    Publisher's Summary:
If you could go back in time...and witness any event...where would you go?
When Dr. Tom Greenbaum faces that question after successfully discovering the secret to time travel, he knows the time, place, and event he will witness: the death and failed resurrection of Jesus Christ. Dr. David Goodman, Tom's colleague and closest friend follows Tom into the past, attempting to avert a time-space catastrophe, but forces beyond their control toss them into a dangerous end game where they are tempted by evil characters, betrayed by friends, pursued by an assassin from the future, and haunted by a demon that cannot be killed.
About the author: Jeremy Robinson is the author of 11 novels including Pulse, Instinct, and Threshold, the first three books in his exciting Jack Sigler thriller series. His novels have been translated into nine languages. He is the director of New Hampshire AuthorFest, a non-profit organization promoting literacy in New Hampshire, where he lives with his wife and three children.
    Critic Reviews:
"What surprised me, with [Robinson's] take on the possibility of two 21st century men meeting Jesus, was the utter lack of predictability.... He offers a new perspective on ripping apart the time-space continuum I am shocked no one has ever considered before now." (Round Table Reviews)
"[A] thrilling and fast-paced 'what if?' scenario." (MidWest Book Review)
"[A] rollicking adventure.... The story opens explosively and is laced with suspense and humor. Robinson writes quite well and is an up-and-coming author to watch...we'll hear, read, and see a great deal more from him in the future." (Christian Book Previews)

Not what I expected at all.
Reading the description for the book I thought this would be another book preaching the Christian religion and trying to get everyone on the path to God but I was pleasantly surprised. I try to stay away from Spoliers in my reviews so I'll just say that our protaganists and their interaction with people in the past was a lot of fun. I found myself laughing at many points in the book. I am not a strictly devout Roman Catholic but I was raised in the faith so although my recollection of every story in the bible isn't near perfect I was able to remember enough to really enjoy the different events Tom and David encountered. My foreknowledge so to speak, did not ruin parts for me but instead enhanced the story I think.
On to the elephant in the room. Will a strict atheist enjoy the book? I have to say they might not. A very lage part of the core of this book takes for granted that Christianity is correct. I can't say more without offering up Spoilers so that is all I can say about that. I think that in order to really enjoy this book you must at least believe that a higher power just might exist. If you can not at least concede that point then sure, you might enjoy the book simply for its fictional storytelling value, but I think that you might not enjoy this book.
    Loved It!!
I think every one has thought about what it would be like to ge back in time. This reminds me of my own hidden desires to go back. Jeremy chooses an event and then creates what you would have experianced it, if you were really present. Jesus as a normal guy, with little pranks and indepth descussions.

Love the entire series!! Paperback & Audio!!!!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I love these books. I own (still own), have read & enjoyed the entire series of paperbacks several years ago. Hadn't read them in a long time so I purchased all the audio editions that were available (there are one or two missing).
I found I loved the audio editions even more because Ruth Ann Phimister brings life to these southern ladies in a way that makes me want to listen to her over and over again. I don't know how she does all those voices but she does a wonderful job at it. They are entertainment not documentaries so yes, they are light but so what! I still love them. Almost makes me want to move to Alabama even though I love my Pacific Northwest so very much.
When I listen to these books I feel like I'm there, miles away from my physical body.
I highly recommend them if you want to sink into a book and feel like you're there in a nice cozy place with great people. I couldn't possibly say enough great things about the books and the narrator. I was very please.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked all the great things in between the action i.e. murder(s). The home life, family interactions (the sometimes impossible sister relationship) and even the pets provide humor, realism and believability to the characters. This goes for all the books in the series. I do like some better than others but there isn't one that I don't like.
What does Ruth Ann Phimister bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Having read the books and now years later listening to Ruth Ann Phimister I'd have to say she brought the characters more to life for me. I especially love her voice for Patricia Anne, soft, gentle, very southern but also formidable when she needs to be. I'd be curious to know if she's really southern because of her great accents in these books or if she just does a great southern accent.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
    A 'feel good' murder mystery.
    Any additional comments?
I read some very bad reviews about these books and I don't know what the people were expecting. Maybe because I read them before listening to them (albeit years apart) I already knew what I was getting into. I think the books are exactly what they are billed as and if it's not someone's particular 'cup of tea' I don't think that's a reflection on the book but on the taste of the person writing the review.
I enjoyed every minute of listening to these books.
    Another winner
Great story, great characters, great narrator. Another great entry in a fantastic series.

