Tua Tagovailoa was sacked on 4th & 12 on the Dolphins final drive after being intercepted near midfield on their previous drive, the Miami offense continuously hurt themselves with bad penalties, the defense couldn’t make plays to get stops, and the Miami Dolphins fell to 0-2 with a tough 33-27 home loss to the New England Patriots at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

The Dolphins showed some serious heart fighting back from a 2-touchdown deficit to briefly take the lead, but the Patriots made big plays on all 3 sides of the ball in the 4th quarter to win the game.

Miami fans thought they had taken the lead when Tua hit De’Von Achane with a beautiful catch and run all the way to the house, but he had stepped out of bounds on the 26 yard line.

Rookie kicker Andres Borragales- from the University of Miami- nailed a 54-yard field goal with 1:47 left, then kicked off short of the landing zone to give Miami the ball at their own 35.

Tua was intercepted on 4th & 9 near midfield with 2:12 on the clock to give New England the ball back.

The Dolphins had the Patriots in 3rd & long on 2 key 2nd half drives, but New England QB Drake Maye was able to escape a sack from Jalen Phillips on a 3rd & long, and outrun Mathew Judon to the edge in a late touchdown run.

After a 3 & out on their opening drive, Tagovailoa finally got the Dolphins’ offense going- tossing TD passes to Achane and Jaylen Waddle, as the Dolphins fought back from a 12-0 deficit to take their 1st lead of the season, 17-15.

Tua threw TD passes on Miami's last 2 drives of the 1st half and led Miami down the field to kick a field-goal to start the 3rd quarter.

The Dolphins’ defense didn’t stop the New England offense at all in the 1st half either. The Patriots scored 2 touchdowns on their 1st 2 drives and kicked a field goal on their 3rd drive. The 3 drives went 10, 11 & 15 plays for a total of 209 yards.
