    Good Series
Not my favorite book in this series. I stuggled to get through it but a nice wrap up at the end.
    Once Again Loved It
I can't quite get excited about what might've the next book to follow. That's assuming there is one. But sure enjoyed all of these Sisterhood books. I keep trying to convince friends to read or listen to them.
    another good storytelling
Once again a good story and an easy listen looking forward to the next instalment of tone ongoing sisterhood story
    brilliant
I love that this book was left open for more in the series. Characters are a hoot!
    Another interesting, frustrating sisterhood story.
Somewhat confusing chapter in the sisterhood chronicles...many moments of "what the??" In my opinion...for instance, Yoko is supposed to be 33, but her father - 3-time Oscar winning actor and sex slavery businessman Michael Lyons is supposedly 50...so he was 17 when he fathered her and was already running a lucrative sex slavery ring at the time? And crazy gluing him and the other men in the sex slavery ring was enough punishment, but last installment, Alexis had to tattoo her name in the offenders faces? Doesn't exactly seem fair to me...finally, I'm hoping this is the last we see of those two annoying Washington Post reporters...I get the Sisterhood vigilantes need antagonists in the story buy holy cow were those toe getting to be annoying as all heck! And like we were really supposed to believe they would have come back to D.C.? Regardless, I can't complain too much or else I'd be a hypocrite, because I always come back for more in this series so bottom line is as always, a very entertaining guilty pleasure of a series....

    Good Read
I have just discovered Diane Mott Davidson and I find her books very entertaining. I also like the Narrator and followed her through the Nevada Barr series.
    Great characters and recipes.
Touching, twisting, turning, and tantalizing as the mysteries unravel with small town gossip that simmers as much as the cooking through out the story! Barbra Rosenblat narration makes you feel wrapped in the world of Goldie Bear and participating not just listening.
    Great story!
Another triumph, well done! I can't wait to listen to the next! Great Listen :-)
    Love this Series
    Any additional comments?
This series so far has held my attention. I love Goldie and her approach to life and look forward to future readings of her books.
Great to listen to in the car!
If you could sum up The Last Suppers in three words, what would they be?
Very good listen, really enjoyed the characters and story. Don't read expecting it to be realistic but fun.

    Trite Bodice Ripper
I purchased this book because I love dogs and thrillers. It is _not_ a thriller but a poorly written romance novel with the two main characters panting after each other within a sketchy thriller-type setting.
The characters are predictable. The strong but vulnerable woman and the handsome tough guy with a heart of gold falling for a woman for the first time.
There are many repetitive phrases; "he twisted his lips" is a favorite, whatever that means. Also "if he touches me I will [burst into flames] [melt]" etc.; pick one.
If you like panting romances you might like this book but if you are looking for a thriller give this one a pass.
    Mediocre w/Bad Narration
I have read or listened to many, if not most of Iris Johansen's books, but I just can't finish this one. I am about half way through and have decided to move on to another book. I may or may not return to this one later. I have never left any of her other works unfinished.
This is the most mediocre of her books. These characters feel like bad copies of her other characters. On a very basic level, many of her books can be summed up as: "Strong, independent woman meets mysterious strong man. Woman resists the desire to give into animalistic urges. Man tells her he must have her. Mystery solved, bad guy dead, happily ever after." Usually, her storytelling is enjoyable enough to make this pattern a non-issue. Not so with this book (at least up to the point that I called it quits).
The narrator makes it almost painful to listen to. We have all stumbled upon the odd book where the author narrates the audio version and really shouldn't have. This is a tiny bit better than that. Jennifer Van Dyke does a great job with narrating many of Iris Johansen's other books, I wish she had done this one. I might have finished it.
Hope others like this more than I did...consider yourself warned though.
Enjoyable escape through the spoken word.
Being a dog lover and thoroughly enjoying a story with engaging characters and a story that pulls my imagination along with every scene, every question, and every revelation, I must say I very much enjoyed this story. A delightful vacation for my mind. At the end of the book I was smiling, happy and hoping Iris Johansen had written more books like this one.
Maybe a good romance novel - maybe
Very disappointing. Not a believable plot, nor believable situations. Save your money, unless you like sappy romance novels.
    Enjoyable with dogs
Entertaining with some good plot twists, although in a few places I rolled my eyes.

