    A Fun Read!
This is a very exciting story line. I'm glad our heroes have finally gotten together. I was bummed that the villaness escaped. Will this series ever end? It could get tiresome.
This is a good read. The series is quite imaginative and lead you in too many strange places.
This is a good read. The series is quite imaginative and lead you in too many strange places.
An author who gets better with each book!
Hopefully the naysayers who feel this author is pretending to be Preston and Child have learned that that is not so. He has earned the good reviews his books are getting and is not pretending to be someone else to get a sale. So, this is his best book yet. The plot is tight, the characters well defined, the action exhilarating and the end not an end, but a prelude to book seven. This author has earned his right to be read, so do so. But, start with book one!!!
Another great book from Mr Child!!!
If you like Preston W. Child's style then you will love this book as well. He always manages to keep you involved in his books, you are always wondering what is going to happen next. I love all his books. I'm never disappointed. If you are suspense book lover then you must buy this book, I promise you won't be disappointed.
    Another great installment!
Just what you were expecting from the latest installment in this Preston W. Child technothriller adventure story! It is engaging, well-written, and thrilling! You can't put it down. From beginning to end, it has the reader enthralled in the adventures that the main characters are getting caught up in. The author keeps you hooked the whole way through. I read it so quickly because I was dying to know what would happen next. I highly recommend this!

    Members Reviews:
    Decent Story, I Think.
What did you like best about Cold Blood? What did you like least?
The story seemed to be a good international thriller, but the narration is so poor, and so inflectionless that it is tough to figure out who is who.
How could the performance have been better?
The narrator used the same tone for every character, it sounded like a 4th grader reading a book report. I could never pick up when on character stopped talking and another began. Also the recording quality was very poor. You could hear birds in the background at some parts, and other parts swear words were bleeped out.
Could you see Cold Blood being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Actually, yes. But don't hire the narrator to be in it.

    Something missing .....
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Overall, it was a good book and performance...but what was missing to make it great? A deeper character development? A better description of the evolution of the main character? It says "The First Harry Waters Series Book 1"--so maybe my sense of DANGLING is expected to be resolved in Book 2? But of course, I would have to read book 2---and at this point, I am not sure I will....so....
Would you be willing to try another book from James Philip? Why or why not?
    No
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
    Narrator was fine.
Was Islands of No Return worth the listening time?
Book was okay but it felt incomplete. If a writer is going to leave a book dangling just so audience will purchase the next in a series, I am not a customer.
    Terrible narration
What would have made Islands of No Return better?
    A different narrator
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
    Poor
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narration was truly appalling. He mis-pronounced many words and had an obvious lack of understanding of the subject.
It was as bad a an amateur effort from Libravox. In fact, scrub that - it was worse.
You didnt love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
    None
    Any additional comments?
Avoid this audiobook - read the novel if you wish (the story is no where near up to Philip's usual standard though)

This book won't disappoint - even if you are new to the series.
Such a talented writer - I am so enjoying this series. Even if you have not read all the books in the series about Mercer and his department, this book won't disappoint. If you have read some of the others, you will continue to enjoy this "family" of agents.
I thought I would just read the 1st chapter to fall asleep. Cynthia would have none of that. Fell asleep when I finished the book.
    Well done.
    Hot
All kinds of hot. Got to love an American hero, and heroine. Eden has done it again. I can't wait for the next EOD story.
    Really good
Liked this story. A little different slant on the hot sexy macho hero. Also appreciated the fact that Jana didn't once do the dumb blonde walk down into the dark basement when a killer lurked. Also Mr hero didn't stop bullets with his teeth.
A MYSTERY MAN WHO IS STALKING AN AGENT PLUS THE DESIRE AND LOVE OF THAT AGENT BY A FELLOW AGENT
I HAVE READ MOST OF THE GUTS AND GLORY BOOKS WHICH I HAVE THOROUHGLY ENJOYED. YOU WILL FIND THAT THE CHARACTERS WILL APPEAR IN THE NEXT BOOK SO THAT YOU WILL GET TO KNOW THEM, HOW THEY THINK AND THE FEELINGS THAT EXISTS BEWEEN THEM. ONCE YOU START THE BOOK YOU WILL NOT WANT TO STOP UNTIL THE END, IT'S WHAT I CALL A LIGHT AND FAST READ., YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.
    Almost done with series
This so far has been the best series I have read. I really donât want it to end. One more to go

