For the documentary Icarus, lifelong cyclist Bryan Fogel set out to explore performance-enhancing drugs while also examining how easy it might be to beat anti-doping tests. With the help of Moscow anti-doping lab director Grigory Rodchenkov, Fogel used PEDs to train for the 2015 Haute Route. Along the way, he inadvertently became entrenched in the clandestine world of Russian state-sponsored doping. We spoke with Fogel about what ended up on the cutting-room floor after his project took an unexpected turn.
