A worthy Sequel!
~It has been my experience, that once a really good story is told, it is very hard for a sequel to stand up to the original. Not so the case here. We learn more about our main charactersâand the side characters. Benji, Sam, Arman, and Jasperâall have a place in the storyâeven Rolfo. I could go on to explain how and why all these fine folks fit togetherâbut then, you really should read the book to find out for yourself. (No spoilers here)
~I really do think that Lara Nance has done a wonderful job of weaving a story together. There are exhausting elements from book one that develop here in book twoâand will continue to develop in book three.
~Get the entire whole series and enjoy.
Lightweight Steampunk Adventure, if a Bit Girlie
This is the second book in a trilogy, so anyone tempted by this review should probably read the first book before "Rescue". Lady Arabella, our 6 foot heroine, flies about her world in a coal powered airship, going from adventure to adventure and meeting a colorful cast of characters. Although the author is (apparently) American, she has the characters speak in an English manner --perhaps a steampunk convention since the Benjamin Buckle series also follows this approach. She does this well but misses a couple of times, it would be "trousers", not "pants".
It's well written, fast paced and light-hearted, i.e. not to be taken too seriously.
There is a certain amount of girlie stuff, lots of descriptions of clothes, feelings, and a long drawn out romance with the chap who flies with her. The sort of thing one would read in a woman's romantic fiction novel -- SO I HEAR. But this 70 year old adolescent boy was able to put up with that because of the good story.
Steampunk read
Loved this: adventure, escapes, kidnappings, robbery, bad men, GOOD men, Romance - strong woman character with strong man - nice.....read all three in a heartbeat and wished more were available.
Awesome Again!
Still loving the detail descriptions and the way Lara leads you imagination with every page. Love the interaction between characters and the tight bond they have.
Great series of books, so much fun to read.
I have read and greatly enjoyed all 3 books in this airship adventure saga. I have read other books by laura nance as well and they have all been so good to read they are the kind you just can't put down. I would like to say, if you like fictional reading you won't find better reading than these stories by laura nance. Get them, read them, enjoy them. You will, trust me. The contiuing mystery. Urban
