    Narrator: Gene Grossman
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 2 hrs and 4 mins

Ratings: 3 of 5 out of 1 votes
Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Legal Thrillers
    Publisher's Summary:
There are many types of mysteries, but one stands out over all the others: the ones involving a locked room.
Over the years, every mystery writer worth his salt has tried to come up with the one that tops all the rest: the secret compartments, the doors locked from the inside, the confused timeline, etc. Jacques Futrelle set the standard with his Problem in Cell 13 but there hasn't been a really fine stumper since then. Until now.
Gene Grossman seems to have created a locked room mystery to end all locked room mysteries: not only is the room locked - it is a steel security room from which entry or escape is physically impossible. The crime is actually seen by several witnesses, but the murderer has disappeared into thin air. If this mystery is to be solved, nobody has a better chance of doing it than a 12-year-old computer whiz: an adorable little Chinese girl who is the legal ward of attorney Peter Sharp.

    Title: Escaping Psychiatry. Beginnings
    Author: Olga Núñez Miret
    Narrator: Marlin May
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 2 hrs and 8 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 07-07-16
    Publisher: Olga Nunez Miret
Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Legal Thrillers
    Publisher's Summary:
Dr. Mary Miller is a young psychiatrist suffering a crisis of vocation. Her friend Phil, a criminalist lawyer working in New York, invites her to visit him and consult on the case of a writer accused of a serious assault. His victim had been harassing him and accusing him of stealing his story, which he'd transformed into a best-selling book. The author denies the allegation and claims it was self-defense. When the victim dies, things get complicated. The threshold between truth and fiction becomes blurred and secrets and lies unfold.
Escaping Psychiatry: Beginnings is the prequel to Escaping Psychiatry, a volume collecting three stories where Mary and her psychiatric expertise are called to help in a variety of cases, from religious and race affairs, to the murder of a policeman, and in the last case she gets closer than ever to a serial killer.

I donât know about you but I love a good mystery
I donât know about you but I love a good mystery. If you do too, get comfy in your easy chair and pour a cup of tea! Escaping Psychiatry â the Beginning is a prequel to a trilogy called Escaping Psychiatry, which includes three books: Cannon Fodder â book 1, Team Work â book 2, and Memory â book 3.
This prequel introduces you to the cast of characters in Escaping Psychiatry. Dr. Mary Miller, the psychiatrist seems to be at a crossroads in her career. When her friend Phil, a criminal lawyer from New York invites her to consult on an interesting new case, Mary jumps at the chance.
The accused is a writer who has made a fortune writing a best-selling novel. He is suspected of assaulting a man who claims the writer stole his story. The author further claims the man was stalking him. He asserts that he was provoked by the stalking and that the attack was done purely in self-defense. Things get really interesting when the man suddenly dies.
Author, Olga Núñez Miret, gives you just enough of the facts to whet your appetite into wanting more of this exciting mystery. I thought it was brilliant to offer the prequel as a FREE purchase. I am intrigued by Maryâs character and look forward to reading the rest of the series!
    My Rating:
    Character Believability: 5
    Flow and Pace: 5
    Reader Engagement: 5
    Reader Enrichment: 4
    Reader Enjoyment: 5
Overall Rate: 4.5 out of 5 stars
    An Intriguing Psychiatric Caper!
Escaping Psychiatry is the second book I have read by this creative author. I have enjoyed the protagonist, Mary, in both books. The author had created a believable and likable character and has infused her knowledge and experience as a forensic psychiatrist to create an enjoyable read.
I look forward to more intriguing mysteries from this talented author.
    Deals with psychiatry
This was an okay short story
    Easily forgotten.
This short story wasn't great. The description grabbed my attention, but the story itself needs an editor. There were more details then necessary, and the characters were not relatable at all. Disappointing.
    Recommended Psychological Mystery
Having read, and enjoyed, the author's trilogy of stories featuring psychiatrist Mary Miller, I was very happy to see this prequel novella pop up on Amazon - and even more enthused to see it as free! (Who says there is no such thing as a free lunch?)
Anyway, Olga Nunez Miret is bang on form with this tale of the death of a 'stalker', where all is not as it seems.

