Well paced and timely thriller

Michael Savage has given us another thriller based on his Jack Hatfield character. The story is timely and believable and the pace of the action keeps the reader engaged. Michael's character development is excellent, making one feel like they could know several of them. Sprinkled with humor and grit, along with humanities best and worst qualities. There are also enough twists to keep the reader guessing. A worthy addition to the series!

For years I have listened to Savage on the radio, my favorite radio episodes are the ones where he tells stories. When I found out that he wrote novels, I had to read/listen. He didn't disappoint me, as I knew he wouldn't.

Kept me guessing, more snark

The newest team member adds some attitude and snark. Not sure the Twixie identity was necessary. Excellent performance, as always. Good mystery. I didn't guess until most of the clues were revealed.

A very light listen.

The Editor should have deleted most of the unnecessary descriptions. "She took her lunch tray to discard in the trash bin"?? The story was fine, but too much cliche to hold my interest. I sped the narration to help me get thru it.

Ms Kane blew by all my investigative skills!

Kane and Huber-10, my suspects-0. It's been a while since a "who dunit"so thoroughly and skillfully eluded me in the "Guess the Guilty Guy" department. I was so lost that in the last 2 chapters of the book, I was still straining to find that last vital clue that would tip the identity of the murderer(s). So I consoled myself with some more Halloween candy and started reviewing where and when did the clever Ms. Kane set the clues. She wove them in amid the high drama and action of a large and vital hospital and I kept the air in my room "blue" while the double dealing and machinations of the hospital politics disturbed me because of the absence of even a hint of honor, fair play, or just plain truth! It made a Sunday morning sleep in impossible because I had to listen to the next chapter NOW! Even my significant other, who always names the bad guy by the sixth chapter, was stumped and couldn't bring himself to leave the book! After the book ended, we had a pretty lively debate about the book, a rarity on weekends designed to be mellow and lazy. I can not say enough good about "Silence"! It was everything wanted in tense, graphic murder novel and Hilary Huber did a terrific job with the narration! She had the book so smoothly unfolding, the listener so mesmerized, it took a few minutes to come back to the present day world.

Pero de manera muuuy aburrida. Me parece aburrido y sin sentido. Habla demasiado de historia y la novela cubre un poco lo demás.

Magnífico libro, muy mala lectora

Es una pena que la señorita que lee el libro no tenga noción de lo que son las pausas y los cambios de voces.

El lector automático del kindle es mucho mejor. Como digo, es una pena porque el libro tiene una historia cautivadora de principio a fin.

Fresh, creative and addictive novel !!!

I enjoyed it from the first to last page every adventure, character and discovery made by main characters. The history is fascinating and the different situations quite entertained.

Amazing Series!!

What did you love best about Contamination: Sanctuary, Book 6?

As with all the books in the Contamination Series, I love the way the book is written and how well the characters are developed. The characters, as well as the story, is amazing.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes! I didn't want to stop listening to the book because I wanted to know what was going to happen!

What does Troy Duran bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

I don't have much time to just sit and read, but the narrator does an amazing job with each character by bringing them to life.

Good story with likable characters

Dan, John, Meredith, and Quinn decide its time to leave the farmhouse to search for safer surroundings. Spotting a helicopter in the distance they believe the military may have a camp near a town called Abbottsville. Off they go to check it out. They pick up another survivor along the way. Little do they know they have invited a dangerous psychotic into their midst named Tim. The tale continues as they move on, discovering and then dealing with Tim. As were the prior volumes, good story with interesting and likable characters.

Good conclusion to the series

This is the latest (possibly the final?) book in the Contamination series, and one that ties up many of the loose ends from the Dan, Quinn, Meredith, and John story arc from previous books. The book could be read in isolation but reading the other stories in the story arc or even the series sets it up for the ending (0-3 and 4 for this story arc).

The book starts off slow with the characters hiding out in a house but it soon starts to heat up when a newcomer joins the group. The adventure sees the group attempting to travel to a nearby town where they believe they can be helped.

The story evolves with plenty of twists and turns from internally within the group, and externally. It's a good change for the series to see the first truly evil character. I quite enjoyed the story of the newcomer, and his background. It brings a new spin on the series. But I must warn you he's not saint but his character is portrayed rather well.

The narrator does a fine job with each of the voices and I will look to more of his books in the future. A good read for the end of a great series.

Great conclusion to series

I really enjoyed Piperbrook's Contamination survival series. The finale was very entertaining and fulfilling. It was filled will a lot of action and suspense like the rest of the series. I am looking forward to reading more of his books in the future.

Simple easy listening

Think the author must have read my review about plot holes because he was very clear about them this time, which was pretty good because I had forgotten about things between the books.

Storyline in this book isn't very complicated with few surprises but enough to be engaging. Pity the stories are so short though.

Great story

Really good story- but you have to keep up with the story for the first half or you will be lost! Loved the narrator! Wish the ending told us a bit more-

Not sure I was going to like it....

When I started this one, I was getting a bit confused with the back and forth, but after the first hour or so, it was coming together. So glad I kept with it, cause it's a great story that keeps u thinking all the way thru. Performance is excellent.

