People who identify as Enneagram 1s are known to be ethical, responsible, and principled people. Enneagram 1s are often called “Perfectionists,” but a more wholistic name for these amazing individuals is the “Reformers.” Enneagram 1s see the potential in the world and commit themselves to seeing the good come to fruition in their own lives, their work, and in the world around them.
One of the downsides that Enneagram 1s experience is the presence of their inner critic, who often dominates one’s inner dialogue — reminding the Enneagram 1 what is wrong, where they have fallen short, and what they need to do to be better. Enneagram 1s find the inner critic to be deflating and exhausting.
My friend, Trevor Lubiens is my guest on the podcast this week, and he will be chatting with us about:
What it is like to be an Enneagram 1,
How to utilize the voice of the inner critic in healthy ways, and
How God has used the Enneagram to deepen his prayer life.
Trevor and his wife Jamie have been friends of mine since I was in college and Trevor and I had a chance to work together for several years on the same church staff. Trevor is now the lead pastor of Midtown Church, a new church plant in Boise. Trevor is a lifelong student, avid reader, golf pro (in his dreams), and sushi enthusiast. More than anything, Trevor is passionate about seeing people grow into more engaged and loving followers of Jesus.
Trevor graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University with a degree in Business and also worked as the university's Creative Director. Trevor has spent the last 15 years in church ministry and is currently working to reimagine church and what it looks like to be a follower of Jesus in the 21st century.
Trevor and Jamie, have been married for over 15 years, and they have two kids, Kellom & Taiya. They moved back to Boise from Nashville 6 years ago and love serving in their respective fields to bring the love of Jesus to every person they meet.
