One more good book in this series...
    Highly recommend!
This was much anticipated as I really got into The Lazarus War series by this author. Was thrilled with the new, but not so new, main character who led us through the story at FTL speed. New characters to get to know too, I look forward to seeing where the story will go next.

    Poor story
Emmet is average boy with average intelligence. He's nothing special and the story is not captivating, I thought it might be like Enders Game but Emmet is just a dumb boy and the story is boring.

Loved the story, It left me wanting more!
This was really quite a good story! I liked the main characters and their foes. The story was well written and had a great pace through the scenes between the conflicts as well as the conflicts themselves. Overall, this was a very satisfying and well written story.
Based on what other reviewers are saying I guess I might be in the minority here, but I found the narrator distracting. It seems like he would run out of breath toward the end of a sentence and had to really force the words without a sufficient amount of air to get it done. I kept wondering if he was just not taking a breath between sentences or if he was trying too hard to project a deep radio announcers voice and just couldn't maintain it at times.

    Sci fi epic battles
5th book in a series. I was able to pick it up with ease and enjoy it. Ima sure had I read the rest I would have enjoyed some of the characters more than I did. Well written and well. Arrayed. I highly recommend and will be seeking out the previous installments. Enjoy! I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
    Great sci-fi battle story
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This is, apparently, a fifth book in a series. It stood on it's own quite well, though. There were a few references to previous books, but it wasn't a terrible distraction. The narrator was great, and helped keep things moving. The battle scenes were very well written and suspenseful. All in all, I really enjoyed this book.
    Part of series.

This is a classic Science Fiction adventure with all the familiar characters. The team is large enough yo find someone to identify with yet small enough not to overwhelm. There's a nice twist at the end that leaves you wanting more.

    Maggie Gray Adventures
Milly Story's first book of a Trilogy is full of adventure and excitement, in this world or the other worlds.
As I was reading, I could easily see The Deceived made into a movie. Maggie Gray is one tough heroine that completes any job she is assigned and she doesn't care if it involves her friend or a stranger. I am eagerly awaiting the second book to see where Ms. Story's imagination takes Maggie next!

"It's what we do. We hunt Bugs."
    Members Reviews:
Broad in stories types, but shallow in the details
"Bugs in the System" is a collection of short stories, set in the world of the "We Hunt Bugs" RPG. It contains seven stories, ranging from just under 10 minutes long to a couple of 30 minutes stories. Each story presents a different collection of characters - some are bug hunters, some a passengers of cruises, some a pilots, some are company men. The stories and the characters are different enough from one another so that they don't all blend together.
While each story itself is (generally) fairly interesting they are all very insular - self contained and narrow is scope. Few, if any, of the stories present background information or world building that draws you into the universe. Coming out of this book I know the "we hunt bugs" universe is a space faring humanity that hunt and kill giant bugs. Why? Not sure (other than cos we can). What has happened to Earth? not sure. Is there any lore around the bugs and where they came from? Dunno. There is nothing in here beyond the small scope of the story being told.
Prior to reading this book I had not heard of the RPG, let alone played it. This is my first foray into this world and because of the self contained narrow scope of the stories it doesn't tempt me to dig further into the world.
Maybe it is better if you know the RPG and the background. Maybe some of the bug types and characters matter then.
I assume narrator Rick Gregory read these at different times and then put them together, because some of them the narration is a little clunky (random pauses mid sentence, at what I assume is end of lines of pages) while others he had really hit is stride and they flow well. He sometimes puts more effort into differentiating characters while some stories they sort of blend together. Never is it hard to follow what is going on and who is talking but sometimes it is exactly easy.
Overall not bad. I enjoyed it for the time it took, but I'm unlikely to go out of my way to revisit the book or revisit the "we hunt bugs" universe.
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
    No lasting impressions
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
People who have played the RPG "We hunt bugs" and are familiar with all the characters, backstories and lore surrounding the space bugs, I guess.
This book is a collection of short stories (some as short as 10 mins), all of which involve different and seemingly unrelated characters. Without knowing the backstory of these characters and how they connect to each other, it is quite difficult to enjoy the short stories as a whole. It was like scrolling through YouTube feed of short videos.

    Entertaining.

    Meh
Confusing and somewhat ridiculous. Absolutely no character building was done, combine that with a hard to follow plot I'm just glad it was so short so I didn't have to suffer through more. The only bright point was the narrator. She did an amazing job.

Sci fi colony wars at their best
A tale of the future when the world has unified Into only a few major factions and they have now taken to the stars and they do battle in a standard conventional ground war to prevent nuclear holocausts across the worlds. The various factions are locked into their specialization unless they are volunteering for the war class. This story of a deep sea diver trying to escape being killed by a kraken by going to war. Great battle scenes. Well developed world and the last five minutes of the story are amongst the best. Great story and great narration. Highly recommend. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
    Squid killer on Mars
What was most disappointing about Isaac Stones story?
The story was just bad on so many levels. I'm sorry Isaac, but everything from the premise (Earth using Mars as a coliseum complete with flaming swords) to character development (was none) to plot (rather fight giant squid then war on Mars) left me shaking my head.
Which character as performed by Persephone Rose was your favorite?
Persephone Rose Was a great reader/narrator he changed voice, pitch, inflection and what not to help distinguish the different characters. His clear voice and pronunciation made the difference between finishing this story and quitting after 10 minutes.
You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
    It was short.
    Any additional comments?
I received a free copy of this audiobook from the narrator and chose to review it.