    I love elinborg!
hope indridason has written or will write another one from her perspective. not sure I'd want to see the world through sigurdur oli's eyes (so judgmental), but I'm willing to go there if indridason is. he's fantastic.
    Good suspense
Would you listen to Outrage again? Why?
Yes, as it was a good, engrossing story.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Outrage?
When the detective finally put all the pieces together
Did George Guidall do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Yes with his voice, but his accent along with the difficult pronunciation of the names made it difficult to understand at times.

They're out there, under the salt - the bodies of German seamen who used to lie in wait at the mouth of the Mississippi for unescorted American tankers sailing from the oil refineries of Baton Rouge out into the Gulf of Mexico. As a child, Dave Robicheaux had been haunted by the sailors' images. Years later, Robicheaux, a detective with the New Iberia sheriff's office, finds himself and his family at serious risk, stalked for his knowledge of a watery burial ground by a mysterious man named Will Buchalter - a man who believes that the Holocaust was one big hoax.

    Eloquent Lyrical Sloooooooooow
Maybe I overdosed on James Lee Burke. This is my sixth Dave Roubicheaux novel and the last three I listened to back to back to back. Mark Hammer's tongue is wrapped around bayous, filagreed iron window screens and Spanish moss. He speaks through a veil of humidity and swampy muscle. He somehow makes the rich vocabulary and elegant metaphoric Roubicheaux musings seem plausible from the mind of this hard-scrabble back gator country lawman.
This time it took just a tad too much to do it. Burke is a poet first, a sociologist second, a dramatist third, a gently liberal social commentator, and ... oh yeah... a detective mystery procedural writer. Here it is the last that seems to be stretched a lot too thin. The characters were either too complex for the plot, or too comic-book skinny to hold up its pants.
I'm going to take a break from Dave, Bootsey, Alafair, and Cleetus. If you've not listened to a Roubicheaux novel... start from the beginning. You'll think, feel, and even tear up. But maybe you'd do well after the first five to pause before beginning this one. Just like I'll take a break before downloading the seventh....
    Jury out on this one
I love the way James Lee Burke writes, and I love the characters in his stories, Cletus Purcell has to be one of the great literary personalities of all time. The setting it enthralling as ever, but the foe in this story is just a little to much of a ghost and Dave R. is just walking into too many traps set for him in this one without seeing the writing on the wall. All of that said, I still liked the book, enjoyed Cletus having a prominent role and enjoyed the various characters and how they were developed. I really love the narration in this series and really do not understand the controversy, it is first rate as far as I am concerned. All things considered I am looking forward to the next in the series as even a flat spot in this collection is better than the best works by most authors.
    Recommended.
    Audio, audio...it's the voice
Where is Will Patton when there is a Dave Roubiceaux book, I listened all the way to the end, but for me it was not an enjoyable experience. I though the story was a little disjointed, and with a different voice than how I perceive the main character should sound...No, in the future it will be Burke and Patton or no purchase
The dangers of doing the right thing
What did you love best about Dixie City Jam?
James Lee Burke's writing is like poetry. Amidst the ugliness of hate and crime, he describes the surroundings so beautifully. Dave's thoughts about his past, his culture, his family, and his struggles are blended so seamlessly. I, also, really enjoy the relationship between Dave and Clete.

When former Klansman and piney-woods outcast Aaron Crown is finally imprisoned for a decades-old murder, it is to Detective Dave Robicheaux that he proclaims his innocence loudest. Crown seems to be a lightning rod for every kind of trouble that the state of Louisiana can unearth. A documentary film writer seeking to prove Crown's innocence is found murdered; a button man for the New Orleans mob accuses Robicheaux of taking a pay-off to ignore Crown.
But it is when Buford LaRose - scion of an old Southern family and author of a book on the Crown case - is elected governor that Dave Robicheaux's involvement with Aaron Crown deepens to a level he can barely fathom. And it is Buford's social-climbing wife, Karyn, with whom Robicheaux had an affair years before, who proves to be his most poisonous adversary.
Filled with thrilling adventure, lightning-paced action, and street smart realism, Cadillac Jukebox is a brilliant addition to Burke's standout Dave Robicheaux series.

