Heaven Help Us

Hell or High Water, by author Hailey Edwards, is the third and final installment in the Gemini trilogy. Hell or High Water begins right where Head Above Water left off. Camille Ellisâ search for changeling Harlow Bevans and diabolical killer Charybdis continues. There are some important developments. First, her aunt Dot and cousin Isaac have gone missing. The presumption is that they have been taken by Charybdis drives Cam to pursue every angle and possibility, which leads her to some interesting twists.

Cam doesn't have many allies after being suspended by the Earth Conclave for her actions in the first installment. But, what she does have is a Warg pact called Lorimar, a new mate in Cord Graeson, and friends like Dell Preston who stick with her like glue. The pack dynamics is hard for someone who was born Fae to understand. Yet, Cam isn't afraid of learning as she goes, and making an effort to be part of something that could have major implications for her own future.

Cam finally learns secrets that her family and the conclave have been keeping from her for years. Secrets that perhaps should have been revealed a whole lot sooner. I'm not a fan of parents who intentionally abandon their own children after something bad happens. Regret leads to resolution and even more shocking news. Not a fan of the Conclave either. Especially not after Cam gave her all to them for years, and got nothing in return. She also learns why she was targeted by Charybdis, the Fae serial killer she's been chasing throughout the series.

This story isn't all that long at 246 pages. But it is action packed. While Cam is hunting for Harlow and Charybdis, he is jumping from person to person, and sending shock waves through everyone that Cam has ever known. Including her own parents who she hasn't seen in a long while. We also get our first introduction to Cam's cousin Theo. Theo and Cam have a long history of animosity, and Isaac's disappearance doesn't exactly calm Theo down. One of the things that has impressed me about this trilogy is Cam's growth. As a Gemini, Cam's powers have grown exponentially since we first met her. She can now hold her own, and is finally able to deal with her fear of water that has frightened her since her sister died. Once again, Thierry makes an appearance. One could say that Thierry is the one thing that binds all these series, plus Dell's trilogy together.

If you're not aware, this story actually continues into Dell Preston's trilogy which is being called Lorimar Pack. I like Dell, so her story should be pretty entertaining.

Loved it!

Yet another exhilarating installment of a new favourite series of mine. This book had moments of pure swoon, the major plot twist that I couldn't have imagined, and pure unadulterated fun.

Strange Brew, Look What's Inside of You

Head Above Water is the second installment in author Hailey Edwards Gemini trilogy. Picking up right where Dead in the Water left off, protagonist Camille "Cam' Ellis is facing a forced leave of absence from the Earthen Conclave after what happened in the previous story. Her friend Harlow Bevans is missing having been taken right from under Cam's nose as she was chasing after one of the more dangerous villains she's had to face. Charybdis is still out there and Cam knows that it's just a matter of time before he comes for her.

The story moves to the home of the Chandler Warg Park where Cord Graeson has returned home after discovering the person responsible for killing his sister. The trip to the Pack introduces readers to new characters, some returning characters like Dell Preston and Cord's six, who showed up in the previous installment. Plus, we get new storylines, and we also see how dysfunctional the the Chandler pack really is.

With her Aunt Dot, and cousin Isaac along for the ride, Cam has to pretend that she's mated to Cord, which causes all sorts of issues and challenges. Cord's pack isn't exactly open minded or welcoming when it comes to a Fae being mated to one of their own. Even if she is able to show that she's more than capable of standing on her own without Cord's help. What's worse, Cord is facing conflicts as the packs Beta which have caused rifts within the pack.

It keeps getting better and better...

I have enjoyed this series and every book keeps getting even more interesting. I really enjoy the main character. She is so brave and stubborn. Her romance with Riley keeps developing slowly and she still has a hard time trusting their relationship.

Narration is outstanding and brings all the characters to life.

There is a lot of family drama going on in this book. Sunshine has a hard time accepting help and wants to do everything by herself. Riley is so patient and loving! Sunshine is one lucky girl!

There are a lot of unanswered questions in this book that Im hoping will be explained in the next book. I wonder what is the thing she has been keeping in a cage called... I enjoyed this book and Im looking forward to the next one.

An Awesome Listen

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, and have voluntarily left this review. This series just keeps getting better. Sunshine is such a refreshing character and the plot is based on normal situation, but the circumstance is far from normal. All the characters in this series are very well written and developed that you find yourself cheering some and booing others. Book 3 ended to quickly and I'm looking forward to book 4.

still enjoying the series

I think maybe this series is just getting better, though it's getting to the point that reviewing each individual book becomes difficult. After all, the voice, characters, world, etc is all the same. I liked it in the past two books and I still like it here. This particular mystery and monster didn't seem quite as important as some of the past ones, maybe because it's a middle book.

I'm still finding Sunshines resistance to her relationship with Riley a bit too much to believe. But I appreciate that the reader sees Riley's frustration with this.

All in all, I'm still all in for Sunshine Walkingstick and look forward to future books and I'm still enjoying Winder's rendition of the books too.

I really love this series!

This book could probably be read as a standalone but it has huge spoilers for the first two books, so if you plan to read the series you should do so in order.

This book picks up right where The Deep Wood left off and it has more action than book 2 did, in fact I'm starting to wonder if Sunshine is capable of remaining uninjured for long.

Sunshine as a character is really compelling, I think it's her attitude towards protecting people 'if not me, then who?' Her generosity of spirit is something to be admired and she's delightfully down to earth.