    Mid-Coast Mystery!
I purchased this book out of curiosity, since the author grew up in Boothbay Harbor. It took me a couple of chapters, but then I was hooked! This was a great beach read. I can't wait for his next book!
    Courtroom Drama in Maine
As a lifelong Mainer, novels set in this state have always caught my eye. This multilayered mystery follows three generations of a family beset by tragedy. Set on Monhegan Island, in Aroostook County, and in Vietnam for a time, Dylan Boyd does a masterful job of drawing the reader into his characters and the setting. I honestly had no idea how this novel would end, or even how the different narratives wove together, until the final pages. Boyd's experiences as a lawyer lend real credibility to the courtroom sequences, although the legal detail does run a bit thick in spots. I highly recommend Blue Lobster to readers who enjoy courtroom drama or realistic Maine-based novels.
    A serious page turner!
I honestly could not put this book down. I started getting up early in the morning to go to the gym earlier to read while I jogged slowly on the treadmill... Because it was that good.
Usually when I read a book that switches between stories or time periods, I am always more interested in one than the other. I always feel that one section is something to "get through" to make it to the better, more exciting storyline. Not the case with this book. Both were equally engaging and, well, awesome.
Beautifully written and researched. Write another one, Dylan!
    Complicated, impressive first effort...
I was really impressed with the complexity and great research of this first novel. As my wife and I read it (in manuscript form--Dylan is my nephew), we were really trying to find something inaccurate about the time periods, factual references and so on, but were unable to find fault. I look forward to Dylan's next effort!
    Great story
I found myself thinking about the characters during the time I wasn't reading about them, wondering what would happen next. The way everything comes together was so well done, and no question was left unanswered. Good twists, good complex story that keeps you guessing, good characters. Looking forward to the next book.

    Title: Ten Days
    Author: Gillian Slovo
    Narrator: Joe Jameson
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 12 hrs and 7 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 03-03-16
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 2 votes
Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Legal Thrillers
    Publisher's Summary:
This new novel by Gillian Slovo was inspired by her extensive research for a 2011 play loosely based on the London riots.
It's 4:00 a.m., and dawn is about to break over the Lovelace estate. Cathy Mason drags herself out of bed as she swelters in her overheated bedroom - the council still haven't turned the radiators off despite temperatures reaching the 30s.
In a kitchen across London, Home Secretary Peter Whiteley enjoys the tea that his security detail left for him before he joins his driver and heads to Parliament whilst his new police chief, Joshua Yares, clears his head for his first day with a run. All three will have reasons to recollect this morning as their lives collide over ten days they will never forget.
Ten Days takes an unflinching look at how lives are ruined and careers are made when small misjudgements have profound effects on frustrated communities and damaged individuals.
    Critic Reviews:
"An extraordinary novel - a page-turner thick with greed, ambition, love and secrets, and simultaneously an incisive portrayal of power and powerlessness in today's Britain." (Kamila Shamsie)
"Ten Days of tension, trouble and tough truths - Gillian Slovo tells it like it almost certainly is - she's written a cracker." (Val McDemid)"
    Members Reviews:
    Thrilling political intrigue
Terrific read based on an imagined (but probably well researched) behind the scenes analysis of British politics and its sleazy underbelly alongside riots in London around 2011. Compelling reading built around players in this tragedy - politicians who will do anything to keep a step ahead, police leaders trying to cope with bureaucracy, politics, resource cuts, and community members feeling targeted, misunderstood and undermined. A great Audible listen... Atmospheric and impressive - has inspired me to read more from Gillian Slovo.
    Predictable and dreary
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The story was predicable and dreary with two dimensional characters who I cared little for. This is my first review, I don't normally post anything but I thought my effort might save somebody else from buying this book.
Would you ever listen to anything by Gillian Slovo again?
    Unlikely on this performance.
How could the performance have been better?
    By not buying the book.
What character would you cut from Ten Days?
    All of them.
    Any additional comments?
    Avoid and save your money.
    Excellent
Read this book. Obviously, meticulously researched, well written, and excellent narration. Palpable loathing of one of the politicians involved.
    Awful stereotypes - silly story
If this book wasnt for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?
    No Londoner, that's for sure
Would you ever listen to anything by Gillian Slovo again?
I can't believe all her books are this bad - but I doubt I would try her again.
Did Joe Jameson do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?
The narration was ok but the female characters were either posh or nasal sarth London.
You didnt love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
    No
    Any additional comments?
The book was a very slow starting story about nothing much. It might have been better as the play it originally was. As a Londoner I thought the description of the different characters was stereotypical and insulting, surprising given the author's background. Plot lines were obvious from a mile off.

    Members Reviews:
    A great new series
This is a new author and narrator for me. Minus One is a prequel to the series that tells how Drew Smith started his law career. After graduating from law school, taking the bar examination and looking for a job in his new profession, Drew was working as a hotel concierge. Drew becomes friends with two bellmen, one an Egyptian and the other a Latino, Drew is black. Medhat ends up being a temporary roommate of Drews. Just as Drew is sworn into the bar, Medhat is arrested for murder. Drew has his first client. The story takes place in Washington D.C. and Drew is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Law.
The author is an attorney and started publishing stories as an independent author. The author is a good storyteller and he does an excellent job with description and character development. The suspense builds up throughout the book. The ending provided a surprise after a few unexpected twists in the plot. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author. Zack Imbragno does a good job narrating the story.
Nah - boring don't waste your money.
Boring, boring, boring - 23 chapters to describe the characters and then a feeble attempt at making a story out of them - don't waste your money. The reader was abismal and could not even pronounce words such as 'naive', at times impossible to understand unless you were from the Deep South of America. The story bar should only have one star, I could not make the bar work, sorry.
