Fitzgerald you have entered The Twiligh Zone.... and Dragnet.
Officer Fitzgerald has seemingly entered The Twilight Zone or Psi Factor in his determination to stop mob boss Big Jake. Obviously a dated crime novel it nevertheless is a fun read. Gifts are left at the homes of cops appreciated greatly by their wives but not a sign of bribery. Even Detective Fitzgerald receives a fine Meerschaum pipe which he loves along with past gifts of bourbon, fine men's silk socks, which he turns over to an orphanage!? Well, I'm hoping that was for them to turn into much needed cash and not for the orphans to enjoy. Like I said, this is definitely dated. I did love the language of the 40's era tough cop as he pursues cleaning up the town of Big Jake and his "insurance" operation. Along his investigation into Big Jake's attempt at acquiring a dry cleaning business he visits the nonplussed temporary proprietor Brink. Brink bring him the secret of Psi fields. With this bit of science fiction mixed with old time crime pulp we are treated to a short but very entertaining novella. I loved it.
Big Jake and his associates violent acts were prevented by PSI units.
Big Jake Connors was taking over everything, he was even trying to get at the cops by leaving gifts for there wives with the morning milk deliveries. Detective sergeant Fitzgerald could understand how difficult things could be when a cop had deny his wife these little gifts like the mink stole one wife had received. The detective knew as did everyone else that big Jake was behind these gifts although there was no proof. Now Big Jake wanted the towns Dry cleaning plant ,the big commercial place. As Big Jake pushed a little to hard a little to fast , the owner has a nervous breakdown, Big Jake just wasn't prepared for the brother in-law who took over nor his good luck charm. That charms strong Psi field caused probabilities to change to something that just couldn't happen, the most improbable of all conceivable things. Especially when violence was involved! This is a fun well written improbable little story.

    Good story
This was a good action/Science fiction story. It hooked me early and kept going at a good pace. I liked the characters and the author didn't have them doing stupid things that no-one in their right mind wouldn't do. The book had 2 drawbacks. I don't care for the music between each chapter. I find it annoying. And I didn't like what happened to the main character at the end. Other than that, I'd recommend this book.

Every day aboard the interstellar transport ship Australia is a kind of hell where no one is safe, no one can hide. Indeed, the only life Chan's ever known is one of endless violence. For the Australia is a ship of death, filled with murderous gangs and twisted cults vying for supremacy in a closed environment with limited resources and no hope.
And then one day Chan makes an extraordinary discovery: There may be a way to return the Australia to Earth. But doing so will only bring her to the attention of the fanatics and murderers who control life aboard the ship, putting her and everyone she loves in terrible danger.
Is it worth endangering her life and the lives of her few friends and loved ones for an uncertain return to a home world that may be uninhabitable? Especially since to do so she must descend into the deep dark in the bowels of the ship, which is piled high with the bodies and the secrets of the dead.

There are a billion realities out there, each protected by Jump Division, an interdimensional task force dedicated to preserving the stability of the grid.
However, not all agents are created equal. Some are just arseholes.
Marcus Hayes is one such arsehole. He's loud, brash, walks away from explosions in slow motion, and pretty much everyone hates him.
After yet another mission going awry due to him being a dick, he's stationed on a mundane world as punishment.
But as a threat to the world looms, it becomes apparent that this reality isn't even close to being as boring as it's supposed to be....
    Members Reviews:
Marcus Hayes is not your typical hero
Marcus Hayes is definitely a jerk, but I love him anyways. This book had humor, action and suspense. The tech used by the Jump Division is amazing, I wish I lived in their reality instead of a mundane one. The author did a great job narrating the book. I'm looking forward to future adventures of Marcus and team.
    "Read the f... mission specs."
Loud mouthed, arrogant, complaining, self opinionated, gun happy, rude, and completely careless of anyone's opinion, Hayes is not the usual type of hero out to save the world. Yet this is what he is tasked with after he is sent to earth on a punishment mission (yes, he has apparently been an insufferable agent previously and nobody likes him) to Earth with long suffering partner, Callie. Why are they there? Well, it would help if he ever read his orders...
This is a well written, exciting science fiction thriller, often very funny and constantly surprising. Terrific dialogue, too, despite the constant 'f' word in almost every sentence uttered - but who can blame the poor people who have to endure Hayes, the man who never listens? This dialogue is excellently dramatised by the author, also the narrator, with distinctive and fitting voices for each character. His is also a very pleasant, rounded and honeyed reading voice but, initially, a downward intonation at the end of every text sentence other than speech, annoyed this listener, distracting from the story. But stick with it as this affectation dwindles and barely intrudes as the book progresses and action speeds up to near frantic pace.
A really fun, enjoyably unusual book, wholeheartedly recommended . I received my copy of E.N.D.A.Y.S. as a gift from the rights holder, via Audiobook Boom. My thanks for that. Since this is book 1, I assume there will be more to follow and i very much look forward to hearing them and renewing acquaintance with the insufferable Hayes.

