    Publisher's Summary:
A century and a half after the Martian Separatist Wars and the final defeat of insane terrorist leader El Ahmi, Alexander Moore returns to the stars with the Sienna Madira, a United States Navy supercarrier spacecraft outfitted with advanced FTL and endlessly strange, extremely effective, quantum-based weapons and remote sensing technology. And, of course, he's brought marines and lots of them. These are troops superbly trained for space battle and equipped with advanced powered armor and artificial intelligence backup.
Moore's task: hunt down remnant weaponry platforms left by the brilliant, mad artificial intelligence known as Copernicus, the being ultimately responsible for the solar system-wide civil war. Yet Moore is about to uncover something far more sinister: Before his destruction, Copernicus had established multiple mecha-warrior-defended bases with the intent of resuming the destruction of humanity. Worse, an AI presence even more dangerous, evil, and clever than Copernicus may have formed an alliance with something else out there with a similar goal: to wipe humanity from the galaxy forever. But those enemies will have to face a fully armed and equipped military task force led by a resolute general and his soldiers, who know they are all that stand between human life, freedom, and progress - and the total annihilation of mankind.

    The Dead Have Awakened
It is 10 years after the global apocalypse. The Phage, the zombie virus that brought the world to its knees, has mutated, restoring the minds of its undead victims: their personalities, their memories... even their dreams. The living dead are no longer the mindless monsters that drove mankind to the brink of extinction.
But they still possess their insatiable hunger for human flesh.
    Kept Like Animals
Brent Scarborough is a veteran survivor. He has been dodging the undead for nearly a decade. When he learns there is a city controlled and populated by living human beings, a place they call Home, he and his companion, Harold Killian, head immediately for this refuge of the living.
But they are captured on the last leg of their journey. Harold is killed, and Brent is imprisoned in a terrible zombie gulag, a nightmarish facility where the living are kept like animals and forced to breed for their hungry zombie masters.
Refusing to be defeated, Brent forges alliances with his desperate fellow inmates. His only goal is escape, but bearing down on the facility is a herd of mindless chompers, zombies who have not yet reawakened, and it is the largest and most destructive herd the living and dead have ever seen!
Set 10 years after the events in the popular zombie novel Mort, Cattle is a no-holds-barred action horror novel that is as original as it is fearless. Author Joseph Duncan (who formerly wrote under the pen name Rod Redux) has pulled out all the stops in his latest post-apocalyptic novel.

    FRESH MEAT
HE MIGHT NOT BE THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE SILVERWARE DRAWER
Holly Cow, this is really good!!! This is the best book I have listened to all year. I have repeatedly said that Cell by King is my favorite Zombie book and I have read a ton, but now that has changed. This catches your attention right from the start and you might be a little worried that is going to become the same old same old and then the story takes an about face and becomes like no other Zombie book you have read. Such a unique take on the genre. The story continues to build, get better and get better as it goes along.
    YOU APOLOGIZE A LOT
Warning, do not attempt to eat a meal, while listening. There are some gut wrenching gross moments in this book. It is not full of them, but the ones presented do the trick. Off hand I am thinking of a certain amputation scene. There are also others. They are included in order to further the story, they are not gore for gore sake. I'M SORRY
OF COURSE I CAN, I'M FROM TENNESSEE
Now for another very strange part of the listening experience. The narrator is extremely different. At first you may think he sounds a little YA or amateurist. Keep listening, I promise he will grow on you. The naïve voice he gives to the main character actually plays into the horror. The narrators' voice, often sounds like he has cotton in his mouth. I was convinced that he and the writer were from Australia or some British Colony. I figured he was talking weird to sound American Southern. It is like a cross between The Swedish Chef on Sesame Street and Forrest Gump. Instead of Arkcansaw, it is R-Kansas. His friends or not his buddies, but his chums. Rear lawn instead of Backyard. A Gain instead of again. I looked the author up and he is from Southern Illinois. Anyways, it works, it works very well.
This is a horror, and done well.