    Good, But Not Burke's Best
In "Wolfgang" the Emperor criticizes a Mozart performance, "Too many notes!"
In this book Dave Robicheaux's challenged with too much plot, or too many characters. Most readers don't study, they read. Well, maybe study's a subset of reading, but so's entertainment. Burke demands more of the reader than usual this time and those demands aren't of the intellectual or emotional sort, just memory. Since I listen to books in disjointed segments, well, this time it was hard to access all the character details and their relationships that Burke requests.
I like to work out puzzles, ideas, and emotions. But Im bored, bordering on irritated, when an author's complexity is created by the cast Dunno, like a song with too many notes? As a Mark Hammer fanboy, and a committed Burke fan, well this was still worth the effort, but it was the wrong sort of effort.
    A tougher listen...
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I love this series but I'm struggling to get through this one. Just not happy with the narration. Think if Patton had narrated this one it'd be a great as the rest.
How could the performance have been better?
I'm not feeling the characters on this one...
    Pronunciation
Burke works so hard to paint the picture ... this is much of the delight, so narrator should know Lafayette = LAF-ee-ette (not lah-FI-ette)
    Good writing...
I like the use of the language in Burke's books. His style does not grab you, but subtly takes you deeper into his world... As if you are with the protagonist staring over his shoulder or even through his eyes. Do not expect a good guys and bad guys cliche... Last, performance of Mark Hanmer is excellent.
Hi jingo, to borrow a phrase...
Good story as usual, this one involving a newly elected governor of Louisiana no less. Dave is his usual stand up self and as usual it almost gets him whacked. But it's Dave and Cleet and Bootsy so ya gotta love it

Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Modern Detective
    Publisher's Summary:
Doctor Who screenwriter Ben Aaronovitch's superbly entertaining supernatural crime series has, with its witty one-liners and wonderfully erudite take on London, won a legion of fans in double-quick time.
Peter Grant is learning magic fast. And its just as well - he's already had run ins with the deadly supernatural children of the Thames and a terrifying killer in Soho. Progression in the police force is less easy, especially when you work in a department of two. A department that doesn't even officially exist. A department that if you did describe it to most people would get you laughed at.
And then there's his love life. The last person he fell for ended up seriously dead. It wasn't his fault, but still. Now something horrible is happening in the labyrinth of tunnels that make up the tube system that honeycombs the ancient foundations of London. And delays on the Northern line is the very least of it.
Time to call in the Met's Economic and Specialist Crime Unit 9, aka 'The Folly'. Time to call in PC Peter Grant, Britains Last Wizard.
This edition is read by Kobna Holdbrook-Smith. Kobna is a film, theatre, television, and radio actor. His television credits include Little Britain, Saxondale, Pulling, Taking the Flak, Star Stories, and Sirens; his theatre credits include lead roles at the National, Tricycle, Young Vic, Manchester Royal Exchange, Bush, and Shakespeare's Globe theatres, and he has also been in numerous BBC radio plays. He has voiced audiobooks by Alastair Reynolds and Ben Aaronovitch for Orion.

    Ripping good fun
Would you listen to Whispers Under Ground again? Why?
Yes, again and again and again. The book is so much fun and the narration by Kobna Holdbrook-Smith is exceptional.
What other book might you compare Whispers Under Ground to and why?
If you're a fan of the Iron Druid books you certainly wont go wrong here. A step above Dresden.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Absolutely, I had to force myself to stop so I could get some sleep or stop driving around. Highly addictive listening.
    Any additional comments?
Urban fantasy and mystery rolled in to one brilliant package and presented with the utmost finesse.
It felt heavy and too elaborated
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I missed the spunk and funk from the first two books.
What was most disappointing about Ben Aaronovitchs story?
In parts it was too elaborated. The description of the rummaging through the sewers was too long and did not really develop in anything to help the unfolding of the story.
The introducing chapter was interesting and one thought it would be put to use in some way over the span of the story but it came back at the very end with a little twist but had nothing to do with the main storyline.
What three words best describe Kobna Holdbrook-Smiths voice?
Mr Holdbrook-Smith's performance was again very good and enjoyable.

All in all a fun book
Emily Grays narration as always is great she gives each and every character its own unique voice and quality. I am so glad the rest are available with this narrator on audible. Between this series and Gail Carrigers Parasol Protectorate Series Emily has become one of my favorite narrators.
This one was a bit different in that it seemed to end many different times but then didnt. Loved the ultraword storyline, a book can only be read 3 times; it cracked me up as such a jab at the e-book publishing world. But considering this was written in 2003 it made me wonder does Fforde have ESP?
It is also a hard book to review because there are a lot of plots going on at the same time. But I guess we are in the well of lost plots so Fforde had to mash as many in as he could, but it was almost too much. As I said the book felt like it ended a couple times when actually it kept going so this threw off the rhythm of my enjoyment. I still loved all the literary references and the writing still makes me laugh but I didnt enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the previous books. I did enjoy the addition of the generic characters they are the people in books you just see once, the person passing on the street the shopkeeper and such, kind of like extras in TV shows that can be changed into whatever character is needed for the next book that comes along. And I think Lola & Ronald and Grandma Next were my favorite characters in this one.
What I do love about this series is all the literary references and this had them shooting left and right and I still feel that you need to have at least some knowledge of the classic (even if its from PBS Masterpiece Theater) which is how I knew Miss Havisham as I just watched Great Expectations last week. Because Ive honestly only read a few Dickens novels but have been meaning to read more (really I have).
All in all this is a fun book and I will continue on with this series.
    3 1/2 Stars
    Enjoyably delightful
Very creative. A pleasant funny read suitable for the whole family. Sadly, I must now read the entire series.
I want to be a jurisfiction agent
Jasper Fforde does not disappoint with this novel. It is fun and fully immerses us in the book world. Emily Gray does a great job with the narration. She has a diverse set of voices and believe me with the number of characters in this book this was no easy task.

