Good story and very good narrating. The story took many twists and kept me guessing.

The story had so many unexpected twists. Lots of bad people and yet the good people won. I liked how the story was completed. Wrapping up all loose ends.

Nice tense action, good story line & plot. She definitely understands the abused relationship. Heard better but heard waay worse! Would still Recommend.

This is only my second book I've listened to by Lynette Eason and I'm addicted. I love that she has series as well!

Good Story Good Narration!

This was a good story. I really enjoyed it. The hero was awesome, tall, sexy and handsome. I thought this being a Mobster type of book it was going to be more violent and full of erotica sex. It was not! It was well written not gory or erotica sex. There is sex but it is well written sex.

I liked the heroine as well. She was a strong character. Only one stupid decision made by her. But of course there always has to be at least one, which I am okay with. Its when there are many many TSTL moments.

I liked the story line and plot. There is lots of dialogue throughout the entire book. (I love lots of dialogue)

As for the narrator he did a very very good job. Everyone had their own distinct voice including the accents, and he did a very good job on the female characters. I will listen to him again for sure. (Well actually I am, because I just got the second book in the series)

I have to say this book and the next are fantastic deals if you are a KU subscriber. Both are free read free listen. Yes totally worth it!

REALLY LIKED BUT JUST DIDN'T LOVE THIS BOOK !!

I really liked the book, however, it was difficult to love it. In my opinion it could have been more detailed especially for being the first book in what appears to be a long series given the amount of sub-main characters involved, even if it had to be quite a bit longer than is comfortable for most listeners.

I thought the voices for the men were excellent, especially Gabriel's voice and the variety of accents; however, Eva's voice was less than stellar and Nico's voice while much better than Eva's was still lacking. (Practice makes perfect I guess).

I thought the ending was great and I liked that it was not a cliffhanger but did leave the door open for other characters' stories, i.e. Vincent.

Avoid if suffering from depression!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

In the beginning it held me in suspense wondering where it was headed..(a lot of flashbacks without full explanations) cold, clinical, no warmth by the end it was a fizzle for me with not much of a twist. I was expecting more depth to the characters & an emotional bond to them, I didn't feel it.. Without trying not to give anything away, my heading states it all! If you're looking for an emotional love story there wasn't one for me. It is not a dark book, just depressing!

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Would not have given it such a depressing ending!

What does Simone Lewis bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

Simone although didn't differentiate from male to female, as the female part could not fault her & was able to get through the book thanks to Simone's narration!

Jesus Christ. This was a very well thought out and thorough novel. The writing is out of this world amazing. I have to say, if you are looking for something that is optimistic and makes you feel good, look the other way. Well, I guess it could be considered optimistic, but in a really morbid way.. This book is so honest and raw it will tear your heart out. Then whack it against the wall a few times. I feel a little traumatized.. But in the best possible way. ;)

The narrator was great as usual. She effortlessly brings the story to life.

I loved this book!

This book is twisted from the very beginning. I loved it and found myself glued to my chair listening to it.

Cenna doesn't let anyone close to her. Christmas is the worst time of year for her as everything bad happens on Christmas. Now Cenna and a Doctor she has becomes friends with have been kidnapped.

This is my very first read by the author, Taryn Fisher. I enjoyed this book so much and found the plot to be very original. It is sick, twisted and it held me captive too. I just couldn't walk away from this book! The narrator, Simone Lewis is fantastic also. I loved the accents and multiple voices she used, along with the emotions in the narration!

Trying

I am half way through and trying to stick with this. Very hard though. The lead female character is putting me into a deep depression. It's just not going anywhere.

I was mostly intrigued by the story line. Overall though I disliked the character. She wasn't realistic in my mind and her inner monologue kind of drove me nuts.

Pretty Good

As always, there is lot going on in this book and Carlotta puts herself in the middle. She is still bouncing in between men and trying to help her brother Wes. Although Carlotta's life is messy, the mystery still remains the main focus and is well written. I will probably read the next book.

