In this solo episode, Ginny kicks things off with her sidekick -- her drink. And the beverage of choice for this conversation is a margarita because they can be a little bit spicy and a little bit sweet. Work-life balance is a topic that we hear people preach about. But does it actually exist? Ginny may have an unpopular opinion on this but she doesn't believe it exists. And that's because it's all just life. It comes down to prioritizing what's important at the time and being present for that. Whether that is work, family time, dinner, time with friends, kids' activities, vacation, exercise, or whatever else you have going on in life. She shares a story about the first time she was forced to check out from work while on vacation because she unexpectedly didn't have any cell phone service. If you're a leader and you preach work-life balance but don't practice it yourself, pay attention to how that impacts your team. What we say and do can have tremendous influence on those around us. No one is going to remember how much you worked, except maybe your kids. It's important to keep everything in life in balance.
As the great Dolly Parton says, "Don't be so busy making a living that you forget to make a life."