    Publisher's Summary:
Fifteen years ago, a teenage girl found an ancient gold medallion on a small island off the Florida gulf coast. Soon she was having nightmares and later was found hanging from a tree. Although the death was ruled a suicide, the girl's mother, Della, is now sure there was foul play. Her trailer has been vandalized, and her daughter's coffin raided. When Della comes to Doc for help, the mysterious gold medallion plunges the Florida marine biologist into a perilous search for answers.
Filled with suspense and highly charged atmosphere, Ten Thousand Islands received rave reviews from critics. Ron McLarty's dramatic narration highlights its gripping mixture of ancient ritual and modern evil.
    Critic Reviews:
"One of the most satisfying thrillers in recent memory." (Chicago Tribune)

How not to leave a boat.
I love to fish and have enjoyed the Doc Ford stuff, this story has a GREAT ending. Life sucks when you get sea sick. A little slow at the start but, the payoff, at the end, for me was well worth it.
    Twists and Turns
If you could sum up Ten Thousand Islands in three words, what would they be?
    Intrigue, Suspense, Unexpected
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
The unusual twists and turns of the story, I never could second guess the author.
    Any additional comments?
The descriptions of the Florida terrain and the mystique of the 1000 islands kept my interest and curiosity going strong. The history of the area and the Indians was fascinating. I was completely surprised at the end to hear the author describe the actual case from which he took so much for his story. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a story with a different twist.
Intriguing subject matter, written from the "inside out."
Excellent story, perfectly orchestrated. I wish the narrator knew how to say some of the place names like we Floridians say them. It's a little jarring to hear them wrongly inflected. Otherwise, he did a great job.
One of my early on favorites
If you could sum up Ten Thousand Islands in three words, what would they be?
    Fast paced, interesting.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Ten Thousand Islands?
When the person told Doc Ford what he had seen on the Island.
What about Ron McLartys performance did you like?
I have said before I always feel like Doc Ford himself is telling me a story
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes and I think it was pretty much a 2-3 day listen.
    Any additional comments?
We have a lot on a little Island off of Marco, and I could swear it was the island in the book.
Awesome, like the TV show The Finder, but better
I love this book, I really do. It's like a better, more substantial version of the tv show The Finder. (Its a spin-off from the show Bones) Seriously, listen and enjoy. I'm pretty sure if I find this book in paperback, I'll buy it and actually read it with my eyeballs.

    He's no Ludlum!
On top of the disjointed storyline and too many boring, stereotypical characters, the writing is just atrocious! The metaphors rival those of an aspiring junior high writer. I've enjoyed the Bourne stories because they are based on a sensational premise but are/were so well written and well thought out that they were believable. This book requires way too much suspension of disbelief...there's actually a part where the writer can't really explain how the handy cross bows got to the right place at the right time. And the twists and turns are just absurd!! Don't waste your time or money.
    Couldn't wait till it ended
I didn't think this book would ever end. There was nothing to figure out, all the plot was revealed during conversations often with random people met totally by chance. Bourne was stupid and didn't out flank anyone in this one, just sailed along as people told him stuff. The Americans only worried about their careers fighting between agencies and didn't even know there was a terrorist attack planned. Bourne bounced around working for first one group then another, sometimes two at a time? People trying to kill him for no reason except thier own careers. One agency hires random people off the street with no training? Don't waste your money or time.
Mr. Lustbader, you are not a Robert Ludlum
With over 100 audiobooks under my belt (not including many, many books on tape, this has to be the worst. It is awful, slow and tedious. I finished it (I must like pain) but deleted it from my iPod and library. The book started fine, died after 10 minutes, and ended with a climax-less close. Zzzzzzz
    Awful
I've been an Audible subscriber for almost 8 years and I swear this is the worst audio book I've ever listened to.
Boring writing style, characters that are hard to care about, and a story line that's...well...a "long" stretch.
Sorry, Robert Ludlum, but this is not the kind of tripe you would have lent your name to had you still been alive.
    the bourne saction
if i were ludlum, i would be ashamed to have my name associated with this imitation, cliche ridden story line. at times like this i wish i could get my money back.

    Publisher's Summary:
The name ignited a light in Carl's mind. Saint. He'd been covertly recruited for Black Ops and given his life to the most brutal kind of training any man or woman could endure. He was here because he belonged here. To the X Group.
He's an assassin. The most effective killer in the world. And yet...Carl Strople struggles to retain fleeting memories that betray an even more ominous reality. He's been told part of the truth - but not all of it.
Invasive techniques have stripped him of his identity and made him someone new - for this, he is grateful. But there are some things they can't take from him: the love of a woman, unbroken loyalties to his past, the need for survival.
From the deep woods of Hungary to the streets of New York, Saint takes you on a journey of betrayal in a world of government cover-ups, political intrigue, and one man's search for the truth. In the end, that truth will be his undoing.

