    Critic Reviews:
"Bohacz's vision of a humanity that faces the need to evolve profoundly or face certain destruction is as timely as today's news and as chilling a doomsday scenario as any ecological catastrophe can suggest." (Publisher's Weekly Starred Review)
"There is enough power in the premise to leave readers reeling. A novel that will surprise fans of science-fiction and doomsday scenarios." (Kirkus Reviews)
"Immortality is a fine, tense, scientific mystery adventure that puts mankind in a challenge of survival with a short time limit. This is the way the world could end." (Piers Anthony, author of 21 New York Times best-selling novels)

    Good End of World Thriller
I like this genre, but after reading so many they get sort of repetitious. This one had a different slant and I found it interesting. THe basic theme is that there is a plague that is slowly wiping out the world's population. However, this one is different in that it is not actually transmitted from person to person but is triggered by a different method, resulting in what are called dead zones. People within a certain radius of just a few hundred yards almost instantly drop dead. Obviously this can cause mayhem if people are operating cars or other heavy machinery. So we have a thriller that involves the typical chaos when lots of people start to die, the world taken over by gangs bent on murder and mayhem, and a science thriller of tracking down the cause of the deaths.
It's a long book (26 hours) and the author has a tendency to add too many unneeded details, but it holds your interest. The narration is fairly good with the single narrator able to have a rather large range of voices. So if you like books like Stephen King's The Stand, or "plague" books you will like this. No zombies however, (Not sure I can take another Zombie Book) The length of the book makes it a good "bang for your audible buck." . You need a little patience in the beginning as the author introduces the major characters, a CDC doctor and a Nobel Prize winning Scientist.
    Story Alright, Flaws Reported Below
This writer has some great ideas that develop okay over the course of the book but I really wish it had been done without all the sophomoric interpersonal "relationship" drama that not only were superfluous but were poorly done and reflected badly on the author. Eg. all the young "girls" in their 20's were hot for the old guys in their 40's, 50's etc. Really Kevin? And one main character, a female cop, had an inordinate amount of blatant sexual harassment perpetrated upon her person which for the most part she handled like a scared 12 year old girl.
Another issue I had was the constant reference of the bacteria as an animal.

    Classic dystopian cyber-punk
John Shirley does an amazing job world building and his characters are very human and relatable. This is a grim world overrun by a fascist regime that has subversively taken over large portions of the world.
If you love cyber-punk (why else would you be here?) this is definitely a worthwhile read.

    Not buying the next one.
Again, the performance of the speaker was horrible, same cadence, and poor accents. Previous stories and plots were pretty good, but for the cost, it's not worth it.

Welcome to: Craing Dominion, Book 5 of the best-selling Scrapyard Ship series.
Truly dark times have come to the Allied forces, the crew of The Lilly, and Earth - we knew they were coming but nothing will have prepared you for this
With the introduction of Craing commander Ot-Mul, theres a new standard for evil that will not only shape the rest of this series, but science fiction literature as a whole.
Join Captain Jason Reynolds as he ventures into the proverbial lions den in a last ditch effort to even the playing field with the Craing - an empire that has embarked on a pursuit that will guarantee their de facto dominance for millennia to come.

Don't tell the Captain it's impossible!
I was one of the doubting Toms that felt I had fallen down the rabbit hole in a previous book when Captain Jason and his band of square pegs declared war on the enemy's round holes. With the odds at 1500 to 3, I didn't think Jason 'n crew were long for this world. Boy, am I glad I had no takers! In Craing Dominion, Ganser carefully creates the worlds that author McGinnis shaped with words. It doesn't look good for the Alliance after members pick up and leave because they feel the Doomed card has been dealt to all the members. On the up side, we can now call some of the enemy by name and evilness! Get the book but in order!

The living dead are more alive than ever! Our most imaginative literary minds have been devoured by these incredible creatures and produced exciting, insightful, and unflinching new works of zombie fiction. We've again dug up the best stories published in the last few years and compiled them into an anthology to feed your insatiable hunger.