I really loved this story

I really loved this story. It had action, magic, intrigue, redemption and a little romance. I know some people may turned off by the transgender role of the protagonist but I felt that the author and had made such a good story that it was irrelevant or I have become much more tolerant of the transgender community. To me this is how you take risks that pay off in writing. I commend you for taking the risk in writing a novel illustrates the struggles the transgender community faces but does not through it in the straight or uptight readers faces. I may not have explained what I have felt about this novel after reading it clearly but it certainly moved me.

More Please!

Absolutely fascinating read. I'd like to know when the next chronicle is due out. The world building was interesting and the character of the protagonist even more so. More please!

This was a pleasant read, and the author knows how to draw you into a story. My only complaint is a common one these days - it's too short and leaves you hanging, waiting for Part 2. But this we can easily blame on Amazon's business model - they pay the same for short or long. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Incredibly Descriptive And Totally Absorbing From One Scene To The Next!

What would you do if everything you knew about yourselfâincluding the fact that you are humanâwasnât really the truth? Worse, how would you feel if, just by accident, a group of innocent people was nearly slaughtered because you didnât know that you were â special? Thatâs the premise behind Author Kade Cookâs absorbing paranormal thriller, âGrey (The Covenant of Shadows Book 1)â, and itâs a premise that is beautifully executed by her main character, Gabrian. You can almost tell from the beginning of âGreyâ that things are probably not going to bode well for poor Gabrian as she begins to experience strange visions and demonstrates uncontrolled abilities that are well beyond all logic and reasonâat least for an everyday normal human being. Flawed Immortality

This series must he read in order. This is the first book.

Other than the very narrow and cynical view of Loki I really enjoyed this book. The pantheon could have been a bit better researched but all in all this was a good fun read. I will definitely be checking out the next book in hopes that it will be even better!

Korvain is probably the last pure blooded Mare still alive. That makes him not only a danger to himself but also to others. Odin feared their powers and ordered them all slaughtered on sight well before the Fall... He is also an Assassin and his newest assignment is to kill Bryn. The catch is he cares for Bryn on sight and quickly falls head over heels in love with her. How will he keep her safe? Will he be able to keep his chosen family safe at the same time? Who wants Bryn dead and why?

Bryn was the first mortal tricked into becoming a Valkyrie in Odin's service. Little did she know the true price (or origin) of her immortality. After the Fall she broke with Odin to protect her fellow Valkyries as best she could. All these years later it seems Odin will go to any lengths to get her back by his side (and under his thumb) ... Why is Odin so obsessed with keeping her close? What does he truly want her for? Can she trust Korvain? Who is hunting her sisters?

This was a fast paced cross genre romance rooted in the basics of the Norse Mythos. I can't wait to see what happens next inDark Desire: Dark Series 2!

New Series I just might become addicted to...

Loki banished forever? Dark elves hunted to extinction by Odin and the Valkyries? Now someone wants to kill the Valkyries to get to Odin, but who? With Gods and Goddess living among humans, anyoneâs guess is good as the Valkyries or is it a trick by Odin?

I really enjoyed this novel and believe it to be the start of a great series. It definitely left me wanting more, but in a good way. It is obviously paranormal, however the world that Dawes has created is really great and she knows her Norse Gods/Goddess pretty well. The plot is full of mystery and suspense I wish to know more about the other worlds like the one our Heroine, Bryn comes from along with the other Aesir Gods/Goddess.

This is definitely a 5 star book. I thought the story-line went along pretty fast. There was so adult romantic scenes, so, mom and dad, you decide.

Just as good as the first book

OMG I'm so in love with this series and sad that these books aren't getting the attention they deserve! The only thing that annoyed me was the cliffhanger ending. Other than that, it was a great read.

Black Coat Blues

Black Goat Blues is the second installment in author Levi Black's The Mythos War series. The story picks up several weeks after the ending of Red Right Hand. Protagonist Charlotte (Charlie) Tristan Moore is hunting the Man in Black (Nyarlathotep, the God of Chaos and Destruction) who made her his acolyte only to have the student defeat the master and walk away with the ability to wish herself any where, a black coat made from fallen angel skin that has hidden pockets of unbelievable useful tools, and a desire for payback for what he did to Daniel Langford.

Charlie finds herself with a curious group as allies in her desire to hunt down the Man in Black. There is Javier who Charlie stops from killing someone and ends up jumping place to place with Charlie. Ashtoreth, The Scarlet Harlot, Unholy Ishtar, Concubine of Chaos, and Whore Goddess Galore, and a skin-hound named Winnie who once took off a huge chunk of her ear. The most curious aspect of this story that I actually liked, was, shocked face, Winnie and how once adversaries are now allies.

I will say that the name of this book boggles my mind. You see, Charlie wears a black coat that she took from the Man in Black, so why not name the book Black Coat Blues? There is a character named Black Goat, but this character only shows up for barely a chapter or two. It is at this point in the story where betrayal sprouts its wings and Charlie finds herself among a cult who actually hunts Gods down and eats them. Charlie is an interesting character who is coming into her own.Â

She acts like a badass, and tries to walk the walk as a badass, but it is her own powers that are truly impressive. The most impressive power is her interdimensional teleportation that she has been using to lead her to the Man in Black.ÂLevi Black, aka James R Tuck can write some strange stories. He is very descriptive and isn't afraid to get his characters blooded and facing life or death challenges almost every page. Curious where Black will go from here since it is apparent Charlie would throw her own life away in order to save Daniel and perhaps Javier's as well.

Nonstop creepy Lovecraft action/horror

Black Goat Blues is the second book in the Mythos War series by Levi Black. I read this book out of order as a standalone and was immediately drawn into the story and wound up reading it in one sitting.
