    Publisher's Summary:
From award-winning author Gary A. Braunbeck comes Prodigal Blues, his first foray into non-supernatural horror.
After he finds himself stranded at a truck stop in Missouri, Mark Sieber gets one of the biggest shocks of his life when he recognizes the face of a little girl on a Missing poster as belonging to the same little girl he saw only a few minutes before. Looking around for some sign of her, he comes back to his table in the restaurant to find the little girl sitting there, waiting for him.
"I'm sorry, mister," is all she seems capable of saying.
As the police and media begin to converge on the truck stop, Mark retreats back to his hotel room to call his wife and let her know what's going on, only to be taken hostage by the same people who released the little girl. But his abductors are little more than children themselves.
Ranging in ages from 12 to 19, Mark's abductors are in the process of escaping from a sadistic pedophile known to them only as "Grendel" - a man whose practices include torture and mutilation specifically, mutilation of the face.
Mark's abductors have all been mutilated by Grendel who may be very close behind them and need someone with a "normal face" to help them carry out their plan for justice and returning home.
For the next few days, Mark will come to understand not only the inhuman horror that these children have suffered, but how they eventually learned to fight back and how they discovered that Grendel and his practices are at the center of a very complex network catering to those who tastes run toward the molestation and mutilation of children.

    A unique story
Wow, this book blew me away. Be warned, it's very dark and violent. This is definitely not for the faint of heart. That being said, it was an amazing read. The character development was my favorite part of this book. I really cared for the characters in this book, and was nervous as to what would happen to them.
The narrator does a good job of creating distinct voices for all the characters.
Dark, but well written and unique
What did you love best about Prodigal Blues?
    Very well crafted characters.
What did you like best about this story?
The sort of sing-song chanting voice.
What does Eric Dove bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?
Engaging voice and breadth of characterization
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It's very dark. It makes you think.
    Any additional comments?
This is a horror novel. Not for the squeamish.
I want more from Gary B. please.
Would you consider the audio edition of Prodigal Blues to be better than the print version?
Perhaps, but since I did not READ it I cannot compare the two.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Prodigal Blues?
Too many to list, both good and awful.
    Which scene was your favorite?
I can not tell you. Spoiler Alert. There were a few however.
Who was the most memorable character of Prodigal Blues and why?
Mark. The conversations with his father, and meeting the "uncle" (he was real good too).
    Any additional comments?
This was a unique tale of courage, desperation, ingenuity, love and honor. How can you go wrong when you hit ALL of these marks dead on ~ (pun intended).
It was well read, and moved right along, keeping me hooked all the way through. Any longer would have been a crime.

All Bedbugs are Not Created Equal
This is a very today version of Night Gallery, Amityville Horror, Rosemary's Baby and The Tell Tell Heart.
It is more then just about a bug infestation. At times you will wonder if there are bugs, what is in the basement, is the main character going crazy, why does the husband not like the landlady, how far is the main character going to go? It is a scary story with several twists that you will not see coming. I found it very entertaining and scary.
I am surprised no reviewers have mentioned the main character. I guess because it is politically incorrect. The main character is a woman, who is married and has a baby girl. She talks her husband into letting her quit her well paid job at a law firm, so she can paint. Then months go buy and she never paints a stroke. They continue to pay $400 a week in child care for the little girl. The husband does the cooking and he is very understanding and never lays a guilt trip on her. She insists that they need a bigger a apartment, even though it will be more expensive then what they already are renting. The only have sex about every other week and the husband is loyal. This guy needs to grow some balls.
Even though I did not like the main character, I still loved the story. This is story has enough elements in it that some well known writers would have stretched it out into a lot longer book, I appreciate the brevity.
I almost knocked off a star on the narrator, as I thought maybe she played the child too irritating. The kid sounds pretty spoiled the way she reads it and I am not sure that is how it was written, but considering the wife, maybe so.
    For daytime hours only!!!
Great story Mr. Winters! At one point, I was so engrossed in it, I stopped listening to go have a shower just because the storyline was making me feel so creepy-crawly. Anyone who chooses to listen to this one while in the midst of moving, consider yourself warned!
    Yeah, not the best
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I dont know. Weak story. There were some (very few) interesting underlying scientific nuggets incorporated towards the end, but not much otherwise. I did not feel any connection whatsoever to the characters. It is a short listen but sadly, I would hardly call it "creepy".
What do you think your next listen will be?
Shadow divers. Even though it's non-fiction it is a lot creepier than this book.
What about Elisabeth Rodgerss performance did you like?
She did quite well with the voices, the kid's, the landlord. Really good job.
Was Bedbugs worth the listening time?
    I'm not sure.

Old favorites and some new as well!
I enjoyed these classic tales for their literary quality as well as the great (great great) readers. I hate getting an audio book and the reader is awful. No disappointments here. A good choice of some familar stories (Monkey's Paw and The Black Cat) and some I hadn't heard of-- The Squaw by Bram Stoker, for one. Chilling. Worth the price to listen to during dark and stormy night's drive on an abandoned highway....

