light Uncomplicated Read
This is a nice light read with an intriguing new world for the reader to explore and characters to meet. It was a short quick read that is well outlined in the synopsis and I will not even try to improve on as it hits great highlights. The writing was clean and well edited. While this is a good book, in my opinion, it is a little shallow and I would have liked to have had more meat to sink my teeth into. However, this is a very short read that I believe on reading has a YA target audience, which had I been aware at the onset might have made a difference in my enjoyment of the read. Practical Mischief reads like a novella spinoff from a more complicated series that is an aside, giving you a glimpse of this is how we got here, and as it stands I had difficulty getting emotionally involved with the characters or frankly caring about their outcome. The story is complete and does not leave us with a cliffhanger ending, but there is opportunity for more to come should this continue on into a series. I do like the author's writing style and would recommend this to those wanting a short YA tale to pass the time. I requested and received this book from Netgalley and no compensation was received for this review, other than the opportunity to read a new book and later bought my own copy for my library.
    2.5 Stars
Was really struggling between 2 or 3 stars. 3 because I could have finished it, but 2 because I didn't (though I did get 10% of the way through before deciding).

    Editorial Reviews:
The best-selling author Cat Adams brings us this magical romance with her customarily complex plots, fantastic characters, and a good measure of magic. This novel works on an epic scale - world saving, and the enslavement of humanity. It's lucky the protagonists are up for the job - they are heroes of great magnitude. Upon hearing Tara Ochs' sweet, excitable voice narrating this epic novel, listeners will be tempted to fall into this surreal, alternate reality forever. Fans of Adams' books will not be disappointed by this audiobook.

Why does it have to devolve into soft core porn?
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The story stood fine by itself. I'm not a prude but I don't really want to listen to the way he 'pleasured her with his tongue in the silky folds of skin between her legs' or the way he 'tugged at her erect nipples'.
Would you be willing to try another book from Cat Adams? Why or why not?
I've read or listened to the other series she's written which I enjoyed. At times they became a little more graphic than I prefer but it was a little more integral to the story.
Which character as performed by Tara Ochs was your favorite?
I loved the Bobba. The accent was wonderful and her range in ages and well as sexes was quite good.
Could you see Magic's Design being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Maybe. Even though she might be a little older than the character is in the book I think Kate Winslet would be great.
    Weak on the ending
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I thought the ending was a little weak. The whole book lead to the confrontation with the 'bad guy' only to conclude with very little fanfare
    Any additional comments?
I could do without the soft-porn, I ended up skipping over those sections.

Excellent, Quick, Steamy Sci Fi Romance
This is a quick, steamy Sci Fi Romance. I really liked it and I'm hoping we someday get more in this universe.
Being as this is me, you might expect that there were lots of battles, space chases and alien heads exploding amidst the smexing, but no. This is set on an alien world and deals with cultural issues between two people from vastly different upbringings. Add in that they are living next door to each other because his planet conquered hers and it ups the ante. Just the right pace and I liked the give and take.
Rasmus is an excellent lead - caring, not an alpha, but not a pushover either. Fedni has had her life upended and is still trying to hold on to the life she knew before, to stay stable when everything has crumbled around her. I understood both of them and I really liked how they came to an understanding.
    Awesome
I read this the first day it came out. I couldn't put it down. I want to find out more!

A pleasant dive into the world of Romance
    a world I seldom visit.
The narrator voice of Dennis Kleinmann are comfortable with a weak scottish lilt, but still easy to grasp. After a while I sped up the voice a little and followed the sentences better after that.
I liked the protagonists Bethoc and Malcolm. The story is simple, yet unpredictable.
The plot is nice, but the story never grasped my attention.
I found the scenes of battle and daily life scantily described. And the strong emotions of Bethoc has to little tapestry to carry my whole-hearted attention. Malcom are as imortant and as scantily fleshed out.
This novel works out well, but I'd wish it fleshed out the characters and scenes a little more in detail and pespective.

