Clemson wants to speed things up in their legal battle against the ACC. According to the Post and Courier, Clemson has filed a motion for summary judgment in Pickens County, South Carolina. They are asking for a declaration for the judge that the conference only owns Clemson’s TV rights while they are in the ACC, not after they leave. This distinction would mark a difference of several hundred million dollars. If it’s deemed that the ACC retains Clemson’s rights for the duration of their TV deal with ESPN, that would keep their rights under conference control until 2036. Clemson clearly thinks they have an ace up their sleeve based on the language of the ESPN deal and the ACC’s Grant of Rights.
Hosts Alex Donno and Kenton Gibbs discuss the latest in Clemson and Florida State’s legal battles with the conference. It was revealed by Matt Baker from the Tampa Bay Times that UNC actually sought legal counsel before FSU did. Why hasn’t UNC decided to sue the ACC like FSU and Clemson have? The guys discuss four ACC teams who are headed to the Super Regional round of the College Baseball postseason.