Excellent narration, character voices, plot

I love Immogen Church, she is a masterful narrator. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, excellent writing characterization, plot, twists and double twists.

Terrible!!!!!

The most long-winded let down. I spent half the time fast forwarding and didn't miss a thing. Don't buy! I felt annoyed the entire time. I should have just returned it.

I am not ready to give up on the author.

I am not a fan of books that jump back and forth between characters' points of view, or between time periods. This style of narrating is a true art form. It has its own set of meticulous rules, and if you don't follow them precisely, you may easily end up confusing or simply losing the reader. Very few authors whose books I've read have pulled it of beautifully. We must bear in mind that going back and forth between characters in first person account is not the same than doing it in third person. The previous is much, much harder if you do not want to lose the reader. I think this book could have been a great one if the author had done a little better in this respect. I, personally, lost track of the storyline in the process of understanding all of the characters. I don't think, however, that I'm ready to give up on the author.

Simply a great storyteller

I'll make this easy: I'm a big fan of Gina Nahai, read and loved/enjoyed all her novels. This one has a thousand reviews on Goodreads and a hundred or so on Amazon, and they're all strong-to-glowing, which they should be (not to mention Kirkus, PW, NY Times, etc etc.). So this was great, a wonderful blend of her lyrical storytelling, crime mystery, and terrific social anthropology into a sub-culture of people and place (Persian West Los Angeles, late 20th century). And the one long section set in Tehran 1950's could have been a prize-winning novella on its own: what a fine talent. I've become a big fan of Zadie Smith and Michael Chabon the last ten years, but Gina really scored with Jonah S.

Fascinating characters entwine in Los Angeles

A gorgeous, fascinating, lyrical novel! I love all Nahai's fiction; this one particularly explores the deep and harrowing costs of emigration. The novel's narrator has a strong, ironic voice; the voice of a seasoned observer of human nature. This narrative voice recalls The Brothers Karamzaov's narrator, who shines a dark, ironic light into the most complex events. Nahai understands not only her culture, but the hearts of all humanity.

The plot twists are character-driven--so if you like complex characters to whom drastic, inevitable, and finally wonderful things happen, buy this book! It is a brilliant rendition of how people carry their history on their backs, and how great good can be salvaged even from a dire past. Written with great compassion, this book will lead you to an open-hearted acceptance of what fortune may bring.

Wait for it...

Struggled to get going. The author's descriptiveness a bit much for the rough narrator. But...I'm glad I gave it a chance. Good plot (once it got going), excellent narrator. Looking forward to Guthrie's next book.

There is so much going on in this book that, once I finished it, I felt I had missed something. So I started it again and enjoyed it even more!!

Throw an alien in it next time

The ending came out of nowhere. Not a mention of the group in mention until they appear. They may as well be a bunch of aliens beamed down! And the narrator's hero was obviously the character from "Sling Blade!"

Delirious, Vicious, Fun

I had forgotten how offbeat The Saint is, as well as how ruthless yet fun loving he is. He seems to destroy and kill his opponents almost on a whim. He comes off as bit of a sociopath especially in the third tale. Albeit the scumbag he was going after definitely deserved it, at first however his targeting of the villain seemed a bit random and loony but before long highly justified. Great fun with a hero who isn't afraid to be as nasty as the villains. Greatness!

no I wouldn't. So dated that it isn't even funny. And yet the TV series seems as fresh as ever, shame.

The story was very well told and kept me interested the WHOLE time. I cannot praise the author enough for telling such a heart-wrenching story so well.

This was a well researched and convincing argument that assisted suicide is not always what it seems. This was a great story and as a true-crime fan I absolutely loved it! The facts seem very clear in this story and no matter how you may feel about assited suicide-- this was NOT-- this was clearly murder!

Hours of My Life I Will Never Get Back! Horrible!

Would you try another book from Jon Keehner and/or Charles Ahl?

From Jon Keehner absolutely not. Undeserving of a second chance. The narrator deserves a second chance. For one the title of the book has nothing to do with it's content. Book was full of fillers and did not offer that much toward the case at hand. I'm not sure how this was ever accepted as a book by editor, publishing house, etc., A terminally ill woman's life was ended by her husband. Some say he assisted as it's what she wanted and others say not. Her family and friends may be in denial. No one will ever really know. I just know the book had me bleeding by the ears before it concluded. The book if written for justice was not carried out. The "victim/terminally ill" woman wasn't portrayed to be very likeable and neither was her husband.

What aspect of Charles Ahls performance would you have changed?

Charles Ahl did well as a narrator. I hope he was compensated well for his talent of story telling and not just reading.

Gets better with each book

Not a genre I ever thought I would enjoy American military but his heroes are well written and extremely likeable. Good plots several twists and turns and inevitable red herrings. Can't wait have the next one ready to start.

This is a great book perfect for listening to on my way to and from work. Tense, great story with lots of twists and excitement. I just love John puller, what a character.

Male narrator difficult listening.

Enjoyed this but was overall seriously marred by male narrator's voice, it almost sounded as though he was drunk! particularly as the female was crystal clear.

If the same narrator pops up elsewhere it is unlikely I would purchase the book.
