When we become conscious of the distortions of the mind, (eg how it judges others, makes constant comparisons, complains etc), the idea often arises that these mind patterns need to be changed or somehow eliminated. However, this idea is also born from the mind!

  It's not necessary to change the mind, but just to observe it and see it for what it is, without identifying with or believing in the thoughts. Instead of being invested in the content of mind, focus your attention on the spacious awareness in which the thoughts arise. Your mind will then gradually quieten and you will deepen into the stillness of Being.
