With an attack against the Las Vegas Monorail, CIA Director Alexandra Dupuis calls in the agent she counts on in dangerous situations - even though that agent feels betrayed by the very government she serves, the very country she protects - in order to protect American interests.
In Jaclyn Johnson's latest adventure, Dupuis sends the secret agent into the path of a radical Christian terrorist - one whose designs for Sin City would spell disaster for not only the entire Southwest but for the country as a whole, too.
Double Agent is the third book in the Snapshot series, preceding Federal Agent.

Jaclyn saves the world (or Las Vegas) again!!
This is the third outing for CIA Agent Jaclyn Johnson, codename Snapshot. After being outed as a traitor in the last book, Jaclyn has been in hiding for the last month. Now reinstated and exonerated by the President, she has been hired to save Las Vegas from a group of religious zealots. First the newly-built monorail is destroyed, then a couple of gay clubs. Then word gets to Jaclyn that they have their sights on something much bigger. Can she save the day? With Tom Messingham from MI5 on board as her partner, it's a race against time!
This was great. I have read all the 'Agent' books so far and I have to say they just keep getting better each time! This one set off at a blistering pace and didn't let up until the final, shocking ending. Jaclyn is, as always, excellent as the female James Bond type. This time she is joined (again) by Tom Messingham from MI5, who also played her love interest. This allowed us to see another, softer side to her character. Who knew she was vulnerable after all? In situ as usual were the usual fast cars, gizmos and gadgets commensurate with her job.A fantastic romp and a darn good thriller. Please may we have more?
A great read for fans of Jaclyn, if not give the 'Agent' books a go, they are fabulous!
    An engrossing read
I read this book at the end of last year and was astounded by the intrigue, the plots, and the characters. I hadn't read thrillers in a while, not since my early days reading Don Pendleton's Executioner Mack Bolan, and this brought back memories of those but with a slicker plot and a female protagonist. Jaclyn Johnson could easily become my wife if she existed in the real world. A badass, bold, beautiful and she can put out with the best Bond has to offer. I plan to read the rest of the series, but one thing to be aware of. It's refreshing to know I can pick up any of these books and not be lost, because if they're like this one, they can stand on their own. Well done, Mr. Sweeney.
    Jaclyn does it again!
I somehow missed Rogue Agent, which is referred to, throughout this book, but needless to say, you really don't need it, except to fill in a few blanks. Someone is trying to wipe out Las Vegas, and of course, our super-heroine is sent in to get the sucker. Lots of action and really screwed up characters, the villain, especially. I prefer books with a little less sexual innuendo and foul language, but I still love Jaclyn. She's a study in opposites...sweet, loving and totally heartless. Sean Sweeney writes really good books.

    Publisher: Dan Mayland
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 30 votes
    Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Espionage
    Publisher's Summary:
Mark Sava is thrown into the fight of his life when an unresolved Cold War mystery involving his first love collides with a present-day Russia on the march.
Life has never been better for Mark Sava, the former CIA station chief of Azerbaijan. He's recently married, has a newborn daughter, and the launch of his spies-for-hire business in Central Asia has been a great success. Then he gets a call from the US Embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia - one his employees, seventy-two-year-old Larry Bowlan, has died of a heart attack.
Bowlan was also Sava's first boss at the CIA, so Sava feels a responsibility to personally recover the remains of his friend. He hops on a flight to Tbilisi, visits the hotel room in which Bowlan died, and is shocked when he discovers an oil painting that depicts a woman he knows all too well...
So begins four of the most violent and blisteringly personal days of Sava's life as he struggles to protect his future, and the future of a country he loves, by fighting demons from his past.
    Members Reviews:
WOW! A wonderful espionage series just got better
I've listened to the Mark Sava series out of order. First Book 3, then #2, now #4, and soon #1. I awarded Books 2 and 3 four stars. The Death of a Spy is a solid 5 star listen!
Mark Sava is an ex-CIA station chief in Azerbaijan who is who currently lives with his recently married wife and their infant daughter in Kyrgyzstan. Most of his work comes from the CIA. Sava is asked by the CIA to go to Baku, Azerbaijan to look into the death of the current CIA station chief who was Sava's mentor in the CIA. Sava's life is at risk as he fights Russians who are determined to take back Azerbaijaan (which they lost in 1990 when the Soviet Union fell).
    The suspense is non-stop!
I highly recommend Death of a Spy!
    Mark Sava Gets Even Better!
Dan Mayland has done a really good job of expanding Mark Sava as a character as well as reprising a few almost likable anti-heros.
Sava is a believable spy that remains smart and rugged without being overstated. Even better, Mayland's well-researched stories are spun from credible current regional tensions involving the likes of Russia and Iran.
Finally, Mark Boyett's performance adds to the richness of the characters and story, in general.
If you like books of this genre, Death of a Spy is a novel well worth your time and money.
    Worth a listen
Mark Sava is a former CIA agent and now runs a spies-for-hire business in Central Asia. The circumstances that send him off to investigate an employee's death is a bit weak given his home situation, but travel around locales rarely (if ever) used in novels is different enough to get attention. The plot is not particularly intriguing.
Mayland's Mark Sava reminds me of Barry Eisler's John Rain. Mayland's writing is not as entertaining, particularly when comparing descriptions of scenery and challenging circumstances in which characters find themselves. Even so, the Sava series is entertaining enough to spend a credit.

