LOST: Down the Hatch | Season 3 Premiere: “A Tale of Two Cities”
Josh Wigler (@roundhoward) and Mike Bloom (@AMikeBloomType) are taking Down the Hatch downtown.
Josh and Mike tell “A Tale of Two Cities,” as they finally get into the third season of LOST. They gush about the debut of Juliet Burke, dump on Jack and his very bad flashback behavior, and otherwise wax poetic on the first foray into Hydra Island.
Josh and Mike Bloom will return for “The Glass Ballerina” on July 31, 2020.
About Down the Hatch …
LOST: Down the Hatch is a full-tilt spoiler-filled rewatch of LOST. Every week, Josh and Mike break down an episode of LOST with the benefit of knowing the series’ full trajectory, using the following structure as a guide:
We Go “Fourth” – Josh and Mike begin each podcast with a deep-dive into the story both in front of and behind the camera, and they do so with the assistance of eight sound clips from each episode.
The Others – Josh and Mike answer questions sent their way by listeners through the official e-mail address: [email protected].
23 Points – Each week, Josh and Mike hand out points for the best and worst characters of the episode in question, in a foolhardy attempt to determine the most and least valuable players in the LOST pantheon.
4.2 Stars – Josh and Mike rank every episode of LOST, by rating them all on a scale from 0 – 4.2. Josh and Mike offer their individual scores, listeners’ scores will be averaged as a third data point, then the three points combine as the podcast’s official score on each episode.
Schedule for the next few weeks:
The Glass Ballerina feedback due 7/27, podcast drops 7/31
Further Instructions feedback due 8/6, podcast drops 8/8
Every Man For Himself feedback due 8/9, podcast drops 8/12

LOST: Down the Hatch | Season 2 Book Club: Bad Twin + The ARG Recap
Josh Wigler (@roundhoward) welcomes Jonathan Krause and The Ben Behind the Curtain for a special episode of LOST: Down the Hatch.
In the season two book club, Jon and Ben guide Josh and the listeners through a literary tour of season two — if Gary Troup’s “Bad Twin” counts as literature, at least! The podcast focuses on spoiling the entirety of “Bad Twin,” plus recapping the LOST Alternate Reality Game from the summer between seasons two and three.
Josh and Mike Bloom will return for the season three premiere recap on July 24, 2020.

LOST: Down the Hatch | Season 2 Feedback Show
Josh Wigler (@roundhoward) and Mike Bloom (@AMikeBloomType) are done with season two of LOST.
Okay, not quite. In fact, Josh and Mike are taking one last chance to look back at the sophomore season of “Lost,” guided by feedback from the Hatchlings, the results of the MVP/LVP points and the 4.2 Stars episode rankings, and more as they look ahead toward season three.
Mike will be missing from the podcast next week; a season two book club podcast with Josh, Jonathan Krause and a special guest will drop instead of the season three premiere recap. Expect the season three premiere recap on July 24, 2020.

LOST: Down the Hatch | Season 2 Finale: “Live Together, Die Alone”
Josh Wigler (@roundhoward) and Mike Bloom (@AMikeBloomType) are here to blow the dam, chickens be damned.
In their recap of the season two finale of LOST, called “Live Together, Die Alone,” Josh and Mike watch as the sky turns purple and nobody says a single thing about it. Seriously, no one? It’s one of a few petty grievances between Josh, Mike and the otherwise beloved season two finale, as they dig into behind-the-scenes details that led to the finale’s creation, the resolution of Michael’s search for Walt, and much more.

LOST: Down the Hatch | Season 2, Episode 22: “Three Minutes”
Josh Wigler (@roundhoward) and Mike Bloom (@AMikeBloomType) take a lot longer than three minutes to discuss “Three Minutes.”
In “Three Minutes,” Michael Dawson and the group deal with the aftermath of Ana Lucia and Libby’s deaths, all while Michael reflects on the circumstances that led to the brutal choice. Is “Three Minutes” the best penultimate episode of the series? Josh and Mike weigh in on that and much more.

LOST: Down the Hatch | Season 2, Episode 21: “?”
Josh Wigler (@roundhoward) and Mike Bloom (@AMikeBloomType) have a few questions, and they want them answered immediately.
In their discussion of “?,” Josh and Mike talk about the episode with the shortest episode title of any other LOST outing. Ana-Lucia is dead, but Mister Eko has other problems on the mind. Josh and Mike ask questions about the island’s intentions, the Smoke Monster’s role in the proceedings, and more.

LOST: Down the Hatch | Season 2, Episode 20: “Two for the Road”
Josh Wigler (@roundhoward) and Mike Bloom (@AMikeBloomType) are pouring one out for two tailies, caught in the crossfire of a very bad decision.
In their discussion of “Two for the Road,” Josh and Mike look back on one of the most shocking twist endings of the series to date: Michael shooting Ana-Lucia, Libby and himself in an effort to rescue his son from the Others. It’s a powerhouse ending, but what about the rest of the episode? Does it hold up nearly as well? Josh and Mike dig in to that question and much more.

LOST: Down the Hatch | Season 2, Episode 19: “S.O.S.”
Josh Wigler (@roundhoward) and Mike Bloom (@AMikeBloomType) set out on a mission to grab stones for an “S.O.S.” signal in the latest episode of LOST: Down the Hatch.
In their discussion of “S.O.S.,” Josh and Mike take on the first and only flashback centering on Rose and Bernard, played by L. Scott Caldwell and Sam Anderson. Their conversation covers the touching love story between two of the show’s most beloved recurring characters, how it embodies so many of the themes at the heart of LOST, and much more.

LOST: Down the Hatch | Season 2, Episode 18: “Dave”
Josh Wigler (@roundhoward) and Mike Bloom (@AMikeBloomType) take some lasagna for the road as they voyage forward with “Dave.”
In their discussion of “Dave,” Josh and Mike take on one of the more polarizing episodes in LOST lore. There’s the Dave of it all, of course, as Sex and the City veteran Evan Handler appears on the island as Hurley’s maybe-imaginary friend Dave… unless he’s the Smoke Monster? Josh and Mike explore the possibilities and much more in their recap of “Dave.”

LOST: Down the Hatch | Survivor: The End (of Extinction)
Josh Wigler (@roundhoward) and Mike Bloom (@AMikeBloomType) mark the 10 year anniversary of the LOST series finale the only way they know how: full tilt ridiculousness.
In a very special (and highly skippable) episode of Down the Hatch, Josh and Mike pit “The End” against 19 other episode endings from LOST lore, thanks to Google’s random number generator tool, as well as the Survivor simulation service known as BrantSteele. Which randomly selected episode of LOST has the very best ending of all time? Find out the answer thanks to Survivor Lost: The End (of Extinction), the most mathematical way of determining which ending is the best humanly possible.
Or don’t listen to the podcast. Again, highly skippable shenanigans. If you are going to listen, strong recommendation to watch the video version of this podcast. Your regularly scheduled programming will resume on May 29 with the recap of season two’s “Dave.”