    A well blended mix
What did you like best about Zombies: More Recent Dead? What did you like least?
none of the stories were the same, each one took a different spin on the zombie storyline
    Very weak sequel.
I did not enjoy this book. Very few stories were at all interesting. I found this to lean more toward fantasy (yes, I get that zombies are fantastical) rather than horror. They were not remotely frightening and, to me, they were rather tiresome.
So many Zombies so little time.
Many of the tales have a new twist or the ending is a surprise. i love zombie tales. i love the struggle that is overcome and the ingenuity of the human spirit. A platitude but still my opinion.
    Good form.
I enjoyed this tremendously. Having listened to this one - I'm going to grab the first one. The Recent Dead.

Aerospace tycoon Gordon Elliot Lee cannot stand idly by while a mysterious alien presence from Delta Pavonis bears down upon mankind's only home. Shut out from NASA and military support, Gordon is forced to go it alone, to sow the seeds for an entirely new sort of planetary defense: a space-based naval force.
Joined by Nathan Kelley - a bloodied naval warrior, scarred by his own actions in the waters off North Korea - and Kris Munoz - an avant garde scientific genius with more ideas than sense - these three will scour the very edges of fringe science and engineering to attempt development of Earth's first space navy in time to oppose the Deltan invasion.
Beset by ridicule, government obstruction, industrial espionage, and their own personal demons, it will take a miracle just to get off the ground. But the challenges on Earth are nothing compared to what awaits them in space. Against an unknown alien enemy with vastly superior technology, a handful of human scientists and warriors must become the sword that holds the darkness at bay.
Missiles will flash, railguns will rumble, lasers will burn, and defenders will die. If they fail, our end is at hand.
    Critic Reviews:
"Solid adventure, intrigue, and speculative space-tech, from a rising star in military science fiction." (David Brin, Hugo and Nebula Award-winning author of Existence)
"There are brilliant first contact stories, great space combat stories, and amazing stories of technological discovery. Rarely do you find all three in the same novel. Remember the name Thomas A. Mays. You're going to be seeing it on the best-seller list." (Jeff Edwards, award-winning author of Sea of Shadows and The Seventh Angel)
"Sharply written, suspenseful, and tightly plotted, A Sword Into Darkness reads like the best Tom Clancy novels, with a science fiction heart provided by Arthur C. Clark. Can't wait to read more from Thomas Mays!" (Graham Brown, #1 New York Times best-selling author of Zero Hour)
    Members Reviews:
Great Audio Rendition of Military Sci-Fi
What did you love best about A Sword Into Darkness?
The concept of humanity having two decades to prepare for first contact, the vivid description of the technology, and the high-stakes plot were awesome.
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favorite character was the brilliant girl who blew up her developing the futuristic propulsion system. Who doesn't like a girl like that?
    Which scene was your favorite?
Describing my favorite scene would be a spoiler because my favorite scene was near the end. Suffice to say, it was the final battle scene.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The launch of the Sword was a pivotal moment that moved me.
    Any additional comments?
I gave this four stars in its Kindle format, really 4.5. I gave 5 stars to the audio version because it felt more real and alive hearing it. The reasons I withheld the 5th star in the written version were washed away by the audio.
    Fairly enjoyable despite Narrator
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I don't know if I can recommend this book or not. The story wasn't bad I have listened to a lot of books in this vein, and it did a decent job with the "save the Earth by making a big leap in technology premise".

    Great
this was wonderful, and very entertaining, paced nicely, read to perfection a pleasant use of my time .Thank you Mz Axley
    Sizzling Adventure!
A fantastic book! A. W. Exley has given us a story of lavish adventure, exotic locations, harrowing escapes and sensual passionate love. Narrator Gemma Dawson has taken the story to a higher level of enjoyment by giving life to each character with their own individual voice and personality. I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it.
    Racy and Fun!
I'm really enjoying this series. I love the enchanted artifact storyline and the characters are bad-good guys. I also like the writers style and word choice. Occasionally, I feel like the romance between Nate and Cara detracts a bit from the forward momentum of the story line, but, overall, it's been enjoyable listening to their exploits. The performance by Gemma Dawson is also quite good and really keeps you engaged. Can't wait to see what they all get up to in the next book!
    Good Time, Fun Read