    Format: Unabridged
Length: 11 hrs and 15 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 03-03-15
    Publisher: Penguin Audio
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 37 votes
    Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Espionage
    Publisher's Summary:
A tense and enthralling historical thriller in which British Naval Intelligence officer Ian Fleming attempts to foil a Nazi plot to assassinate FDR, Churchill, and Stalin.
November, 1943. Weary of his deskbound status in the Royal Navy, intelligence officer Ian Fleming spends his spare time spinning stories in his head that are much more exciting than his own life - until the critical Tehran Conference, when Winston Churchill, Franklin Roosevelt, and Josef Stalin meet to finalize the D-Day invasion.
With the Big Three in one place, Fleming is tipped off that Hitler's top assassin has infiltrated the conference. Seizing his chance to play a part in a real-life action story, Fleming goes undercover to stop the Nazi killer. Between martinis with beautiful women, he survives brutal attacks and meets a seductive Soviet spy who may know more than Fleming realizes. As he works to uncover the truth and unmask the assassin, Fleming is forced to accept that betrayal sometimes comes from the most unexpected quarters - and that one's literary creations may prove eerily close to one's own life.
Brilliantly inventive, utterly gripping and suspenseful, Too Bad to Die is Francine Mathews' best novel yet and confirms her place as a master of historical fiction.
    Critic Reviews:
"Absolutely marvelous! This novel masterfully weaves fact and fiction into a high-pitched thriller that keeps us spellbound from the very first pages. Great plotting, exotic locales and historical characters who positively come alive on the page, with some delightful sly winks along the way." (Jeffery Deaver)
"In this complex, remarkable, and suspenseful novel, Francine Mathews combines the genius of Ian Fleming with the drama of World War II and concocts a stunning tale of intrigue and deceit." (Jed Rubenfeld)
"[Ian] Fleming is a complex character with an active imagination and a store of hidden courage. Replete with recognizable characters from history, this look at a crucial period of World War II will satisfy history buffs and mystery lovers alike." (Library Journal)
    Members Reviews:
One of the Best I've listened to in a long while..
My favourite genre, so I have a bias, but entertaining, realistic historical fiction. I finished this in short order wishing there was more.
Solid but safe follow up to Jack 1939
This is a good thriller, particularly for those with WWII history as an interest. I liked how Ian Fleming is the chief protagonist and sort of comes up with the 007 character as he navigates through the treacherous climate of the Tehran Conference. Superb voice work. The drawback of the book was the fairly predictable antagonist, which made it a little less suspenseful.
    Dodgy narration, ok plot
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Hmm - I wouldn't discourage them from reading it but I wouldn't particularly recommend it.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The real characters - Fleming, Churchill, Pamela Churchill et al - in the plot were partly why I bought the book in the first place. The were all such intriguing and larger-than-life people that they do a lot of the work for the writer.