Maureen jones is the WORST narrator

This narrator cannot even pronounce the word garage. She also makes the character peter sound like he's got a stick up his behind and a total dork. Jacks voice sounds female and there are several other words she couldn't pronounce properly but the main one being in garage

I loved this book! First time reading one of her older books. I will be reading more of them.

I wish I had listened to Sunset Embrace first

This book is the second in the series and I wish I had listened to the first one first. I am concerned that I heard all of the "spoilers" when I listened to this one.

But I like the characters. Banner is a princess at first, but she grows as life happens to her. Jake is an enigma at first, but he turns out to have considerably more substance to him than his drifter lifestyle would indicate.

The story could have moved a little faster, but regardless, it entertained for the duration.

Love Sandra Brown and even her older works are very entertaining. Great for long road trips or a rainy day at home

Respectfully disagree with the other reviewers

I feel pretty deceived by the other reviewers here. By all accounts, I really should have liked this book. As a gal who likes a book with a strong female protagonist seeking to solve a horrible murder- this one seemed like it was right up my alley. To be fair, the premise of the story was interesting enough to keep my attention until the end. But in all honesty, the sum of the books flaws just completely ruined this one for me.

My biggest issue was with the characters. In the world the author created, there is not one male person with even a few sympathetic features. In fact, each and every man in this book, on one level or another, harbors rape fantasies and/or abusive tendencies toward the women around them. Even the main love interest! I actually started Mama-bear lecturing the book out loud when Anne began to get all heart-a-fluttery for a man who 1. drinks and has anger management issues 2. her internal dialogue is constantly stuck on how afraid she is of this man and 3.- HE BROKE INTO HER HOUSE AND THREATENED HER WITH A WEAPON. And this is the guy who is supposed to be our co-star hero? Does the author not know what good men look like? This is a terrifying (and not terribly realistic) world shes created where every male is out to get the heroine.

My second grumble I have with this book is that there is no clever detective work involved. Our main character doesnt solve the mystery, even though the culprit is pretty obvious and staring everyone in the face- theyre dismissed early on in the story. The plot conclusion sort of stumbles into itself with the two main characters having had nothing to do with the solution of the crime. I admit that this second complaint will be completely up to the readers tastes, but when I read a murder mystery, I like for my main character to have some ability in solving crimes.

Exciting Mystery

A Thin Dark Line revealed to the listener just how difficult it can be to find enough evidence to convict a suspect. There were many character's who appeared to be the murderer of Pam Boussard.

The actions of so many made the listener quite sure that person was the killer. However, another character made the listener think, no, he's not the one. Therefore, maybe Marcus Raynard, the man who was believed by most of the people in the small town, including the police, actually did commit the murder. He had a trial but due to lack of evidence, Marcus was a free man again.

Not a terrible book. It's main problem is that it is dated. The revenge plots could have only worked in the 1970s and in today's information age, it is no wonder that readers not familiar with the 70s find them convoluted and improbable. Poor narration doesn't help the story either. Finally, there is a great plot twist at the end of the book but the author chooses to do absolutely nothing with it. On the plus side, the book did fill some time but that is about as enthusiastic as I can get.

Convoluted schemes and name brand dropping

I like revenge stories and had particularly enjoyed Archer's A Prisoner of Birth, but this was very disappointing. So much of it was just name brand dropping in a way that had little or nothing to do with the plot. Some of the Amazon reviews said that the plot was "unbelievable" or "too coincidental" but I expected that, since typically a revenge novel is meant to be a bit over the top. However, nobody hit on the right description: "unnecessarily convoluted;" full of complicated schemes that would make sense in a caper movie but not when you are listening to them, particularly because of the great deal of padding. Not completely awful, some fun parts, but you might want a hard copy for a skim- through beach read instead of an audible version.

Fantastic story

I can see why he is so well regarded. My second book by the author and it was a joy to read. The character descriptions are always great, something that Archer excels at. Pace great. Just long enough.