    Publisher's Summary:
Exhausted by years of combat, and haunted by the ghosts of his past, nothing is going to stop special forces veteran Byron Tibor returning home to the woman he loves. But is Byron who he appears to be, and why is the American government determined to stop him?
From the blood-soaked mountains of the Hindu Kush to the glittering lights of Manhattan, via the dark underbelly of the Las Vegas Strip, Post is the story of one man's struggle to retain his humanity - before it's too late.
    Members Reviews:
I did not like the way that ended!
This was only my third novel by author Sean Black and the first in the Bryon Tibor series. The ending assures I will listen to the next one soon. Post is an exciting espionage thriller with a touch of contemporary sci-fi. Suspense is intense and action is almost continuous. The publisher's summary sets up the novel perfectly, so I will not add to it. Narration is superb.
    Interesting series from Sean Black
I enjoyed this book very much. I hadn't realized when I bought it that the protagonist (Byron Tibor) was kind of like a dark Captain America with PTSD that gives him nightmares, headaches and flashbacks. His body has been altered with super hearing implants, super corneal implants (he can see in the dark) an explosive resistant endoskeleton and more. When the government's doctor implanted an RFD tracking device in his neck without his permission he'd had it and decided to go AWOL. So now one of the most efficient operatives the US had is attempting to live off the grid. That can only last so long when an entire special forces unit is after him. Most of the time he is coherent but the vision of a small young girl who Byron saw murdered is his constant companion.
The author, Sean Black is also the author of the Ryan Locke series. This book has the same level of action however the two characters are very different.
Grant Pennington narrates this book. He does a very good job.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Light, fun and fast.
    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Welcome to the future of America. Land of chaos and home of the ambitious....
A botched assassination on the eve of Election Day throws the routine transfer of presidential authority on its head and the American government into chaos.
With Congress and the Supreme Court locked in a constitutional standoff, rabble-rousing state governors fueling the fire, and shadowy opportunists pulling strings, the nation teeters on the verge of a second civil war.
While the politicos play their chess games, the pawns refuse to sit idly by. Sometimes the tail doesn't just wag the dog but can strangle it.

    American Anarchy
What made the experience of listening to Operation Enduring Unity, Omnibus Edition the most enjoyable?
I liked how three woman characters evolved gaining respect and power. I liked the lessons regarding responsibility. I liked how one especially evil person met his/her end. I liked the message of forgiveness and healing.
What other book might you compare Operation Enduring Unity, Omnibus Edition to and why?
I don't have a book in mind but I do have a movie in mind. The movie is called Idiocracy.
In the movie an average IQ solider is sent to the future and he ends up being the smartest person in the world because the more intelligent people practiced birth control and the idiots overpopulated and took over the world.
In this book all the idiots are also in charge running things.
What about Kevin Clays performance did you like?
He did an over all good job.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
This was a long multi-volume book that required several sittings.
    Any additional comments?
This is a satirical novel that I think some commentators took too seriously. It is also a fable as well as a modern day retelling of the civil war.
Starting with a blotched assassination and through a comedy of errors of political and military bumblings, sensational one sided news coverage (done for ratings and not accuracy) and the influence of big business and special interests; the U.S. is plunged into a civil war. The lame duck president's term is extended by congress and he is made out to be a dictator.
Things escalate with power hungry inept grandiose politicians and military leaders. Big business wanting to make war time profits fuel the fires and the news agencies wanting high ratings worsen the chaos with untrue sensationalized news reports.
When the president finally starts acting like the dictator he is accused of being stability finally occurs. One mislead idealistic female militia member finally gets enlightened and becomes a true heroine. Another female soldier who has more smarts leadership abilities and common sense than any of the military leaders comes to the attention of the president and is put in charge of a special department with power, which also helps to bring an end to the conflict. One intelligent talented female reporter finally gains the standing she needs to report the news in a way that is more objective.

