The author weaves a realistic tail and approach to a 3 way relationship. The internal thoughts and feelings of the characters is brilliantly brought out by narrator. This book is an excellent subway into the next books with a Little of the characters coming through.

Sexy and sensual

Great cast of characters. Amazingly sensual lovemaking. The author has a real talent for dialogue and descriptive writing. Also, while I'm not a sharing kinda guy, this book does a lot to explore the mechanics of polyamorous relationships and the social pitfalls of taboo lifestyles. Well written and engaging, even when the clothes are still on. Probably the most arousing and enjoyable erotic fiction I've downloaded. I'll definitely be coming back for more from Golden Angel.

R. P. James, a master of steamy erotica from about every angle of view â paranormal, alien, lesbian, alpha male, B&D, gay, group orgies, shapeshifters etc etc â takes a different turn with this new story. Opening with a self-evaluation of an unhappily employed man tired of his work and his boss and drenched in rain from a dash to the airport to catch a flight to an appointment that may possible lead to an advancement in his hired position, R.P. proves his flair for eloquent prose. While his writing is always classy in technique, rarely has he shown this degree of sophistication in sharing unspoken thought patterns of a frustrated young man who comes to grips with alternative sexual proclivities.

R.P. certainly knows his way around encounters in the physical sense â this ability to keep ideas fresh and credible is one of his hallmarks. But in this story BUMPED FROM MY FLIGHT he manages to describe a massage experience as well as any writer has ever produced â and then it goes on from there the way many massaged customers fantasize.

Instead of growing tired, R.P. James just gets better with every new story. Hopefully a full-fledged novel will happen soon â all of his many fans are waitingâ..Grady Harp, November 15

Nothing But Sex

These short novellas were just that short and filled with sex. The narrator should find her day job and go back to it or she should take classes in being a narrator. Between the constant sex and the terrible narrator, I did not like these stories at all. I rarely leave bad reviews but this was not my type of story. I have listened to a couple of other R P James books and should have known they would follow in the same vein but I got this book via audiobook boom. This probably could have been better with a different narrator.

All the previous glowing 5 star reviews sum up this intense, riveting and addictive listen very well so all I can add is that i cant wait for more! I've love R.P. James' work . but surely this Duet has got to be her best and most impressive work to-date.

This Duet is deliciously dark, it's smoking h.h.h.hot, it's wickedly intense, it's got shocking twists, it's perfectly paced, it's temptingly twisted, it's got gripping suspense, it's filled with sensational secrets, tantalisingly taboo subjects it's got a sexy Alpha Male whose emotions run deep and Veronica Heart did a fantastic job bringing each pulse-pounding chapter to life. which only adds danger, romance, passion, heartache, character growth and a sweet sweet pleasure..I received this title for free in exchange for an unbiased review.As always this is my honest opinion

Awful Narration

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review - and boy am I glad I didn't spend one of my own credits on it.

The narrator was incredibly INCREDIBLY awful to listen to - she is monotonous yet still can manage to end every sentence with the same tone. Somehow the clip I listened to before requesting the book sounded fine but when actually receiving the book it was near impossible to listen to.

Admittedly I got through one short story and marked as DNF. The story was short, full of sex: appropriately indexed in the Erotica section. I give it a 'meh.'

R.P. James is great at writing sexual encounters. This short story was extremely well put together.

I felt that Veronica Heart wasn't the best pick to narrate the book, but in saying that I was able to complete the book

What about all the consequences that can happen?

I have never read anything from this author prior to signing up for audibles Romance package. But getting a Romance package there are a lot of authors that I would not normally gravitate towards. This is one of those authors. This is a quick 26-minute novella. It is just about a girl who just wants to go home to see her family for spring break that ends up hitchhiking and that ends up having sex with a random stranger. That's basically the story.

The only thing that I kept thinking about was doesn't Dina know that people kill people hitchhiking. Like has she never watch Investigation Discovery, Lifetime, WeTV, or any crime shows. In my mind I kept thinking this was a very very very bad idea of hitchhiking two thousand miles to go see your family. Then the fact that she chooses to have unprotected sex with Ethan,the driver, is just too much for me. Like what if he has a disease or what if she got pregnant. I understand that this is a story and there are no consequences within the story but as a woman and as someone who watches a lot of crime shows all I can see is her mangled disfigured violated body on the side of the road or in the woods somewhere.

For what the story is and it is straight erotica I would give this story a 3 rating. However the consequences and all the bad things that could have happened to her just made me feel as though I don't want to listen to anything so short and to the point again.

I also had the issue about the Exotic. The white guy who never has had sex with a black girl and that is his ultimate fantasy. That is one of my issues that I have with interracial relationships. It doesn't matter if it's in real life or within a book. Guys who only want to be with a black girl because she is a black girl and not for who she is just pisses me off. I know that I'm overanalyzing this story but it just hits on all the major points about being an interracial relationship. All of the negative aspects are brought forth in this 26 minute story. I understand that it is a quick read, however the main reason why Ethan was so interested in Dina because she was black just annoys me to no end.

Quick road trip

Things could have gone a lot differently for Dina...hitchhiking like that. Not that she met the guy of her dreams or a happily ever after. It just seemed a little incomplete for a fan of HEA.

Save your money

Terrible is the only word to describe this.... I wouldn't even call it a book - but I will say "a total waste of time! ". Suggestion to author - find a different passion!