    Publisher's Summary:
Welcome to Doug Bradley's Spinechillers, Volume Six, part of the world's largest collection of high-quality, classic horror audiobooks. Are you ready for our latest installment of enthralling horror masterpieces? Good, then we'll begin with Doug's well researched and passionate introduction to the authors and stories in this volume. This is closely followed by his literary majesty, Edgar Allan Poe, with the well-known and classic tale "The Pit and the Pendulum", a visceral account of a man's torment in the prisons of Toledo, during the Spanish Inquisition. Waking in a world of sensory deprivation and disorientation, Poe takes us through every spinechilling detail of terror as the prisoner seeks to evade his captors inventive attempts to end his life.
Catch your breath before an English storytelling legend, Rudyard Kipling's "The Mark of the Beast", which will take you along a mist-bound trail for a soldier's tale of the British Empire stationed in colonial India - and werewolves.
Then, we are proud to unveil our first guest reader, none other than the original - and in our terrified imaginations, the only - Mr Freddy Kreuger himself, Robert Englund. His first Spinechiller reading mesmerizes as he brings us "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge", Ambrose Bierce's famous American Civil War tale. He paints a tantalizingly clear picture of a man's execution and his fantastical escape.
Next up is H. P. Lovecraft's "The Rats in the Walls", a wonderfully chilling story of a descendent's gruesome discovery of the true evil of his family's ancestry.
Volume Six comes to a close with a poem by John Milton Hayes, inspired by the work of Kipling. "The Green Eye of the Little Yellow God" is well known for its opening and gives an overall feel of ironic justice.

    Publisher's Summary:
The second book in the groundbreaking, best-selling trilogy, from the creator of the CSI franchise.
Steve Dark was once a lost soul, torn between his family and his one-of-a-kind talent for hunting and catching serial killers-especially those so-called "level 26" killers whose depravity exceeds law enforcement's official scale of evil. In his reluctant pursuit of justice Dark once crossed the ultimate line, a line that might cause a lesser man to lose himself completely.
Not Dark. When the world took everything from him, when it destroyed the very thing Dark once lived for, it brought a moment of clarity that few before him have witnessed, and sparked a transformation that, several years later, is only just complete.
Dark is now a man on a mission. A mission that no longer requires law enforcement support. A mission unbound by authorities, moral or otherwise, and supported by a mysterious benefactor with unknown goals of her own. A mission that, at long last, allows him to embrace his destiny. Dark is finally ready- ready to take justice to the next level.

    Another good one!
I'd been waiting for Mr Zuiker's new novel. It was worth the wait. Both the first novel, Level 26 and Dark Prophecy offer a totally new approach because they have on-line visuals. So it was watching a good movie as well as listening to a good book. Both are good thrillers, although, this story seemed toned down from the first. I thought the narrators in both books were excellent. I'll be waiting for Mr Zuiker's next book.
    good fucking book!
yes sir it was. and I will look forward to hearing book three
    A Worthy Sequel
This book had me from the start. The author can really build up the suspense. The one draw back is the switch in narrator. The first book Level 26 was read by John Glover and he really added a "creepyness" than made it hard to stop listening. If they had brought Mr. Glover back it would have made this book perfect. But even still it is well worth the money
    Never stopped.
finished in one day, love the series. kept me entertained and wondering. wish there were more.
    the first book was better
the first book in the serious was better. This one lacked the creepiest the the original had.

    Members Reviews:
Good solid follow up to The Strain.
Picks up where the last book left off with New York in chaos, Vampires crawling all over the place sucking blood like there is no tomorrow (possibly this will be the case.
It's now set up nicley for part three. The only down side was that Ron Perlman (who's narration gave The Strain the edge over most audio books) was not reading it. In fairness Daniel Oreskes has a a good go at it but he's no Pearlman.
    Brilliant
What made the experience of listening to The Fall the most enjoyable?
Watched the TV show and thought about buying the book but having concentration levels due to illness at the moment so got this instead, very high quality reproduction and far better than the TV series, Just have to stop falling asleep otherwise you loose your place, its the morphine that does that not the quality of the story!
    Great book
Loved it good story. Better than book one. Good narration. Better than Ron pearlman performance on book one. Look forward to book 3
    Excellent series
My favourite part of the trilogy. Lots of interesting back story for the old hunter. And the introduction of the kickass hoods.
Bit of a technical let down
Sounds like it was recorded in a tin shack during a hail storm with a home made microphone. If Alexander Graham Bell heard this he'd think we hadn't taken a single step forward in sound quality since his first phone call. Such a shame after the first one