    Language: English
    Release date: 03-25-15
    Publisher: Recorded Books
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 114 votes
    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Sci-Fi: Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
At first, Into the Forest was a word-of-mouth favorite of booksellers. Soon larger publishing houses were noticing Jean Hegland's debut novel and giving it rave reviews. Powerful and disturbing, Into the Forest offers images of an all-too-believable future. As America collapses in the chaos of war, pollution, and bankruptcy, two sisters pool their resources to survive alone in the hills above San Francisco. Although dwindling food and increasing isolation threaten them, they soon find a more immediate danger standing at their door. When a young man arrives, his friendship offers tantalizing fulfillment, but his love threatens to divide the sisters.
Hegland's provocative work is reminiscent of George Orwell's 1984 and Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale. It infuses a tale of survival with startling insights into a young woman's quest for strength.

A future of the past. 5 star production!
Jean Hegland weaves and unravels and stitches together a tale of love, resourcefulness and courage so compellingly plausible that I feel the need to study the healing power of herbs to prepare for her imagined future.
Equally gripping is Alyssa Bresnahan's narration. Her pacing is spot on, her voices distinct and yet subtle. She is ever present for every thought, word, sentence.

    A realistic post apocalypse book
This tale was believable. The characters were likable and real. There were times when I couldn't put this one down.
    Depressing
Boring and depressing. Wouldn't recommend. I feel like I need to read a comedy now.
    Depressing, boring, & disturbing
I read this book because I enjoy apocalyptic books of survival and relational intrigue. It was on topic, but so disappointing in its content. The characters were unlikeable and, as a man, a nihilistic thrust of feminism was off-putting. I was hoping for some redemption in the end, but was again let down.
    Different dystopia
Don't expect monsters and massive death. This version is actually more real, more to heart.

"I wasn't afraid of death. If I died, it would be over. My worst fear wasn't of dying, it was of living. It terrified me, right down to my very core, to be alive while the rest of the world was dead."

    Fantastic Story!
An enjoyable read that really leaves in suspense. I love the zombie apocalypse. I really enjoyed book 1 and I'm looking forward to book 2.
Slow start, but was captivated in the end!
I wasn't too sure about the book at first. It seemed kind of cheesy and they were a lot of holes in the story line. I was confused about the 'crazies' vs the 'zombies', but I'm so glad I stuck through it! About a quarter of the way through it started getting better and better. It's pretty convenient that the main character has martial arts training and a prepper grandfather. Sometimes I like it when they develop and become badasses throughout the book.
Some things kind of irritated me though. I think it's an obvious in the zom-poc you want to be as quiet as possible, and sometimes them making noise like they do doesn't make sense. Smashing glass when it isn't necessary and shooting their guns when they don't need to.
I also got really irritated when she did the typical 'guy tries to tell girl something romantic like and they get interrupted right before he says it' thing like TWENTY TIMES! I mean, I love a little cat and mouse for a while, but it started to get annoying.
Overall though it was a great book. They ending was such a cliffhanger and had me frantically searching the internet to see if the other books are out. Needless to say, I will be buying them and finding out what happens. I definitely recommend this book for the zom-poc/thriller lovers like me. Just stick through the first hour or so and you won't regret it!
As far as the narrator goes, she was okay, but one of the characters , Podrick, is supposed to have an irish accent and he didn't have one at all. It was kind of weird when they kept talking about his accent and the narrator didn't attempt it. Other than that, she wasn't too bad!!
Great read but next book not up
I really liked this, I would have like it more if I hadn't realise 20 chapters in that despite the next book having been publish so time before it was not yet on audible.

A computer-hacking teen. The girl who wants to save him. And a rogue mirror reflection that might be the death of them both.
In private, 17-year-old Brandon hacks bank accounts just for the thrill of it. In public, he looks like any other tattooed bad boy with a fast car and devil-may-care attitude. He should know: he's worked hard to maintain that façade. With inattentive parents who move constantly from city to city, he's learned not to get tangled up in things like friends and relationships. So he'll just keep living like a machine, all gears and wires.
Then two things shatter his carefully-built image: Emma, the kind, stubborn girl who insists on looking beneath the surface - and the small matter of a mirror reflection that starts moving by itself. Not only does Brandon's reflection have a mind of its own, but it seems to be grooming him for something - washing the dye from his hair, yanking out his piercings, swapping his black shirts for... pastels. Then it tells him: it thinks it can live his life better, and it's preparing to trade places. And when it pulls Brandon through the looking-glass, not only will he need all his ill-gotten hacking skills to escape, but he's going to have to face some hard truths about who he's become. Otherwise he'll be stuck in a digital hell until he's old and gray, and Emma and his parents won't even know he's gone.