For Rem and Lem, thieving is an art form and the city of Perry is an ever expanding canvas for the twins to practice their artistic nature.
The life of a thief is anything but dull in the epidemic-afflicted Perry. That strikes doubly true for the Pestelson twins.
After burgling the wrong house, Rem and Lem are offered a position in the famed Touch organization. The coin is abundant and prompt, the jobs challenging but well-equipped, and the management is more than competent - everything a thief could ask for.
But, when a moral quandary threatens to topple their new enterprise, will the twins choose wealth over the life of an innocent child, especially when that child might hold the cure to the Dark Lung, the epidemic which has been sweeping through the city?
Discover the origins of Rem and Lem in this original novella set in the world of The Nine Cities and The Warrior Poet Archives.

Save the Many or Save the One?
This is a novella in the world of the Warrior Poet Archives. Excellent book. This novella tells the story of two of the main characters of Mist Falcon (Book 1 of the Warrior Poet Archives). So read The Touch Heist first (and get the backstory of these brothers) or read this novella after Mist Falcon to get a richer understanding of Rem and Lem - thieves for hire. You can't go wrong!
The story explores the question, where should generosity end - the brave among us may be able to summon courage at the point of a sword (against a visible enemy), but will compassion wain when facing the invisible hand of a horrible epidemic sweeping the city? Should a child's life be sacrificed to save an empire? Rem and Lem. Brothers. Thieves. Will they save the many at the expense of the one? Plus you get all of fun banter Mist Falcon fans have come to expect when these two brothers enter the scene. Love this author. Can't wait for more!
A good romp that won't pick your pockets
The Touch Heist is a quick read. I finished it in a morning. It sped nicely along and the banter between the twins (the thieves) is a lot of good fun. There's a nice nostalgic feel to this story. It reminds me of Steven Brust or Morgan Rhodes or a couple of others in the style of high fantasy. The plot won't really surprise you, but it will keep you going and smiling. It's escapist fun.
There is a sense that some of the characters have greater depth and backstory than we see in the story itself. I like that especially in a story that promises to go on in a series of linked standalones.
If there's a weakness, some of it is grammatical (homophones or clean-up missed like starred vs. stared that the editor should have caught) and the ending doesn't really resolve the story. We don't really know if the bad guy gets his or what the Twins will immediately face as soon as the book ends. So, it ends, but it teases. Some may like this and some may not.
Overall, it's an enjoyable escape and worth a read.
Great stand alone story even if you haven't read Mist ...
Interesting plot with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing what's going to happen next. Great stand alone story even if you haven't read Mist Falcon; but, if you have read it, The Touch Heist provides a fun background story for a couple of the main characters. Ryan is a good storyteller and I couldn't stop reading this story once I started.

