It appears that Drew Pyne is set to return to the football field soon, if not this week, for Arizona State Sun Devils football which posses the question - Is it time to start Pyne? There is a fair argument to be made here. Pyne was brought in during the offseason via the NCAA Transfer Portal to be the guy at least for year one of the Kenny Dillingham era. Last season for Notre Dame, Pyne was efficient and won the Fighting Irish a lot of football games with minimal turnovers. He also was a seamless fit for Dillingham's quarterback friendly offense, which made him feel like a natural starter for the Sun Devils in 2023. However, the arrival of Jaden Rashada for the 2023 recruiting class made things a little less certain and Pyne's hamstring strain during training camp did not help his case at all. While Pyne was sidelined, Rashada was named the starting quarterback and has been up and down through two starts, as any freshman would be. With Pyne's return, will he create a quarterback controversy that could see him usurp Rashada or at least put the two in a pitch count with short leashes?
