Now the Rotkommando is poised on the brink of a crazed kamikaze mission to nuke Israel and ignite World War III. Critic Reviews:
"Action. Action. Action. Literature in the fast lane." (The Toronto Star)
"Here is another world-class thriller, fresh, bright, and topical." (The Globe and Mail)
Narrator Steve Scherf quickly assumes a rapid pace for the story, told through the eyes of an ex-CIA agent who is coerced into the high-stakes world of global terrorism. Scherf skillfully transitions his voice from hostages to interrogators using a wide variety of global dialects, with Beverley Elliot skillfully voicing the female characters. (AudioFile)

Tense political thriller.
Where does Mecca rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
A fast-paced political thriller, set in the ruthless world of espionage and terrorism where life is cheap, and winning is the only thing which matters.
Theres no-one as motivated as someone with something to gain, and the Lawyer of Slack Sawchuck, a former terrorist is told he can offer him a deal, in exchange for a mission. The deal - for a full pardon, and pension. The mission - he must help infiltrate an extreme warlords deadly troops, The Rotkommando, who have a nuclear bomb and intend to use it to start WWIII.
The original print version of this book was published over 30 years ago, so occasionally it may seem dated, however, its setting, is not. The storyline of a world at risk from terrorists and extremists, with crooked politicians and corruption, unfortunately, is just as easily recognised today.
What about Steve Scherf and Beverley Elliott s performance did you like?
This audiobook is narrated by talented Steve Scherf and Beverley Elliot, who successfully conjure up the wide variety of international voices necessary for this global thriller.
An astounding tour de force
In another characteristic Deverell case of corruption, intrigue and politics, Mecca is an astounding tour de force of fast-paced drama and black humour. The complexities of the plot are too convoluted to summarise, but there is plenty here to intrigue, to surprise, to amuse and to entertain.
Slack Sawchuck realises his life in Cuba is at an end. A former member of a political pressure group, he attempts to sidestep an American arrest warrant by flying to Canada. On the plane, relaxing with his second drink, Slack falls into confident conversation with the guy in the next seat.