    One of the best ever
Amazing characters and a memorable story. A continuation of another story arch, so be sure to watch out for the other books. Awesome! I can't wait to read the others.
    Great as always
Great as always. My only negative comment would be that it seemed like the volume levels changed a couple of times and about in the middle of the book we thought the narrator changed, which caused a bit of distraction.
    Great audio book
Great narrator, does an amazing job with different voices. I haven't read anything that Ted Decker has written that I have not enjoyed !
    Grave disappointment!
I am generally fascinated with Dekker, but this book was not only unbelieveable, but completely boring. I unfortunately wasted a credit. Bummer
Not like the other Books of History books....
I bought this after reading the Circle Series by Ted Dekker and starting the Lost Books, also by Ted Dekker. Although Saint is the best of the Saint, Sinner and Showdown trilogy (SSS trilogy, a phrase I made up), it was hard to get into. The storyline was a lot darker than Dekker's previous books. I only finished the SSS trilogy of books because I wanted to have a better grasp of the universe Dekker created, and for only that reason, I would recommend Saint as well as Showdown and Sinner.
Also, I would suggest starting with other Dekker books such as the first 3 books of the Circle Series - Black, Red and White -, before reading the SSS trilogy as you would gain a better understanding of Dekker and his style. I would also suggest reading Green after the SSS trilogy because some of the characters from this trilogy appear in Green.

    Listen Well
This story is brilliant, and subtle. It's a real treat! It's even worth re-listening to, because you will certainly miss some fantastical points the first time through. If you've listened to Sherlock Holmes stories before, don't let yourself get lulled into the familiar patterns of speech and characters -- keep sharp! You'll be glad you paid attention! If imitation is the highest form of flattery, Gaiman pays great homage to two amazing authors, and leaves his own patent mark, too. Buy it! You won't regret it!
    come again?
What a nice retelling of a classic: comfortable yet unnerving. It's like putting an old pair of slippers and noticing how warm and fuzzy they are still and then noticing that you just put your feet in 2 spider nests...
    brilliant!
Ready to start it over again
My love of Holmes and my growing admiration for Gaiman led me to choose this fantastic short story. I must confess to being at a slight disadvantage in my appreciation of the tale because I am not familiar with Lovecraft's writings, being only an occasional visitor to the sci-fi genre. However, I was delighted at both the story and (as always) Gaiman's performance, and my first instinct as it ended was to start it right back at the beginning, because I am certain I missed some details the first time through. Loved the "advertisements" at the beginning of the chapters, although I suspect my ignorance of Lovecraft obscured the meaning of some of them.
And with strange aeons even death may die..
This story is great. The homage to H.P. Lovecraft and Arthur Conan Doyle is wonderfully done.
Its amazing how the story draws you in and, at a point, has you siding with the ancient evil that has taken hold of the world. The surprising identity of the main character flips your entire perspective of the story as you realize who the "bad guys" really are. The story is masterfully crafted, but this twist sealed the deal for me. It instantly became one of my all time favorite short stories.
All throughout, you'll catch tid-bits of the Cthulhu tainted world the characters live in. The "commercials" at the beginning of each chapter are funny and horrific.
The fact that this audiobook is free blows my mind... Not that I'm complaining, but its better than ones I've paid for.
I'd say, "keep up the good work, Neil Gaiman..." but I don't think its necessary, since every thing he puts imagination to is amazing. Anybody who can turn the Swampthing comic into a literary work of art is clearly gifted.
"But are not the dreams of poets and the tales of travellers notoriously false?" --H.P. Lovecraft
Gaiman pays tribute to Sherlock and Lovecraft
A Study in Emerald is a Hugo and Locus Award winning short story by Neil Gaiman in which he pays tribute to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle???s Sherlock Holmes and H.P.

Best Plot-Driven Novel I've Ever Read
The Eight was Katherine Neville's debut novel and was published in 1988. She's never come close to the magic of this book since, but most writers never hit this level of amazing story telling after many years so even 25 years after its debut, I am still in awe of The Eight and Neville's ability to write it. I read the book when it first came out and fell in love with it. Several years later I re-read it and was stunned all over again. I have had the same reaction to The Eight each of the 4 times I read it. Yet, I have hesitated to get it on audio - I didn't want one of my favorite books ruined by a bad narrator. However, I finally broke down and got the audiobook and I'm so glad I did; Susan Denaker does a fine job with narration.
Some folks have compared Neville's writing to Dan Brown, but with all respect to Brown (I loved the Da Vinci Code) I think Neville's writing is far more sophisticated and this reads more like Umberto Eco. Some reviewers have said that the plot is complex, but I think intricate would be a more precise word for it. Neville weaves into her mystery about the Montglane Service (Charlemagne's chess set) myths and legends from Europe, Russia, Northern Africa, and the Middle East and history, philosophy, and science from the 8th century forward and she uses music, astronomy, dance, and chess moves as clues in the puzzle. The Eight does require some attention (its not a "background" kind of book), but the plot unfolds logically and for all its intricacy it is not difficult to follow. You don't have to play chess (I don't) to follow the story, but chess players may have a special appreciation for some of the plot twists.
If I could really review this totally without bias, I might take off a bit for some lack of character development, a couple of awkward shifts in POV, and kind of a lame romance (doesn't factor much in the book, thank goodness), but the plot is just so great, I can't be unbiased. I love The Eight as a book and I love The Eight as an audiobook. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a mystery or just an amazing plot-driven story.
Finally I have waited for years
I have read this book twice and I don't read books over. It is one of the best books. The tension that is built over the story is amazing. It's just an amazing book. I can't say enough.
    impressive on every level
This book has been a blast! There is mystical intrigue, historical perspective, scientific application and modern day issues all combined in an entertaining, coherent story.