At last, but hoping for a better Meyer
If you could sum up Darker Than Amber in three words, what would they be?
    Meyer too gentile
What was one of the most memorable moments of Darker Than Amber?
    Lots of Meyer love.
Have you listened to any of Robert Petkoffs other performances before? How does this one compare?
I liked Petkoff's voice and reading style for McGee, somewhat understated which was nice. He didn't try and tough guy it up thank god.
However, I was a bit disappointed with Petkoff's take on Meyer. I love Meyer and I've had his voice in my head for a long time. MacDonald clearly wrote Meyer as a mensch. He's a retiree in Ft. Lauderdale for pete's sake. Petkoff doesn't capture that, way too gentile.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
If you haven't read or listened to McGee, you're in for a treat. I've been waiting a long time for a good commercial production of the McGee novels.
    Any additional comments?
I'm a hardcore McGee fan. My monitor background is a 1964 view of Bahia Mar where I can point out, to anyone who cares (i.e. no one) where slip F-18 is.
A man from the first half of the 20th century
These are classic mystery stories written at a time when $10,000.00 was equal to $100,000.00 in today dollars. Also men and women had different rolls. If you take that into the balance of the story, you can enjoy the mystery, and how Trav solves each problem he encounters. I have started with book one, and have now completed book 7. They all get better I have found. Just have to get used to some of the dated language and interplay between characters. It's not 2012, but late 1960's. I still find the stories really well written and have enough mystery and strange turns of events to make each Travis McGee story a gem.
Not a Dud in the bunch
I love this series. I listen to longer books as a rule, but these make great breaks between the longer stretches. I can count on them for pure entertainment with just a touch of philosophy thrown in for grazing contact with reality. Great narration helps too.
Anti Prostitute Diatribe; Pretty Good Mystery
Travis and Meyer are fishing underneath a bridge when a woman is tossed off said bridge. Travis dives into the deep blue sea and saves her life. Unfortunately the woman is a whore; so not only is it a wasted effort the woman isn't actually a human being. Okay so that is a bit harsh in conveying MacDonald's attitude towards prostitutes, or any woman who gets around anywhere near as much as his protagonist Travis McGee; or is it?
As in previous books by this author, any woman who gets around too much is killed off by a champion of the sexual double standard.

What would you do for those precious to you?
    Critic Reviews:
"Brett Battles has established himself as one of today's best thriller writers, right up there with Lee Child, Barry Eisler, and Thomas Perry." (Deadly Pleasures)
"The best word I can use to describe his writing is addictive." -(James Rollins, New York Times best-selling author)

    Excellent book!
This is the second novel in the Logan Harper series. The first (Little Girl Gone) was quite good but not as good as any on Battles' Jonathan Quinn series or the Project Eden series. Every Precious Thing delivers the suspense that readers have come to expect of Brett Battles.
Jeff Woodman narrated both novels and does a good job. However, his voice does not seem exactly right for the books.
    not J. Quinn Quality
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I'm not an aurthor cannot say just know things need to be changed
If youve listened to books by Brett Battles before, how does this one compare?
Loved the Quinn series which is why I downloaded both these books. Harper needs a better non juvenile senior citizen supporting cast. Being a senio,r the questions and comments they make are annoying . BRING BACK QUINN
What aspect of Jeff Woodmans performance would you have changed?
Excellent Perfermance for the script he had to work wiith
Do you think Every Precious Thing needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No this us a follow up book series should stop here
    Any additional comments?
Supporting Characters to much "Keystone Cops" like

i love the auther and the performance was great. left me hoping andrew ryan survived
Complex plot, but worth the read.
I love the intricacies of Kathy Reichs stories, and this one was certainly intricate, with names I couldn't keep straight and a Geordian Knot of events and place names that kept me confused. I speak French so that was not the problem; keeping the improperly pronounced medical terms and French words straight was.
Despite my occasional irritation as described, I REALLY enjoyed this book!
    Swearing distracting
The story line is good. There were some unexpected turns. I cringe at the profanity and would rather it be not there.