    Members Reviews:
    Nice finish to the series
I really enjoyed this third and final installment of the Cassa series.
In this book, we finally get to put a face to some of the races mentioned in the previous books, and I felt like I had a better idea of what they were all about. Unlike the previous two books, this one didn't have much space action, and I was a little disappointed in that, but it didn't affect how much I liked the book overall.
Again, there was a huge jump in time from one book to the next, and I would have preferred to see what Byron had been up to in those years (I'm nosy like that), but we got the introduction of his son, Bassan, which was great. Byron seems to have been almost an absentee parent up to this point, distant and somewhat formal with his son, and that kind of bummed me out, because I wanted Byron to be a good dad. He wasn't a bad one, but he didn't really seem to have a lot to offer as far as a real relationship with his son. However, that changed for the better as the story progressed, and it was a nice development of yet another aspect of Byron's character. The guy's not a fool, after all.
I liked the way the plot twisted with the realization of an eleventh race, and I'm not going to give spoilers, but I will say I was satisfied with how it all played out. Dealing with racial/interspecies prejudices was done well without hitting the reader over the head.
Well done, and one I'd recommend.
A humanitarian gift to sci-fi and the literary world
I knew Cavanaugh to be a stellar author, but this book accentuates his brilliance. Not only is it layered with rich messages regarding father-son and family relations, Cavanaugh's writing challenges the reader to consider interfaith and interracial relations in a way that merges the magic of sci-fi with the realities our day-to-day existence on earth. Greater issues that we grapple with--e.g., homelessness, war vs. peace, being seen as "different"--emerge while the main characters fight for their own and others' survival. This grand finale to the trilogy takes the reader on an action-packed journey, underscored by prolific matters of the heart. CassaStorm is a humanitarian gift to the sci-fi genre and to the literary world. It far surpassed my expectations!
Though I don't read sci-fi (except this trilogy), I highly recommend it to all, with no reservations.
    Read like a movie
While the galaxy is thrust into a war for the survival of every species, everyone looks to him to save the day, but this time, Byron isnât the hero.

A well told Sci Fi space adventure
I was pleasantly surprised with Pangea Liberation. I purchased the audible book not knowing much about the plot. I have listened to mainly star wars books previously, so I found myself relating this book to them. My imagination came alive with the detailed explanations of a foreign galaxies terrain and animal life. The plot was credible and kept a good pace. It only took me a few days to complete the book because it was interesting!
I liked how the main character went back and forth within himself over what his course should take. It made him seem more real. Overall it was a fun experience and I am glad this made it to audible!

Everything Inc. is a story of perseverance and redemption. Finding purpose in a world where purpose has been removed.
    Members Reviews:
    Well written
This novella is well written, well narrated, and holds your interest throughout. Its only flaw is that it isnt as original as some of Sturtevants other works, such as Occupational Hazards. But well worth the investment of time to listen to.
    Excellent
Would you listen to Everything Inc. again? Why?
    Yes. Interesting story and good
Who was your favorite character and why?
    Dan. He inspires the protagonist.
    Any additional comments?
Sturtevant gives us another intriguing tale with his signature (slightly) dark point of view in Everything Inc.Probably one of the scariest things about this story is how prophetic it could be.
    View of our Future?
What made the experience of listening to Everything Inc. the most enjoyable?
Good story with a great Narrator. Really makes you think about the future.
What other book might you compare Everything Inc. to and why?
    1984
Which character as performed by Paul J. McSorley was your favorite?
Paul does a great job with all characters.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I really enjoyed this book. A real eye opener.
    Any additional comments?
Keep up the great work Paul J McSorley!
    Another fantastic story
Would you listen to Everything Inc. again? Why?
Yes. His stories are very interesting perspectives and tell these snippets of a life you would not have known existed.
What did you like best about this story?
You can believe in the characters. They are developed and crafted where you would almost know someone like them already.
Have you listened to any of Paul J. McSorleys other performances before? How does this one compare?
I love his delivery. Very good choice of narrator.
Character, theme, and ambiance. Good stuff!
    Any additional comments?
Geoff has a great command of the subtleties of language. His stories are character driven and build slowly with ambiance and atmosphere. The only way I can describe it is that he has a kind of Stephen King way of showing you normal life, and then having the veil slowly removed to reveal the creepy in this world. He shows you the themes of Man vs. The Machine (corporations etc) and other wrinkles in our humanity.
Everything Inc. is a man vs the corporation story. The characters are very real and relatable. The chapters move along at a nice pace, and there were several twists/unexpected scenes that were fun.
    Check it out!