    Relevant & Gripping
Sugar is fiction that expresses truths that are relevant to the current world political climate. L. Todd Wood is an exceptional and transfixing storyteller. He is honest about human behavior and its limitations and failings. Don Moffit, the narrator, does a fantastic job of voicing the characters and moving the story along with a gentle yet persistent cadence. Sugar is a fascinating book that is well worth the time, as it is congruent historically and also provides insight to today's world events.
Could not put it down U mean turn it off
First Currency now Sugar. Can't wait to indulge myself in Mr. Wood's other installments. Captivating.
A terrific must read with the deceiving title
If you read this authors book Currensy," sugar " is a must. This next book is a continuation of the social effects of a commodity that was a major product of the ages. The author has a style of mixing the evolution of commerce and a commodity like sugar to today's most valuable natural resources petroleum. It weaves in a story of today's international intrigue and power. It covers the conflicts of today skillfully and filled with factual information. It even skillfully covers up-to-date management of a cancerous lymphoma and treatment affects the individual. All this tied to the secrecy and intrigue of nations fighting for power and petroleum. Another book by L Todd Wood that you can't put aside by a skilled author. Highly recommended
    Ending
Too many "cliffhangers"... Will only read last chapter of potential sequel... Storyline - difficult to follow.

I've been following the Janson series since it started and fortunately it remained strong after different authors took over, but this one was disappointing. The two main characters went separate ways, it was a one-man show with Janson, and the story was all over the place. I hope the next one will be better, preferably written by someone else.
    The Janson Equation
This novel has a very interesting and modern plot. I enjoyed this book very much. The weakness in the story is the crossing into North Korea. Otherwise the story flows well.

The long-awaited reissue of the final part of the classic spy trilogy Hook, Line and Sinker, when the Berlin Wall divided not just a city but a world.
Bernard Samson is surrounded by puzzles and none more complex than Fiona, his wife and the mother of his children. But as a mystery, she is by no means alone. Can a man love two women at the same time? Can a man serve two masters?
Tessa Kosinski, Bernard's socialite sister-in-law, is not the 'other woman'. She is as faithful to Bernard and Fiona as she is unfaithful to her doting husband. But she is vulnerable, and slowly she is drawn from the bright lights of London to the murkiest and most bizarre corners of Berlin.

"All done with the chilling competence we expect from Mr Deighton.... No padding, no slowing of pace, and writing is crisp and brutal." (Daily Telegraph)

    A great listen
Fantastic series couldn't stop listening hoping audible will have the rest of the trilogy soon.
    Resume of 1 to 5 plus ...
Bernard takes a back seat in this one and we follow the story for others points of view - Bret and Fiona take center stage. Covering all the bits and details from the first 'Game' to five 'Line' we get motives and explanations adding insights.
I'm not convinced that this would stand alone without having read the earlier works but it may stand as a good introduction to the next three in the saga
As ever, great writing with super narration

Berger is running a major operation on US soil and both the CIA and SIS are desperate to track him down. So Bailey returns to the arena of international espionage and finds that little has changed. The spy game is just the same, even after 25 years. There's the same brutality. The same cold fear. The same violence and death. And the same choice of enemies.
    Members Reviews:
A rushed spy novel that tries hard...
Ted Allbeury's first novel "A Choice of Enemies" feels very rushed, and fails to make us care about the hero, who finds out that his long-lost daughter lives in the Soviet Union, and then falls in love with a Polish spy while in Communist Warsaw, where he is reunited with his daughter. The book goes from the aftermath of WWII, up to the early '70s, where Foltran and COBOL where only known to a select few, and considered high-tech. Anyway, the hero breaks up a complex ring using computers to steal secrets, and in the climax, tries to escape Poland with his lady love. The novel does a decent job at portraying the Poles and Russians as human.