    Cyberpunk at its best
Take a novel hacker concept, mix in some teenage angst along with A-type parental psychological issues and, finally, add a dollop of nanobots and be prepared for an enjoyable story telling tale.
    FAST ACTION WITH FRESH CONCEPT
This book is like Matrix for YA. It fills you with all the ideas of OMG this could be happening right now! Lots of action, interesting characters and just enough real tech references to hook you in right away.
    Sequel please!
For fans of YA books that are not romance driven!
I impulsively bought this book when it was a daily deal, but wow! I was utterly shocked by how good this book is! I burned through it in about a day and a half! Im an adult, but this book is still very relatable; I was a teenager with a remarkably bad attitude at one point in my life, too!
I have been seeing other reviewers describe this book as the YA matrix and it absolutely is. However, there is a lot going on this book: a complex protagonist turned hero, good vs evil, coming of age, and a smattering of romance, all in the backdrop of an interesting cyberpunk story line. MacLeod Andrews performance is fantastic, and he really made this book exciting! He voices the female characters well, too, without over the top, cringe-worthy voicings, and I am so appreciative of that.
My only issue is that this book has an open-ended ending which I am not all that fond of; as soon as this book ended I was relentlessly searching to see if there is/will be a sequel, but to no such avail. All in all, I was not disappointed by Duplicity! Highly recommend for fans of YA books that do not revolve solely around romance!
Entertaining as long as you don't analyze too much
Duplicity has a really interesting main character and a fascinating premise - what if your reflection has a life of its own? The problem is that the author's plot device of a Matrix-like electronic world connected to ours through nanobots does not provide a believable explanation for everything that occurs.

After the Red Allies turn New York City into a POW camp, two sisters must decipher the past in order to protect the future in this action-packed thriller with a dual narrative.
It's been nearly two decades since the Red Allies first attacked New York, and Manhattan is now a prisoner-of-war camp ruled by Rolladin and her brutal, impulsive warlords. For Skyler Miller, Manhattan is a cage that keeps her from the world beyond the city's borders. But for Sky's younger sister, Phee, the POW camp is a dangerous playground of possibility--and the only home she'd ever want.
When Sky and Phee discover their mom's hidden journal from the war's outbreak, they both realize theres more to Manhattan--and their mother--than either of them ever imagined. And after a group of strangers arrives at the annual POW census, the girls begin to uncover the island's long-kept secrets. The strangers hail from England, a country supposedly destroyed by the Red Allies, and Rolladin's lies about Manhattan's captivity begin to unravel.
Hungry for the truth, the sisters set a series of events in motion that end in the death of one of Rolladin's guards. Now they're outlaws, forced to join the strange Englishmen on an escape mission through Manhattan. Their flight takes them into subways haunted by cannibals, into the arms of a sadistic cult in the city's Meatpacking District, and through the pages of their mom's old journal, into the island's dark and shocking past.

I really wanted to like this book!
I really wanted to like this book. it's an interesting premise based on the description, execution just wasn't there. the characters ended up in a love triangle, and every twist was predictable miles away. great performances, but save your credits unless you are into poorly done YA fiction.
Potentially biased, but five stars ;)
I loved this performance with the three different narrators-- brought such depth to the story!
    Savagely entertaining