    My name is Landon Hamilton.
I'm the only thing keeping the universe in one piece.
I thought fighting angels and demons was a tough gig, but now I'd give anything to go back to the not-that-good, not-so-old days. There's a new game in town, and it's one that's threatening to destroy everything that has ever been created.
Oh, and my friends and I are the only ones who can stop it.
    Game on.
    Members Reviews:
A marvelous continuation of the series
Where does Broken rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
I would rank Broken as the second best audiobook I've listened too, behind only "The Legend of Drizzt: The Collected Stories:. I would actually rank this book ahead of The Legend of Drizzt based on the audio, narrator Jeff Hays pulled out all the stops and this has definately been my favorite book narrated by him.
Which character as performed by Jeff Hays was your favorite?
There were too many characters in this book that I enjoyed to pick just one, but a few of my favorites would be:
    1) The Beast - Jeff's ability to imbue such pure destruction, anger, hate and pettiness into this character was flawless.
    2) Landon - The character has grown and changed so much over the three books that he is almost a different character from when he started. Jeff did a great job bringing that growth and change to life.
    3) Ulnix - The way Ulnix has changed from when we first met him is startling. He was nothing but a ravening beast at first, but his exposure to Landon and Josette has turned him into an almost tragic hero. I can't wait to see what happens to him after this book.
    4) Josette - The journey for Josette in this book is amazing. The scene where Josette proves to Landon just how powerful her faith in god is, is one of my favorites. I actually had a lump in my throat by the end of the scene and I kept wishing it didn't happen the way it did.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I wish I could have just sat down in a room and devoured this book.
    Any additional comments?
This book is by far my favorite of M.R Forbes and also of Jeff Hays. The writing is heads and shoulders above what he had done previously, especially the 2nd book. I did not want the book to end and at least there are still two more books in the series.
Jeff really stepped up his game on this one. I have enjoyed the narration and production that he does for all his books, but this one was in another league. His ability to make me picture the voice of the Beast coming from multiple bodies at the same time, or being able to conjure up what a creature looks like is astounding.
As always his ability to create different voices for different people, including men and women is well done (I almost feel like a broken record saying the same thing on every review).
Bravo to both M.R. Forbes and Jeff Hays.
    And the plot thickens...
So I am currently on the 4th book in the Divine Series, Bound, so needless to say I am already a fan of this series. One of the other reviews noted that the story is a lot of action with little release, and in this one I tend to agree, but this only happens over about 3 or 4 chapters, so its negligible in terms of the book as a whole. I liked #2 a little bit better and I really like #4 which I am currently listening to. So if you liked the series so far, there is no reason to not continue with it.

    Absolutely hated the narration
I've loved this whole series but almost quit listening because of the narration. All the music, sound effects & other unnecessary sounds were distraction & very annoying. I barely finished listening to the whole thing.
the narrator owes me a credit.
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I'm not 4, I don't need sound effects and music in an audiobook.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The narration is so bad that listening to an otherwise great book is hard.
Did Lee Alan do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
NO! He needs to be beaten and never allowed around a recording device again. Why sound effects? Why music? Less is more. Just read the dang book for crying out loud.
Was Holding Their Own VI: Bishop's Song worth the listening time?
I had to speed up the cadence to get past the worst narration in the history of narrators. If my ears could cuss they'd make a sailor blush.
    Any additional comments?
I mean good lawd! Book one was bad narration but I'd rather be donkey kicked in the cherries than listen to this guy again.
Background music and audio ruined it for me
I struggled to finish this one, the narration wasn't quite as good as the others but it was the horrible music and audio track that just killed it for me. I just about returned this one to Audible.
And now for the beating of a dead horse
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yeah, I guess..I listen on my two hours of drive time for work and when I do my dishes. NO, when I have to rewind because someone thinks it is cool to relive the radio shows of old and throw in the sounds of a vehicle. I get it, he is driving. I do not require audible aides for this.
What other book might you compare Holding Their Own VI: Bishop's Song to and why?
nothing compares ... Please do not take that as a good vote.
How could the performance have been better?
where to start..the idea may have been grand when you thought of it, it sucks 102 degree camel butt now
Could you see Holding Their Own VI: Bishop's Song being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
PFFFT! Hail no, all the men in this book sound alike, minus the 19 year old kid in the medical unit.
    Any additional comments?
Brother, you write so well and your storyline is great. Just never pick your presenters, let someone that is not involved pick.