    Brilliant.
Jeremy Robinson and David Wood make a fantastic team. They both have series that grab a readers attention and write fun, action-packed adventures and this audiobook is no different. Zelda Baker, Callsign: Queen is searching for her team-mate Rook when her plane is diverted, Deep Blue wants Queen to do a reconnaissance mission only, but this is Queen and when things get tough she kicks some butt. I will never look at a fairground in the same way ever again.

    Dissappoinrment
The storyline was predictable. I thought I was listening a manual on how to be a spy instead of a novel. The narration was monotone and lacked enthusiasim.
Well written and even better audio!
What made the experience of listening to Blood Line: 1 the most enjoyable?
I like the voice of the narrator.
What did you like best about this story?
It is was exciting and thought provoking.
Which character as performed by Mark Westfield was your favorite?
    Ron Granger
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
    Yes, the epilogue.
    Awful story
A really bad story, with plain characters. Not worth to lose one's time, even for entertainment
    Misses every mark
Would you ever listen to anything by John J. Davis again?
    No
Would you be willing to try another one of Mark Westfields performances?
    Maybe
    Any additional comments?
Such a silliness - unbelievable events - daughter unaware of any of her parents past. Just a big disappointment - did not bother to finish this one - got to Chapter 5 and went elsewhere.....
Entertaining but Narration is rough to get thru
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Narrator. Several times I found myself thinking how good this would be with better narration.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Satisfaction. Its a very pat ending but I didn't mind I thought it fit the story line.
How could the performance have been better?
Needs a different narrator, period. Honestly, it sounded incredibly similar to the computer reader on my Kindle. I could only tolerate it for doses at a time over several days which is out of character for me as I usually finish my books in about 36 hours.
Do you think Blood Line: A Thriller needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Yes. As the book begins and you get to know the characters you "know" that other books are coming - or should be!
    Any additional comments?
I hate to read reviews in which the authors/narrators are bashed. So I hope that my review will not be received that way. No offense to the narrator but the voice was totally wrong for this book.

    Publisher's Summary:
After a failed mission claims the lives of his five-man support team, Stan Tremblay, Callsign: Rook, flees Siberia and finds himself on the secluded coast of Norway, north of the Arctic Circle. Exhausted, cut off from the outside world, and emotionally beaten from his defeat in Russia, Rook just wants to find a place to rest. The small coastal town of Fenris Kystby seems like the perfect place.
Within hours of arriving, he discovers that the town is not as tranquil as it appears. The townspeople are mistrustful of outsiders, a pack of mysterious wolves stalk the local tundra, and two villagers have been killed by a creature that defies explanation. To make things worse, there are rumors of something sinister, something the townspeople refuse to discuss.
Despite the hostility of the locals, Rook commits to stopping the creature from murdering townspeople. As the body count rises, he quickly learns that the greatest threat might walk on two legs. And when he uncovers the town's hidden past, Rook knows only one thing for certain: something is rotten in Norway.
Callsign: Rook was the third in a series of Chess Team novellas released in 2011. Each of the eight audiobooks in the series - deemed the 'Chesspocalypse' - follows a single member of the team, and is co-authored by Jeremy Robinson and one of six other fantastic authors. The stories take place after the events of Threshold, the third Jack Sigler thriller, and before the events of Ragnarok, the fourth full-length novel in the series. The Chesspocalypse novellas are designed to introduce listeners to the series. If you haven't listened to the novels, no worries. Enjoy the ride!

"Greek myth and biotechnology collide in Robinson's first in a new thriller series to feature the Chess Team... Robinson will have readers turning the pages..." (

"Jeremy Robinson's Threshold is one hell of a thriller, wildly imaginative and diabolical, which combines ancient legends and modern science into a non-stop action ride that will keep you turning the pages until the wee hours. Relentlessly gripping from start to finish, don't turn your back on this book!" (Douglas Preston,

    Excellent
Rook is alive but struggling with the events of the last Jack Sigler/ Chess Team book, he just wants to find somewhere quiet to lick his wounds and contemplate re-joining the team. He finds himself in the most remote place and still manages to get into trouble. Jeremy Robinson and Edward G. Talbot write this novella so perfectly, it has the right balance of seriousness, humor and the usual chess team hijinks.
Rook is funny but with substance and I think Kafer does a great job of showing that in his performance.