Unfortunately, I lost interest in this story pretty quickly. I had hopes based on the reviews. And 11+ hours is a long time to listen to a story in which I have little interest. But it's definitely not the worst story I've purchased and listened to.

There's Eliza, her mom, Ruby, her dad, Jacob, her friend Julian, the god Faroust, and her ?, Cornelius. All of them are in or connected with fae royalty. All of the characters were ok except Eliza. I didn't like Eliza. She was cold, manipulative, deceitful, and petulant regardless of her justified reason for feeling unwanted and ignored. The author failed to make her a sympathetic character. I was hoping this would change over the 11 hours, but it didn't. The story also failed to be sexy AT ALL. There was sex in it, not gratuitous, but more than 2, I think. Most of them were not highly detailed, and none were drawn out or used explicit words beyond f**k and, maybe, cock. Part of the lack of sexiness or sensuality was the narrator. The narrator did ok. But she sounded too childish during the sex scenes and cursing, so it came across, again, as just petulance. Additionally, I didn't like much of the dialogue. There was nothing that created or held my interest. It was all simplistic. Even the bit of unexpected shift in the story to a bit of a mystery didn't help. I was pleased about the shift, initially, thinking that the story might, then, improve. But it was all for nothing. Along with the simplistic nature is its not flowing naturally. It's not that there were coincidences or manufactured plot points to move the story unnaturally, but the movement of the story did leave me wondering, at times, how the story moved from one point to another. The story shifts were not smooth. Finally, the plot point to have a god who doesn't know when someone is lying to him was the last straw to me. Most of the story flowed from that construction. But that type of god just didn't make any sense to me. He could do almost everything else but not that. Really?! That seems basic god-level stuff. But maybe that's just me.

What a tale!

It was a very good read. Even better than the first book as we got to see more of all the characters and how they developed their relationships. It was also gun to see how Elliot (Sir) evolved from a dominant master to a caring lover. All in all. I really enjoyed it. The narration was also really professional and made the story so real. Great book all round. Hopefully the author decides to add a third book.

The PERFECT Sequel!

Would you consider the audio edition of Darkness Illuminated to be better than the print version?

I prefer audiobooks to written books because I can listen while I'm doing housework! Although, I must say that I didn't get very much housework done while listening to this. It was so gripping I had to keep sitting down to take it all in. There is so much heat and DRAMA in this sequel. I enjoyed every minute of it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character is Francois. He's the calm and steady one who really offsets the erratic behavior of Alex and Sir. He just seems like a big teddy bear who wants the best for the couple. In a way, I think of him in almost the same position as the reader.

I also cannot get enough of Sir/Elliott... Even when he's being difficult and mean, something about him is just irresistible. He has this loving heart but he's damaged... I love each time we learn more about him and his past... and I can definitely see why Alex loves him so much.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed, I cried, I got angry, I felt joyous... you name it! It's such a gripping book, you can really get swept away with the mood of it all. Such a different take on erotic fiction... there are plenty of sexy moments, don't get me wrong, but there's also a lot of content. Alice Wright is an intelligent writer who seems to always strike the perfect balance between fantasy and reality.

This is really a superb sequel to Her Secret Submission. Thrilling, suspenseful, hot and heavy! And the ending... WOW!

I enjoyed this one even more than the first book and really cannot wait to get into the next instalment.

Very surprising! I have to admit i kinda thought i might guess what happened in the second book in this fantastic series but even i was shocked. A few twists and turns I was NOT expecting. Such a great series. SO many crap 50 shades of grey rip offs out there. But this one is different.

The doctor has multiple translations in this book, plus a bonus book.

I hope the other translations are more readable as there are many misspellings and typos. I understand the pains of editing after the word processor has chosen it's spelling or picked the wrong word to use. But some of the attempts to use slang or trite phrases is lost when misapplied, and that is only the writer/editor. A few errors are understandable, but when most paragraphs have at least one, even good stories loose interest as it becomes to hard to understand the intent. Good story concepts, but the one with Uri felt modified from a different story without fixing all of the references and anachronisms.

Good afternoon pleasure.

A very hot and sweet romance - straight out of the wildest daydreams. Like a pleasurable quickie. But it leaves you craving for more, due to the brief nature of the book. This would be a good, satisfying afternoon's read, though I would enjoy a bit longer story for some hot evenings ;) Though, I got to give points for including the same story in virtually every language in the book. This is why I've decided to give the book 4 stars instead of 3.

Interesting book with different translations

This is a new kind of genre for me to try and I have never tried reading gay romance before and this one was such a surprise. I really like the book and its storyline. It's also nice of the author to put the English version first. It had a good plot and the characters made interesting and romantic decisions that made me feel like a little girl. I do recommend this book for enthusiastic romantic readers out there. However I don't understand why the format had too big letters or font but it's a nice addition to translate it in different languages which is probably the only improvement I hope the author makes next time.

It's an easy and intriguing read. I am straight but curious, so I wanted to have a little insight into a gay relationship, besides, the book was free, so I tried it. It's HOT, that's for sure. Like I said, I'm straight, and it made my heart race at times. It's a bit slow but in a nice teasing way. By the way, the story is written in a bunch of different languages, that's cool! The only little thing, though, the TOC should be tweaked a little, the navigation was a bit hard. I read the English parts, though, and got horny, haha! What else do you need? :)