    Editorial Reviews:
English author William Hope Hodgson first published his spooky supernatural Carnacki the Ghost Finder serial detective stories in 1910. One of these tales, Carnacki the Ghost Finder: Gateway of the Monster, narrated with creepy macabre delight by Britain's David Ian Davies, eerily tells of Carnacki being confronted with an angry and powerful spirit within the haunted halls of an old mansion that was also the site of three brutal murders. It ends up being one long night for the both of them. Fans of Sherlock Holmes will certainly appreciate.
    Members Reviews:
    Good Carnacki Story!
I haven't read many stories about Carnacki the Ghost Finder, but this one encouraged me to order the book in order to get more of his adventures! Carnacki's character is definitely unique in the way that he uses magic and occult knowledge in order to thwart the supernatural threats - not what I was expecting! David Davies did a good job in narrating this short story, and the price is right - check it out!
    A Great Ghost Story.
Carnacki is a forgotten detective. He's just as smart and brave as Sherlock Holmes is. But instead of solving regular mysteries, he solves supernatural mysteries. Using some cool devices to help him in his cases. He doesn't have a sidekick like Dr Watson. But he tells how he solves his cases to the same group of people in every story as a a form of after dinner entrainment. One of them is the stories narrator who supposedly writing these stories down. Great little ghost story, plan to listen to more of Carnacki adventures soon.
    Short, but a treat
I'd been looking for the Carnacki stories for a while on audible, and seeing as this is the only one currently available I feel perhaps I had to work with what I got, but not too bad if you ask me. The story is wonderful, Carnacki is rather like a supernatural Sherlock Holmes, and though the performance was a little lacking in quality that, along with the narration, gave it an air of an old radio horror anthology program. It's not terribly expensive at all, so even if you don't like it you won't waste much money, but I rather enjoyed it. A good start, but I would like to see more of the Carnacki stories available on audible in the future.
    fireside tale...
Not a bad story at all and the narrator did a fair job of building suspense but not really winding it up as tight as it could have dong.
My only beef... a story less then an hour should not be a whole credit. Come on Audible!

    Publisher's Summary:
Ghost Radio is a terrifying novel about a ghost-story call-in radio show that inadvertently opens a doorway into the paranormal, giving voice to the dead and instigating an epic battle for the souls of the living.
From the cramped bowels of a dimly lit radio station, Ghost Radio is beamed onto the airwaves. More than a call-in show to tell scary stories, Ghost Radio is a sanctuary for those sleepless denizens of the night, lost halfway between this world and the next.
Joaquin, the hip, melancholy host, fields calls from believers and detractors alike. He is joined in the booth by his girlfriend, Alondra, and his engineer, Watts. When a huge radio conglomerate offers to syndicate the show, neither Joaquin, Alondra, nor Watts is remotely prepared for what is about to happen.
Joaquin remains a skeptic, even as he begins to feel himself drawn further and further into the terrifying stories he solicits on the radio. Slowly, he finds himself unable to distinguish between the real world and the world populated by the nightmares on Ghost Radio. He is forced to confront his past and his own mortality in order to save that which is most precious to him and repair the crumbling wall between the living and the dead.
    Critic Reviews:
"Ghost Radio reminded me of the early Stephen King - Carrie and Pet Sematary and The Dead Zone. The story sticks with you long after you've finished the final page." (James Patterson)

    Very Intriguing
Very well written with a very unique style in telling the story. There were a few times I found myself lost but the writing would always back itself up and give me the hints I needed to keep up. The ending surprised me, which is unusual since most stories today follow a formula that few deviate from. I recommend this one. The narrator sounded very convincing as the main character and kept me interested along the entire length of the story.
    waste of time & credit!!!
This was a waste of time & a credit! Slow moving, no plot, no ultimate pay off to make listening to hours of drivel worth it. I kept waiting for the story to pick up and to make some sort of sense, but it never happens. Save yourself the tedium and the regret of wasting part of your life on this snoozer.
    Don't buy this!!!
The only scary thing about this book was the time and credit I spent on it.

    Fun spine tingler
Susan Hill has the ghost story down pat. She writes with great economy - no frills, just chills. Hers are the fun, tingle-up-your-spine campfire stories in which you may see what's coming, but enjoy getting there anyway. The premise of The Man in the Picture has been seen before in other formats, but Hill's writing is good enough to make it a worthy read. Paul Andsell's reading is mostly good, although his voicing of the ancient Countess is too old lady falsetto for my taste. I just enjoyed this short little tale for what it is - a nice spooky snack between larger reads.
    Haunting and evocative
I love Susan HIll's writing. She has many gifts, but the one I most enjoy is her ability to create a haunting, suspense-filled atmosphere full of sensory detail. THE MAN IN THE PICTURE is a jewel of a ghost story in the tradition of M.R. James and I loved every minute of it. The narration was superb. You may never again regard a painting of masqued Venetian revelers without awe...

    Quick, enjoyable, old-fashioned ghost story
An enjoyable story within a story within a story; there are four narrators embedded within each other. Don't let that throw you off; this is one of those horror stories that makes you tense and nervous without blood or grime. It is the reader's imagination that provides the horror behind the loss and the mysteriously-powered painting. A concise, quick-read novella, the author of the Woman in Black has created a tight tale, an old-fashioned horror/ghost story that is a real pleasure to read and makes fear and literary anxiety fun.
Classic style horror story with great twist
Would you consider the audio edition of The Man in the Picture to be better than the print version?
Yes, the narration brings the sense of suspense and doom inherent in the story vividly to life.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The final chapters add an ironic twist to the expected outcome. It was sometimes difficult to follow the level of the story as it was being told through several layers.
Have you listened to any of Paul Andsell and Jessica Rushton s other performances before? How does this one compare?
    Both did a great job.