    Unexpected AWESOMENESS!
Boy! This book was simply awesome... the smex! OMG! It was like listening to poetry. Really deep poetry, but a rock and roll romance, with paranormal! It was freaking awesome!
Misty is totally in love with this band, well the lead singer, so she ditches the norms of her life and goes to a concert. Trevor (o so hotty demon) is the lead singer of the band, and all the band members are DEMONS... that feed off of the energy. Sappy, I know right...but it actually is really good plot line.. the energy from the crowd is amazing, and the more the crowds gets pumped, so does the demons... and they do a feeding exchange...
A muse... (Misty) is the one that will feed a demon for life. None of the demons believe in this legend of the muse, so when Trevor spots Misty in the crowd it was like magic...
Alot of stuff happens...like one awesome smex scene right after the concert! Then other things like the really, really bad people trying to kill Misty because she is not strong yet...
This all does not compare to the way this book is written. I swear it was like listening to sonnets but not. It was freaking awesome... The best smex scenes I have listen to in such a long long time. AMAZING!!!
I so wish Nico Rosso had more book on here...I would scoop them all up without even reading the summary... This was that good!
Narration was perfection... Robins really brought Misty off the pages and made her seem so real. Trevor, not as much as Misty, but still great. I like my male heroes to have that deep baritone voice, but Trevor still worked. I even liked the raspy voice used for Wolfgang and Lee (the band member demons). Now I can't wait to see if Wolfgang and Lee will find their Muses! I really really hope there is more to come... This was awesome...
Instant Buy, Credit, Sale...or whatever... it was that good!
Sorry and what a shame.. but I just didn't like it
This book had such promise as I love love love most Paranormal romances and add a heavy metal rocker type and hey presto it's in my basket. However, I'm afraid I just couldn't get into the whole talking normally one minute then into song lyrics and poetry the next minute (a lot of which just didn't make any sense) it may have been cleverly done but yikes and blahhh blahhh.
Coupled with this, I thought the plot of nice girl Misty meeting Trevor, just about having an orgy within minutes of meeting him, coming to terms that he is thousands of years old and is a Demon and you're his Muse, fighting lots of other demons, having more sex and handing in your notice, could all take place within 20 odd hours.

Wonder Woman ain't got nothing on these gals.
I read all four books in this series, and I absolutely love the creativity involved in bringing the pantheon of gods and goddesses from every culture alive in the Amazons. These books do what good fantasy writing does: make you view previous knowledge in an entirely different light. They also do what great paranormal romance does: make you hungry for characters that are larger than life. Highly recommended.
I loved this series of books
I loved this series of books, I think the author did an excellent job of bringing the characters to life.
    Amazon's are the best
Just loved this whole series. Couldn't wait to read the next book. Highly recommended. I have the whole series and so should you
    outstanding
It was one of the best books I have read in a while. But you have to read all 4 of them, they were great!!!
    Good read
It's a great adventure story (as is the rest of the series), but you have to be willing to look around the erotica that on practically every other page.

Angel has spent years on the run from one possessive alpha, and she has no intention of ever submitting to another - not even Hunter, the man who stars in her most erotic fantasies. But when her former master tracks her down, she has no choice but to turn to the one wolf who can protect her.
Hunter thought ten years apart would diminish the craving he has for Angel. But when he discovers the rogue wolf in his territory, he must face the fact that time has only fanned the flames of his passion for her. To claim her as his mate, hes going to have to fight for her - and give her a reason to stop running.

    Knight Scores!
I read the last words of Her Alpha Protector with my heart beating hard in my chest. The passion, the danger and excitement of Knight's story, kept me both on the edge of my seat, and swooning from the electricity between Angel and her Alpha.
From the moment Angel sensed Hunter, smells him even, across the room of the dingy diner where she eked out her living, I was hooked. Knight never lets us rest for a minute, as she sweeps us away through adventure, both emotional and physical. She carries us into the night, into danger, and to the very brink of death.
One of the things I enjoyed most was the sensory and sensual exploration of what it meant to have the beast inside you. That perfect howl they shared, the stuff of werewolf legends, gave their pairing a whole different dimension. This wasn't just love, this was fate.
I really enjoyed the insights of blending the human and the beast into something altogether different. Seth was a werewolf I loved to hate, selfish and cruel, the antithesis of Hunter, who was more concerned with Angel's happiness and freedom than his own desires. There's a hero for you!
A satisfying tale on every level, I highly recommend this debut offering from Gwen Knight. I can't wait for more from this new author. I hope she entertains and enthralls us with many more stories to come!
    Amazing Debut from Gwen Knight!
    **4.5 Stars**
This novella is an awesome debut from new author Gwen Knight! Her Alpha Protector has everything you would want for a quick read: no filler, all action, romance, intrigue and sexy love scenes.
I love wolf shapeshifters and when I read the blurb for Her Alpha Protector, I pre-ordered right away. Her Alpha Protector, although short, was a very fulfilling read and I must say that's something hard to do. I love reading novellas, but sometimes some just leave you without a sense of satisfaction. However, that was not the case with Her Alpha Protector. I thoroughly enjoyed it from the first page to the very last. There was nothing missing and everything was well put together making this short story feel like a whole book. The pacing flowed effortlessly and I can certainly see myself becoming addicted to this author's writing and storytelling.
The characters, Angel and Hunter, were engaging right from the beginning. Since Angel escaped the clutches of her maker and former alpha, Seth, she has constantly been on the run and has been a lone wolf for years. She was skittish and vulnerable, but she wasn't broken despite what she has been through. There was an underlying strength to her and I adored her as a heroine.