    Zombie Genre Wins Again
What I am about to say might make a few of you jealous... I just had a six week holiday! The bad news is that I could not and did not listen to a single audio book in that time. It started to feel like I was never going to return to my audio books. I tried several times with different books from different genres. But I am glad to say the one which got me back again was a zombie story. If it wasn't was my good old faithful zombie favourites I would be faced with a boring commute and sadly more time to ponder my own worthless life... did I just really type that? I need another holiday!
The main characters are still just as hard, still just as tough, but this time round a softer side starts to come out. Don't worry manly men this is no Mills and Boon type deal.
RC Brays narration once again captures the personality of each character. Honestly, this book seems written with his narration in mind!
I find with Brays narration 1.25x speed is perfect, but once again this decreases what is already a short title to begin with. Since buying this one, I see the Omnibus version has been released. That does dramatically slash the cost of the series. Just wish I knew of this earlier! My suggestion is just go buy the Arisen omnibus and save yourself the money! You cant just buy one of them and not want all of them!
If you are the type who like me, in the event of the zombie Apocalypse would be the first to go you know to fat, to slow, to soft, then this is the one for you. Live through the lives of those who are just mean and lean fighting machines!
Once again I can highly recommend this one!
Great addition, but still unfinished series.
Excellent zombie series. This is a well integrated addition and continues the story. It is not a conclusion to the series though. Recommend it if you read the others.
Spec Ops vs the undead hoards
    Any additional comments?
If you enjoy military thrillers and tales of the undead you will love this series! These books will draw you in and not let go. A series compendium was just released so you may as well buy the whole set so you don't have to stop to reload. And you know - in the ZA reloading can take precious seconds that you just don't have as the hungry zombie hoards crush in around you!
    Great Series
I've read and/or listened a lot of books in this genre and these are by far the best, and it's not even close.
My only criticism is they are way too short for Audible - they need combine at least two books for an Audible credit.

The Prescot family were miners. At one time, they were contracted to develop technology for a mineral-rich but uninhabitable system. Gradually, all the investors shied away. Then the Prescots broke through with the technology needed to exploit entire planets, and incidentally develop domed playgrounds for the perversely rich, including indoor ski slopes and cable cars over megavolcanos, casinos and rides. This created the economic problem of being the richest people in the universe, having more money than most governments and effectively unlimited resources. Money is a small blessing when enemies are quite willing to spend billions for the chance at trillions. Bryan Prescot and his daughter might as well have targets painted on their backs for the thugs, kidnappers, and assassins their competitors would throw at them. Bodyguards were necessary - Highly trained bodyguards who could be bought once and be utterly loyal no matter the circumstances. The altercation comes to a head inside the domes and mines of Govannon, with their enemy desperate to do anything to save their own lives, now that the gloves are off. Caron Prescot has only six bodyguards against an army, but she has two aces in the hole: The miners are on her side, and Elke, Ripple Creek's psychotic demolition expert, has a nuke. The problem with Elke having a nuke is that Elke will use it.

So glad I was introduced to this series
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I can't rave about this series enough. It is well written, narrated by a VERY talented narrator, and is so engaging. I love this genre and this is definitely one to dig into!
    Warriors come out to play!
It's a great story for any zombie lover. Think; Zombieland meets The Walking Dead. Hilarious tale of survivors because of their smart remarks, as they face their worst fears, human nature and really hard choices. Compared to the first three or four books in the series darkness before Dawn is not as gruesome but definitely shocking, exciting, new and inventive, strange, pulse pounding, nerve racking and will definitely keep you guessing what comes next.
    Dear Lovers of Zombie fiction...
    Any additional comments?
Dear lovers of zombie fiction,If you have not been keeping up with this series or have not been introduced to this series, you're really missing out.I freely admit that the first book in the series did take a little getting used to for me because I wasn't a huge fan of the narration at first. But I had read some of the books in the series before and wanted to remember them again to be able to continue forward with the series - nothing worse that forgetting everything about what you read in the past and not knowing where you are in the series. So by the second book, I was definitely invested and have been ever since. This series is super good. I mean it takes you on a roller coaster of not just emotions but just STORY and STORYTELLING which is fabulous when you're talking about a long span of books. It's never always predictable and while there is some "hero stuff" and hero like characters at times - that's ok because you can understand that the strong people with strong beliefs would be the people that would be leaders of groups, for as long as they're able to manage it.If you're looking over these reviews because you're not sure if you should give it a try, I encourage you to definitely give the first two a try because if you're not hooked by then, maybe they're not for you- but you're rewarded with a lot of entertainment if you stick with the series.