The past comes back to haunt Sean Dillon and his colleagues, as the New York Times best-selling master of suspense returns with a knife-edge story of terrorism, revenge, and a very old nemesis.
In the past few years, the killing and capture of many Al-Qaeda leaders has left the terrorist organization wounded - but by no means dead. And they intend to prove it.
On a dark summer night, two Chechen mercenaries emerge from the waters off Nantucket to kill a high-value target, the former president of the United States, Jake Cazalet. Unfortunately for them, Cazalet has guests with him, including black ops specialist Sean Dillon and his colleague, Afghan war hero Captain Sara Gideon.
The Chechens do not survive the night, but Dillon is curious as to how they even got on the island. What he discovers sends a chill through his bones - a name from very far back in Dillon's past. If this man is working with the terrorists now, the assassination attempt is only the beginning - and the next time, the results might be much, much different.

    Disappointing, not like Higgins
This book has a middling story rife with ridiculous aspects, unlike Higgins better works. maybe this is an early attempt, but the downers are a drag on the story. For instance, most of the shooting is done with a .25 colt pistol, with is a short range weapon with limited capability. Yet is us used to shoot the bad guys at considerable distances at times. Other ridiculous aspects. top spy shot the back of the head, into the brain, while standing, 4 times. the person is not going to be standing after the first shot. All sorts of situations where main good guys are targeted by al Qaeda but go about as if nothing is wrong and get out of the ambushes by odd means, such as one of them happens to be riding up on horse and charges the bad guys. Twice.
Sean Dillon is God's gift to England
I've read several Jack Higgins books. I got about half way through this one and I lost interest. Sean Dillon and the gang are improbably skilled and the bad guys are all total morons. This book seemed to have a lot of gratuitous killing with the usual excessive Champaign drinking. I think that John LeCarre is a better read.
    Pure Higgins
This book should suit Higgins fans very well. The Brigadiers private army is on the move again. In addition the the story visits familiar places, and samples favorite foods. If you like Higgins you will like this book. Highly recommended.
    Thrilling
As always, Jack Higgins, wrote a great book. They just keep coming and coming and have such great stories to tell. They really keep your interest, are exciting and etc. etc.
    Wonderful and thanks
Another action filled Higgins read ..
Another in a fast reading series with Sean Dillon, Captain Sara Gideon, Major Roper, Ferguson, it goes on and on a lot of different scenarios in his book with the Salter bros, but the action never stops ...

    I keep coming back
I am a 5 time repeater on this one . Mr Patton has crafted a story that has so many avenues he will never run out of storyline stop write on this particular character.
Fans of Tom Clancy rejoice, Patten is here.
Follow Sean Havens a 20 year veteran black-ops operative as he is challenged in ways that even he doesn't see coming. Thrown into a world that he was once fighting against, Havens is forced to make decisions to protect those that he loves along the way.
Narration for Safe Havens: Shadow Masters was done by Charles Kahlenberg. My only qualm is that the first few chapters were a little fast. I wasn't prepared for that. Normally I start a book at normal speed and progressively speed it up as I get used to the narrators tone and delivery. But this one started out at around a 1.5 (without speeding up). The speed gets better after the first few chapters, but it is still something to watch out for. The narrators voice is perfect for this story/character though. I would definitely listen to another Patten/Kahlenberg audiobook.
I love when a book can grab my attention in the beginning. I love even more when it does this AND won't let it go throughout. That's how I felt while I was reading Safe Havens: Shadow Masters. This genre usually isn't something I read a lot of but I have dabbled from time to time. I tell you what, if all Military/Thriller books were this good, I'd be reading a lot more of them.
Patten's style reminds me of Tom Clancy with slightly more edge, which aren't words to be thrown around lightly. I loved the black ops/covert stuff within, it makes me tingle with excitement when I don't know whats going to happen next.
A few times this reminded me of the Bourne books/movies (some of my all-time favorites in the genre), and others you could tell this was a whole new beast.
I will be on the watch out for J.T.