Tripe

Looking for a popular author, I thought it time to try Jeffrey Archer. I realise this was his first novel and I'm sure his writing skills improved with experience, but I have to say I could this banal and pretentious. I was happy to drift a long with the plot until I realised that the actions of the protagonists began to tell me more about the character of the author than the quality of the writing. I could go on, but I don't want to add any spoilers. I won't be reading or listening to any more novels by this author. No problems with the narrator - can't blame the cast for a terrible script.

Horrifying

This is the most terrifying of the books I've read by Blake crouch. I don't want to read another one like this again.

Well written but... yuck!

Where does Thicker Than Blood rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

I will compare this book to the other Blake Crouch books I've listened to (Abandon, Run, Snowbound and the Wayward Pines books). I loved all of these books. I think Mr. Crouch is a creative and extremely skilled writer. The previous books were very dark, but there was a little redemption at the end. Thicker Than Blood was not as creative and a little too dark for my taste.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I liked the suspense of the story. Mr. Crouch created so much tension that I had to listen to the end. I did not like any of the characters very much. Also, there were some loose ends. A character hides the dates on a calendar. A striking bully is created in someone's life and goes nowhere. The antagonist is described as having been "recruited to murder" by one character and then turns out to have murderous parents.

What about Eric G. Doves performance did you like?

Mr. Dove did an excellent job building suspense in the story.

2 Creepy, Killer Brothers Make for Great Suspense

Remember the two creepy villians in the Bond movie Diamonds Are Forever? Well the bad guys here aren't Mr Wint and Mr Kidd, they are the handsome, blond haired, blue eyed Blackwood brothers, but they are every bit as creepy, resourceful and deadly. Like the Bond movie, they carry on polite conversation with each other, in front of their victims, even while inflicting great pain. Certainly Koryta used the Bond villains as his inspiration, and it works exceptionally well.

Since I started with the bad guys, it's important to note they wouldn't be near as creepy and terrifying without the superb reading of Robert Petkoff. His performance is nothing short of magnificent.

Another aspect that makes this novel so interesting is the woodsmanship and wilderness training explained through the Mai character and hero, Ethan Serbin.

This is a fast, suspenseful read!

Those Who Wish Me Dead - Wish it was Longer

What did you love best about Those Who Wish Me Dead?

This was a really good fast paced adventure packed story. I would have like if it were a little longer. Characters were pretty fleshed out, enough for the story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I think I liked Hannah the best. Her story came out little by little through out the book.

THERE SHOULD BE MORE THAN 5 STARS FOR THIS 1

This is by far the best book I have read all year, maybe longer. And I can't say enough about Colin Mace. What a pleasure to listen to. This is one of those books that when you finish you have to digest. You can't go into your library and start another one right up.

Some one else's review made mention of no real gore or vulgarity, they were correct. The crime scenes were so well written you didn't the gore.

There was a point when I 'figured out' at least part mystery/crime but then you think you have the whole story and wham there is a twist I did not see coming.

Love the father/daughter/dog relationship. It's heartwarming.

And Colin Mace - WOW not sure I have listened to him before but I would seek out others that he has read. The different accents were wonderful, transition flawless, and just his voice-perfect.

I hope this becomes a series!!!

Great Start to a new Trilogy

After finishing this audio book, I checked out this author and found out this is the start of a trilogy. My first thought was -- "only 2 more books with Max Wolfe!" I can honestly say I will be grieving halfway through the 3rd book if this character's story ends. I imagine by that time Tony Parsons will be selling lots of books and his editor will be thinking up ways to continue the story with DC Wolfe, his young daughter and their dog.

I don't know this author but he must have a strong writing background. I particularly loved how there were violent, heart-beating scenes, but no goriness. The author's knowledge of police procedure and his strong plotting of the story was a delight to me. I didn't want to stop listening as I drove closer to my home. I thought up errands in order to continue my drive and the listen. Colin Mace is a wonderful narrator -- top notch!

Even if you think you have it figured out, you will still want to hear every word. Especially since a twist is awaiting you in the end. Loved it!