    Excellent.
If you are reading this book you must already have read the previous three and know they are good. This is a little of a spin off from the games because it has new characters but excellent all the same. My favorite so far is Night Games and Predatory Games.
    Supper Good !!
    Any additional comments?
Conspiracy Game is the 4th book in the GhostWalker series and although it can be read as a stand alone story in terms of Jack and Briony as a couple I would strongly recommend reading the story in order to get the full enjoyment of the back story of the GhostWalkers. This is a series that I'm really enjoying and I'd highly recommend it to all fans of supernatural romance.
Although I've loved all of the GhostWalker heroes Jack quickly became my favorite - he is one sexy alpha male! He is a man who keeps himself to himself, someone that even the other GhostWalkers are wary of and the only person he is close to is his twin Ken. There is a darkness inside him because of things he saw and did in his past but he is also has a soft centre and is very caring. He is frightened of his feelings for Briony and doesn't feel that he is good enough for her but when she turns to him for help he will do anything to protect her and keep her safe.
Briony is the perfect heroine for him - she has grown up with 4 protective brothers and knows how to deal with a domineering alpha male. While she lets him get away with a lot she is definitely able to stand up for herself when she needs to. I really enjoyed the chemistry between her & Jack and also loved watching them both with Ken - I can't wait to read his story which is the next book in the series! The ongoing story with the GhostWalkers and the evil genius Dr Whitney is getting really interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing how things play out in the rest of the series. It is quite clear that Dr Whitney has been doing some major plotting and I'm not sure what the consequences will be for Lily and the others.
    Best Book!!

Now, two powerful men have set their best operatives loose in pursuit, and the hunt has begun once more....
Life is good for Atlanta judge Rachel Cutler. She loves her job, loves her kids, and remains civil to her ex-husband, Paul. But everything changes when her father, a man who survived the horrors of World War II, dies under strange circumstances and leaves behind clues to a secret he kept his entire life...a secret about something called the Amber Room.
Desperate to know the truth about her father's suspicious dealings, Rachel takes off for Germany, with Paul close behind. Shortly after arriving, they find themselves involved with a cast of shadowy characters who all claim to share their quest. But as they learn more about the history of the treasure they seek, Rachel and Paul realize they're in way over their heads. Locked in a treacherous game with ruthless professional killers and embroiled in a treasure hunt of epic proportions, Rachel and Paul suddenly find themselves on a collision course with the forces of power, evil, and history itself.
A brilliant adventure and a scintillating tale of intrigue, deception, art, and murder, The Amber Room is a classic tale of suspense and the debut of a strong new voice in the international thriller genre.
    Critic Reviews:
"Plotted cleverly and written with style and substance. A welcome change from the usual legal-thriller fare from wanna-be Turows." (Booklist)
"Sexy, illuminating, and confident. The Amber Room is my kind of thriller: a globe-trotting treasure hunt packed with exotic locales, sumptuous art, and ruthless villains. Steve Berry writes with the self-assured style of a veteran." (Dan Brown, author of The Da Vinci Code)

    Where's the editor?
I usually listen to audiobooks uncritically; however, this one is so flawed that it fairly yells out for help.
Let me just get this out of the way: many writers have tics, but Berry's is so irritating that it makes ME want to yell out for help. "What had Monica said..." "What was it Churchill said ..." "What had Hitler said ..." Well, good grief, why ask me? Just get on with it and stop asking these posturing questions!
Berry displays such a lack of knowledge of idiomatic and grammatical usage that I want to yank him by the ear and drag him straight to Freshman Composition class. Ever hear of dangling modifiers, Mr. Berry? What was it Strunk and White said ...?
A writer with this many books under his belt should have an editor who knows more about usage than the writer.
What I want to know is, who was the editor of this book? The family dog?
The book has an intriguing premise, but the writing is simply shoddy. The only interesting character is the one who shouts expletives every second or third word. I sympathize with him.
