Fans follow the recruiting cycles for Oregon Football year-after-year and with good reason. If Oregon is going to get back to the College Football Playoff, they have to be able to recruit at a high level. It may sound fun to be known as "(insert position) University" on the recruiting trail, but that should only come about as a byproduct rather than a focus for the coaching staff. Oregon Football has sent 2 teams to National Championship games, and there are lessons to be learned when it comes to the differences between those two rosters. Though the 2014-15 team featured the best player in program history (Marcus Mariota), the makeup of that roster is a much more repeatable formula for success than trying to reach the College Football Playoff with a team resembling the 2010-11 Ducks team led by Chip Kelly.

Future Oregon Basketball SF Mookie Cooke (Class of 2023) is the 2nd-highest rated recruit the Ducks have ever brought in on the hardwood, trailing only Bol Bol in the Class of 2018. They hype around Cooke is well-deserved, he has all the physical traits and skills to be an elite college basketball player--his shooting can improve, but he has the potential to impact the game in multiple ways.
